The California Trail literally runs right through today's fort. The trek was very difficult for early pioneers as thousands migrated to the west in search of gold and other prospects. This is when some of the earliest settlers came to the region which were Mormons to develop a trading post and station which offered supplies for these pioneers getting ready to traverse the might Sierra Mountains. Genoa is the oldest non native settlement in NV it sparked the growth it needed which would eventually lead to statehood during the Civil War after the Utah War with the Mormons.	The museum of the fort houses some of the most historical artifacts in direct relation to the early pioneers who came here seeking prosperity. Among some of those oddities is a set of man bear gloves can you imagine seeing a person dressed up in this hairy gig in the woods? Some of the historical artifacts found here like old butter churners, plates, piano, ledge etc are some of the true treasures of western pioneer history that includes the creepy portraits. The only thing that is not creepy is that cute girl to the left in the beginning of the video and I am sure even she has a few ghost stories of her own to share. Imagine how many of these items have energy connected to them all the way from the Native American artifacts to what some of the early Pioneers brought with them out west.

On site there are a few wagons which would have been used to haul crops or in some cases families across there long trek west. When you stand out inside the fort and see some of the pioneer tools especially wagons it kind of reminds you of little house on the prairie. Back in the day they did not have automobiles everything was stage coaches and horse buggies.	These were called Indian walls although this is a replica these walls would have looked similar to the old Mormon fort of its day. They built such forts to protect the Mormon settlers against hostile tribes of natives thus they were called Indian walls. The fort was built in the 1850s along with many of Genoa's town sites however sadly the original fort itself burned down in 1910 and in its place came the replica you see in the videos.

We are standing at the entrance to the fort which has a few really important plaques which talk about the birth of the trading post all the way to the growth of the historic town of Genoa particularly after Nevada became a state. While filming I also seen Judge Virgins Pink House which a guide told me about if you watch Part 2 Delving Into History and Mystery.	Just a clip of the boys and me exploring more in direct relation to the fort. For us this is just a giant playground filled with nature, scenery and much to explore. This is the wild west this is what it is truly about is taking in that early western history and what better then to enjoy it with the boys. We were trying to find a good area to take some team shots its a tradition to always blast each location with photography that way not one single person can ever state we were not there because trust me we were!

This grinding rock symbolized that Genoa during the cooler months was home to the ancient Washoe tribe who would grind pine nuts, berries and other seeds which would eventually erode the rock creating this hole from years of grinding. After we found the rock my son Jarrod takes me in the museum to show me Snow Shoe Thompson's Skis. Thompson was a hero delivering mail, medical supplies and other necessities traversing the sierras and sometimes even rescuing pioneers from the brutal high sierras.	Your looking at one of the last remaining logs from the burning of the original fort in 1910. Legend had it that a local rancher had bed bugs on a poor farm burned his mattress thus causing a great fire in Genoa which took out many historic sites. In this clip you can not only see the log but many of the historic artifacts found in the area.

For lunch we had subs, snacks and homemade pumpkin bread. I am really big on dining outdoors especially during our investigations we will break for lunch or dinner breaking bread. I guess in this video I get a bit to excited with seeing the yummy pumpkin bread and getting so stoked I even had to flash the cape. You have to have some good eats when your exploring its just PGS tradition.	This would be our last and final walk-through within the walls of the fort. Sometimes when your exploring its important to do a second or even a third take that way you do not miss a beat. I was glad to have came back inside I found a bunch of bird life, deer behind the fort, insects, flowers and nature during the second walk-through which you can see on our website.

Jarrod was looking through the slats of the fence on the backside of the fort when we came face to face with a family of deer. Their was two fawns, doe and a buck. We believe they stay behind the fort during the day for the shade and the thriving fruit trees found here. Anytime you drive past the fort at night you will see nearly a dozen deer just grazing at the entrance wildlife here is very abundant considering Genoa is nestled in the foothills of the Sierras.	This is some of the video footage that my son Jarrod took of the deer grazing behind the forts fence. He has a long ways to go but he is one of the first investigators I have had that actually had the guts to do some filming in years. The history, wildlife and scenery all blend together in Genoa where the fort is located.
