The Carson Hills reside at an elevation of over 5,200k and are considered to be the magical foothills of the High Sierras only these reside at the entrance of the Carson Pass. In the 1840's Fremont and Carson would have probably ventured into them prior to them cross through the Sierra Mountain range. I am very sure at one time before man moved into the region that Bigfoot probably came down into the hills to hunt or fish especially in the Carson River which also has made its mark in this region since ancient times.

This is a very special place to me I probably care as much about it as the natives who hunted, gathered fish and grown crops here. For nearly three years these hills were in my yard and I spent my fair amount of time in them. I guess it takes someone special to know there true beauty and history. Although much of these hills are high desert surrounded by the forested Sierras and beautiful pine nut mountain range the hills are kind of a world all in itself. Some of them are a few hundred feet in height while other areas their are canyons, ravines and vast open expanses.

The area has probably home to strange lights for many centuries not only that but one night I seen a creature walked down a road and up into the tall grass here. It may have been a wolf but wolves around here are very rare it would be interesting to maybe talk to some natives about some of their experiences here. I always felt that what I seen was a skinwalker or anotherwards a Shaman who might be able to shape shift but who knows what I seen that night.

The Carson Hills should be greatly appreciated sadly most of the people who go here go here to dump their trash while others bring junk out here just to shoot at. I kind of want to portray this hidden wilderness in another light and maybe just maybe the locals will have a greater appreciation of it. I will not tell you how to get to the lake, cemetery or any of the remote locations so do not ask. This is out of respect for the natives and although some of the natives totally oppose our projects I know their are some who realize that our organization is directed at preserving Washoe native sites nothing more; believe me when I say that.

The Washoe Tribe were natives to the Pine Nut Mountains and the region around the sierras of a community called the Woodfords which resides at the opening into the Carson Pass. It is where the high desert meets the forest so these hills were at one time home to this tribe. Considering that the river provided water as well as fish and the Pine Nut Mountains provided the Pine Nut as a food source the tribe could sustain themselves for many centuries. As they would migrate through the hills in the warmer months while holding up in the winter there in the cooler months. I do not know if the lake is ancient but if it was then I am sure the early Washoe may have utilized it as a means for survival.

In the winter months the Washoe tribe would spend most of its time in the Carson Hills and Pine Nut Mountain range since they were less susceptible to cooler weather and fierce snow. In the cooler months they would gather seeds, hunt jackrabbits and store away the pine nuts. In the warmer months such as later Spring and Summer the Washoe would make their way over Luther Canyon's Jobs Peak and the Sierras Canyons Genoa Peak to Lake Tahoe. They would use the sierras along with its tributaries to hunt, fish gather berries and roots. Lake Tahoe was great for gathering fish as the fishing is pretty amazing at Tahoe as time to time I fish there myself so it definitely was a life line for subsistence.

I read on a plaque which is just below that the only form of organization the Washoe had was that based on kinship. In ancient time they were basket weavers and were a stone age tribe. They would carve arrow heads out of rock to be used to hunt and according to lore lived in a daily communion with giants, monsters and animals who were often associated with having the bodies of old men and long hair of girls. They were called by the white man the water babies of sierras because in the warmer months the tribe would migrate to various lakes and streams found in the High Sierras. Prior to 1848 the tribes located within the hills never even knew what the Caucasian man was but during that time early explorers such as Fremont and Kit Carson came through here.

The Washoe were not war like actually they were one of the most peaceful of tribes on the west coast which may have been the reason as to why they were forced off their lands unfortunately. After the explorers came through these hills just a couple years later the gold rush brought many early pioneers to and from the high sierras some of them built towns in the Carson Valley while others mined the area. Respectfully the tribe did trade with the white settlers who came to the area. One of the most interesting legends took place at Cave Rock where the tribe would make a pilgrimage to each summer and have a legend about a lady in white. Some of the early Washoe told tales about seeing a lake monster today called Tessie.

In 1917 the state Senator William F. Dressler gave acreage to the Washoe Indians to form a colony. In the earlier 1900's. many of these early natives were living on local ranches that were predominant in the Carson Valley and even the Carson Hills. Thus Dresslerville was born which was built along side of the East Fork of the Carson River. Then came the public buildings like the community center, youth center, gymnasium, park and eventually homes. My son use to spend time at the community center and gymnasium here. While my other son has a couple friends who are Washoe. Although their is some segregation and racism seems to be found within some tribal members it is not true with all of them. I have made a few friends with tribal members but not all of them but I understand that their is bitterness because the white man came here to take this rich land you see in the photos for themselves. However it was not me and if I could id give it all back to them trust me when I say that so this is where I stand.

Dresslerville borders the Carson Hills and the Pine Nut Mountain Range I know the area well since I have spent time back here fishing, hiking and chasing strange lights in the sky. It is just fact that many early native tribes across the country have witnessed dancing or strange lights. I am not sure why native sites are home to such strange occurrences maybe because the tribes learned to coexist with alien visitors and were their for thousands of years prior to the white man settling the United States. Being the hills are so remote that its plausible to say that the Carson Hills are perhaps a hot bed for strange lights in the night sky.

Although Dresslerville is only 90 acres the tribe itself owns 64, 300 acres of various communities, parcels of land and colonies. Om 1991 Dresslerville was the largest Washoe community with 348 native American residents. Although some of the tribal members live in this colony some of them live off of it as I have found out. The colony is treated as its own sovereign nation per the US Bill of Native Americans. The Carson Hills however are not a part of Dresslerville except for the ranch which is also used as a communal area for the tribe sometimes. The council for Dresslerville also has five community representatives and even its own tribal police. I lived near one of the tribal police officers that chose not to live in Dresslerville which just goes to show you that the natives are very predominant in the region who reside here because of their ancient roots.

The dam is actually owned by the Washoe people just as the burial ground is private as well. At one time many of the old roads found in the back country were open to the public but mining has made it harder for mountain bikers and hikers to explore the foothills. If you pay close attention the lake is very very low you can see sand bars exposed so in 2014 the drought has not only effected California but also certain parts of Nevada that depend on rain/snow to thrive which is not present.

As in regards to the cemetery I just happened to know a tribal member who told me about it and well the rest I found on my own hiking in the hills. One could see why the Washoe decided to make this area their home for nearly 10,000 years. Just remember this as you go through our photos and media of this areas hidden beauty. I will be very sad to no longer have access to this place being it was in my yard I use to see the Carson Hills DAILY!!! So you can see why so much effort was put into this location actually three years of collaborated media and information in the making so what were bring you is really a special addition to our site.

I will admit I have hiked through the region and had gotten turned around back here or a bit confused/lost so if I was on private land it was all accidental and have no plans on returning here period since the historical aspect of the project is DONE period. Honestly never trust a GPS because mine was strangely off most of the time here for some very strange reason so I found that a bit odd. However it was very important for us to document the mining, littering, history, UFO zones, vandalism and mistreatment of this beautiful wilderness as the project is meant to make news in hopes to raise public self awareness. It is also to teach people to use gun safety if you check out one of the videos you will see someone with a gun walking through the brush near us and they were almost shooting towards our direction. So yeah this addition to our site is of importance because without it I cannot raise public awareness to help preserve the foothills and treat them with great respect if that makes sense!

Not many people have ever seen the Carson Hills the ones that have are those who belong to the colony or they are locals who might go out here to hike or perhaps clay shoot.

So what exactly are you going to see here? Its very simple your going to see the Carson Hills through my eyes everything from the Sierras, Pine Nut Mountains, Mud Lake, Washoe Dam, History, UFOs, Bones, Burial Grounds, Ranch Land and even desecration. I have decided to add this place to our site because I have allot of great memories in these hills offroading all the way to hiking. I spent allot of time here and one does not have to ask once they sift through all the great things we added here. We want you to be the viewer and to take this journey into the magical foothills of the sierras in rural Nevada. When it is all said and done you will see that this truly is a timeless adventure full of forgotten gems.

The photos further below are taken from the top of Jobs Peak which overshadows the foothills. If you study them carefully you will see various landmarks such as Indian Creek Ranch, Mud Lake, Crop Circles and many of the smaller rolling hills. Not only are you able to see the foothills of the Carson pass below but also the foothills which are below the Pine Nut Mountain Range. The early Washoe traversed over the high sierras and prior to them cross over to the Lake Tahoe basin this is the view they would see of the very home the migrated from in the cooler months. The reason of them migrated in the cooler months to the valley floor is winters were less harsh as in comparison with the very peaks I took these photos on. Not only do you get to see photos and video of us journeying in the Carson Hills but you also get to see what they look like thousands of feet above them which really shows you how small we are in comparison to the vastness of this region. So you must ask yourself why perhaps this area is so riddled with the unexplained and the answer to that question becomes rather clear!
