When daylight came to be in Jackson I passed this mine looking down at it on the hill. I did not know that it was at one time such a big mining operation. But when you start to walking around Jackson you start to see plaques and articles about it. When I stayed at the shelter they had an older newspaper clipping about the Kennedy Argonaut mining accident about the fire and the men who died thousands of feet below the surface.

I thought at that instant man that place has to be haunted.....I would walk past it hiking around Jackson...never really traversed onto the property accept the Tailing wheel park which was part of the operation. There was a local lady who mentioned that park being haunted she was into taking ghost photos at the tailing wheel area.

I think this place will always be special because we hosted one of our radio shows here and the night I did it two giant mountain lions closed in on us. I kept doing the show and did not stop it despite their aggressiveness towards me.

Their are caretakers who live at the entrance to the mine so if you notice all my shots are from various hills and far away distances although I do plan on getting a tour or hiking in down the road to do a more extensive paranormal investigation of the property.

Alot of the buildings are old and rusted pretty eerie when you look at some of them from afar really. My friend was mentioning out some of that mine went under his apartment complex and I would believe it the operation was just that large. The Massa Bros. Mine was on the edge of the property much like the Tailing Wheels.

I learned about other smaller mines in the area and I tried to seek them out hiking over many rolling hills....in the woods....and I believe I found the Franklin Mine which is not to far away either but I would have to work further with the area as their is alot of foundations and sites.

When you come on into the Jackson one of the first things you see is the Kennedy Mine to your left then way off in the distance the monolithic Butte Mountain which my camera was not working so I did not get photos from its peak.

The more I talked about this place the more interest it drew from a local who went on one of my hikes. One night we gathered the gear went hiking ended up walking into a group of firefighters doing some drill around some old foundations. We had to turn back so we came back a couple days later.

This time we climbed into a valley and found a series of foundations and a hidden dam. The area we were walking on at one time was a giant lake. We climbed up on this dam and the bridge across was fenced off but we could have gotten around it if we wanted but it was getting dark.

I only have a couple cell phone photos of me in front of the dam its massive. We found a mine shaft that was filled and we found some ore which we broke open looking for gold. There is alot of little hidden things and foundations all around Jackson which were part of these operations whether these foundations and dam were part of the Kennedy Operation it did not matter it was just a short hike away.

I seen an old photo of the lake back here and you could see that the dam at one time was in fact holding back water and alot of it. Past the dam was a new housing area but at one time all of that was underwater. It truly was amazing and only a little water remained in various patches an entire dried up lake. The water probably was used in the Kennedy Mine operation and for the tailing wheels.

The one thing I did not like is these plants that had sharp thorns on them and our pants...shoes etc were covered in them. The brush around the area is not maintained when you hike around you pretty much face alot of overgrown areas unless you are in the main area of Kennedy Mine.

I always felt a haunting sensation here such as being watched and when the sun goes down its an eerie location to walk around in. They have sometimes BBQs and events at the mine along with tours but when I seen the price of them I thought wow pretty expensive. Nothing comes cheap in CA so I guess ill just have to return and give myself my own tour haha but seriously its a pretty cool place.

There is alot of hidden sites on the mine property like in one photo I took you have a tree growing out of a stone foundation. On the back side is an old wood bridge....and on the edge of the road is a giant building. The only thing I regret is the fact that I did not take many photos here and half of the time I had no camera on me.

I never thought of leaving the area I had plans to move in a place....and then come back here at night to get some EVPs it just never happened. I know the place is haunted I knew it before some other group visited it seems like alot of paranormal groups get wind of what your doing then they flock like a bunch of flies on shit.

What intrigued me about this mine is the fact that it was the deepest one in the country I thought man anything could be down there of course I had no plans to go to hell just walking the grounds and seeing the historic sites is a real privilege. On my birthday I smoked a joint right at the Kennedy Mine by myself. There is an area you can see some history and information about the area.
