The Dangberg Ranch may just be one of the most historical ranches in the entire Carson Valley. I was excited to have the opportunity to tour the ranch. Not all investigations for me are about the paranormal sometimes more or less they are about the beauty and preservation.

Its very hard sometimes to do certain investigations because some locations are rather bustling. The ranch today is a museum although access is very limited. Out of the 8 buildings I only was able to tour a few of them.

When I pulled up onto the dirt road I was passing cattle their was a creek and a nice view of the eastern sierras. I love hiking along the eastern Sierras as the view of the Carson Valley and ranch below is rather stellar.

Some of the buildings on site as we approached are of brick others are wood. The ranch house originally started off as a log cabin then it was expanded into a rather large homestead which is what your going to see plenty of photos of.

As I pulled up onto the ranch the cottonwoods were so large an old their was also near the barn a bunch of old wagons from the 1800's. I was able to meet with two curators who uptake the property they both speculated the property could be haunted or at least they like to think it is.

Whether they seen anything strange here is another story some people don't like to talk about their experiences as they might think they sound nuts. But the older curator is a really nice guy and he gave me a more in depth history overview of the ranch one on one for about an hour we talked.

I toured three buildings the first being the main ranch house. I did not see the upstairs I wish I did as I could have probably gotten more activity. However it does not mean that I cannot return here I have passed the ranch hundreds of times and almost went to one of their events last year ago.

I was astounded at how many antiques still exist around the ranch such as the first telephone in the Carson Valley, Washing Machines, Lanterns, Lamps, Clothing etc. I took allot of photos of such relics because I wanted our viewers to see them as I saw them on my walk through of the ranch.

Towards the north their was the cooks house, guesthouse, cowboys home, garage and slaughter house. I did not get to tour them however they are on my agenda sometime down the road. Their is also an old wagon road with these giant brick pillars which at one time back in the day carriages would pull in between them.

One of the most eerie things inside of the ranch house is all the old photos and paintings in the different rooms. I mean lets face it back in the day those old time photos were creepy you can almost feel watched from some of the photos.

The parlor was the nicest room of all with old lamps, pictures, record player, knickknacks and a fireplace. The cowboys dining room had about 14 chairs around a giant round table. While the other dining room for the Dangbergs was rather elaborate.

The office had a skull in it with an old typewriter and many interesting books. While the kids room had a bunch of old toys and a toy chest. Their was a women's bedroom full of vanity supplies including old dresses. I felt a presence in this room I been doing this for awhile so I learn not to double guess my gut.

I did not care much for the younger curator who has been employed here for 6 years. I have to say he was a dick my son who was with me thought so too. I went into the ladies bedroom to take photos when he told me to stay out in the hall with him. However earlier two women my age went into that same room and he said nothing to them. Considering I had no room in the hall I was forced either way to stand at the bedrooms entrance.

Just as he told me I can take all the photos I wanted without using a flash yet he already seen my flash was off prior to taking photos. I sort of felt like he was picking on me purposely because I have tats, long hair and black nails. I hate people who stereotype me I am the last person who would disrespect or steal from a museum. I do what I do to promote these places so guys like him continue to have a job because without business and funding this place could shut down and it almost did recently.

I had Tammy father with me so he got to see a little bit of what I do. I do many of my investigations during the day just as I do many at night. I did not have a working EMF meter so all I did was EVP sessions during my visit here.

Their was a laundry house with a pile wood, bunk, washing tubs, sinks etc I thought that was pretty cool. You could also see old soap boxes laying around. I was able to hold an iron it had to be nearly 10lbs it sure wasn't easy back in the day you had to be entirely self sufficient. You didn't have electricity, washers, driers and computers. Everything had to be performed with blood, sweat and tears.  Life back then was simpler I honestly would have preferred myself to live back in the day to hunt, fish and find what I needed around me.

The Dangbergs were quite wealthy their are at least 8 structures surrounding the ranch. Back in the day most pioneers didn't have what they had. The kids had all the greatest toys that most kids at that time didn't have. Such as the office had a fancy typewriter, library of books and even a skull which was used to store cigars.

I was able to have lunch under one of the cottonwoods I also seen the storehouse nearby which was dingy and cool. Their was an old butter churner, saddles, canned goods and other things in storage. If their was anywhere I felt something strange it was the storehouse. Although the ranch house seemed to have some energy present in it to. My feel on it was the entire family still was hanging around which is the case with most old properties.

The curator told me in the summer their are caretakers on the property who live here I bet they have some stories to tell. He also told me some people have seen some strange things here but he has not. I respect honesty when it comes to people sharing their personal details then again maybe some folks do not want to sound crazy.

I feel that the property warrants another one or two more in depth investigations. For example the barn was closed however it is one of the oldest and most in tact in the state of NV considering it was built in the 1800s and faced many storms that came off the sierras.

Their is a guest house, slaughter house, cooks house and other structures I did not get to even walk around in yet. I didn't get to see the upstairs of the main ranch house nor the barn. I heard allot about the barn from the curator I may get to see it next time I am there. People sometimes forget that their are also animal ghost not just spirits from living persons.

Towards the back of the ranch their was piles of old wagon wheels, carriages and cattle roaming. There is a small creek that also winds around the range and some other old brick building that I forgot to ask about. Its truly hard to believe that the ranch was thousands of acres and now dwindles on only 5 acres. Although their is pastures all around they no longer belong to the Dangberg Ranch. Just like most of the land in the Carson Valley which has grown into small towns and housing communities.

The reason for my investigation of the ranch is I want to promote it. I do not want to see it ever close as it serves as an important educational landmark for many of the local schools. Its early rancher history some of the earliest in the entire state of NV that includes the thousands of artifacts that can be found in the house and surrounding it.

There were times I was alone on the ranch where I could feel as if something went past me. But I am curious to see other sites on the ranch. Its not even just the ranch but the Dangbergs own many of the buildings in downtown Minden or have at one time. They would eventually own other ranchers and lease other properties which are also historical landmarks that we have visited or want to investigate in the future.

I enjoyed the rich history as they told me tales about the daughters, cowboys and even some of the family issues the Dangbergs faced. All the way from drinking to gambling to even fights. Its hard to believe that this family continued to reside on this ranch for nearly a 150 years.

I do think our viewers are going to enjoy our website updates in reference to the ranch. This is about as good as it gets or as western as you can get. Allot of the photos I took were of artifacts that predate modern times such as for example the first telephone in the Carson Valley and even a butter churner.

Not much has changed except with the fact that over the years the ranch had expanded such as new buildings would be added. There was a pure bred barn which is no longer standing that the curator told me about. Today everything is preserved and touched with gloves even certain parts of the ranch house are off limits and restoration work is still in progress as at one time their was an owl living in the parlor of the ranch home back when it was abandoned for a short time.

I cannot say or say that the property is haunted I feel it is which usually in my line of work is a pretty accurate notion since I been doing this work for many years. I am sure if I had the opportunity to spend the night here or work in a quieter setting I may be able to uncover more evidence as far as it being haunted.

Id like to come back here again next year ago our first visit was to talk to the curator to gather information on the ranch and to bring our viewers a variety of photos. We want to let others absorb its history but also to a degree its ghost.

When walking through the pantry seeing canned jams and artichokes growing along the laundry house with flowers all over it kind of gave me a home away from home. Allot of the staff I met with was very friendly except for the rudeness of the one curator. Its pretty easy to judge someone without realizing that they are there to help preserve this places history.

I had brought Tammy's father with me on the investigation and he seemed to enjoy the ranch allot as well. He is from the midwest so he lives near many farms and is fairly familiar with allot of the old school relics left behind and things that a ranch needs to sustain itself.

I really look forward to sharing the photos as they will speak louder then words. Their is so many little things around the ranch that others never had back in the day. This ranch was self sustaining and you can expect that considering the owners also built up the historic town of Minden which even till this today is one of the finest small towns in all of NV. I know I spend allot of my time up in this region hiking the eastern sierras....enjoying nice lunches in Minden and fishing.

I look forward to returning who knows what we might see next time or record. It was very nice for one of the curators to take 45 minutes out of his day to talk with me privately about the Dangbergs. He told me their are still some ancestors alive but no longer under that name. I will do what I can to help keep its history alive not just for the kids but for the viewers who want to see a real ranch of the wild west through our hard work on our site.

After spending time on the ranch I enjoyed an ice cold beer and pizza hut. Tammy's dad and I spent a long time talking about it ourselves. Its so well maintained and perfect in every way its like if I ever had a dream home this would be it. It was a place at one time children laughed, played, cowboys herded the cattle and the sunset over the mountains. Then the candles went dim and a new day had began one that eventually expand into an empire one perhaps that is most well thought of when we refer to the state of NV and its early pioneers who made their homes here. Do their ghost haunt this ranch? I like to keep an openmind myself and think they do watching over it and if they are I am sure they are pleased with how the ranch is still kept today. I was told by the curator not much has changed in the last century even with how the ranch appears today.
