This is a wonderful film that will take you through the old ranching community of Stillwater Nevada as I stop to pull off and explore an old teachers faculty in disrepair near an old school house. Then will journey along the Stillwater Mountains where will encounter wild mustangs and cattle roaming the range. Eventually while trying to find the ghost town of White Cloud City we end up in Shady Run Canyon which actually was an old mining district that was rather industrial back in the early 1900's and once was part of the Nevada Mining Company who also pretty much owned White Cloud City. The clip will end as I take you up to the mouth of White Cloud Canyon where ruins off in the distance begin to appear of this old copper mining camp which we were enthralled to explore. This is a real scenic offbeat journey our viewers are sure to enjoy. While White Cloud City never really was a city when Reid took over in the early 1900's he named this scenic place in his image "Coppereid"! The camp was never very large but it had about 40 miners living up here for nearly forty years ironic huh?
White Cloud City aka Coppereid was first discovered in the 1860's unfortunately due to hostilities with the local Indians mining and the town was not platted till the 1870's which in turn also had a copper smelter here. No more then forty miners lived at the mouth of the canyon while some actually lived and worked higher up in the canyon. The town nearly went but when a John T. Reid who operated the Nevada Mining Company filed many  new claims around White Cloud Canyon which led to a private town that boasted saloons, restaurants, boarding houses, commissary, post office, store, multiple miner residences and a mill. Unfortunately the town died before a railroad spur could be built here which Reid had the right of way too. The town itself was built right over White Cloud City today however all that remains are a few ruins, steam boiler and some small remnants of the past. Were going to explore the town and along the way we find mutilated cattle bones and an area that the earth had been singed and turned to glass.

At one time an old wagon road ran through the canyon however today nature has taken over of what once was therefore a creek and waterfalls runs over the rocks where miners was journeyed through. Were going to take you deep in White Cloud Canyon then will climb a summit above the cliffs overlooking the entire Carson Sink which is a vast ancient sea and desert where nothing grows. The purpose of our journey was to try to reach the upper part of Coppereid unfortunately it just had gotten to rugged and we really wanted to get above the mouth of this boom town so we could look for anything we have missed. This canyon expedition is full of adventure, scenery, humor and allot of hard work so that we could put the area into perspective for our viewers and show how vast it is. Today the canyon is very overgrown rumor has it the water running through it actually comes from one of the towns largest mines perhaps the miners tapped into a natural spring. Journey with us as we take on the mighty White Cloud Canyon!
We are done exploring White Cloud City & its rugged Canyon now were back on the road descending back down into the Carson Sink. We were all fairly exhausted this was a long journey and we nearly spent almost the entire day up here but now the sun was slowly starting to set and we were getting ready just before dusk to head to our next destination which was the ranching town of Mountain Wells and Mining Town of La Plata. As we drive along the Stillwater Mountains your going to see herds of wild mustangs, antelope and cattle roaming the free range. This is a very beautiful journey made to take our viewers on a journey into the wild west where the scenery is wicked and everything roams free all with beautiful hues of orange as the sun is setting off to the east giving the Stillwater Range a magical look. On this journey will cover about 20 miles of back country as we head south along the bottom of the range in between the Carson Desert into the sunset! A great way to close out White Cloud City and in a century nothing has changed here.
