Grimes Point may just be one of the top most accessible petroglyph sites in the United States. In this video we are offroading in the desert on the back side of Grimes Point so that we can explore some Native American Caves. This is an ancient area dating back to B.C. at one time it was all underwater however at present its just a vast rocky area of basalt rocks and history.
These trails lead to various caves which were used as shelters by the native tribes who hunted in the Grimes Point area. Some of them are burnt from fires while others are just small shelters big enough for a few men to sleep in. The area is very vast we never did see everything on the first trip however future explorations should reveal more overtime.

Hidden cave is an archaeological wonder unfortunately it only is open to the public a couple days per month. In this video I show our viewers the sealed entrance to the cave meanwhile hiking to another cave that is accessible as I talk to our viewers a little more about our group and the area we are in.
On our hike we came across more unique caverns all found within the Basalt Rocks of Grimes Point. These caverns are not very large but one of them does go back almost 50 feet while hidden cave in the area is said to go back 150 feet. These caves were more then likely created from volcanic activity thousands if not millions of years ago. The natives would cook there food, sleep, eat etc in these caverns. Strangely no petroglyphs are to be found within these caverns most of them are however found on the basalt rock boulders found near the front area of Grimes Point facing highway 50!

We did an EVP session at this location and the cave is burnt from top to bottom more then likely from previous camp fires over the years. This cave is fairly large and although it does not go back very far it is one of the larger caverns found in the area. My sons were playing with me during the film by stirring up dust inside so that I couldn't see or breath hence why the video was cut short I had to get out of there before I started sneezing and coughing.
This rattle snake crossed inches from Tammy's feet and I quickly pulled out the video cam to capture it darting into the brush. You can hear its rattle and see some nice close-ups of the snake in this video which is pretty common in the region. I am sharing this video to show our viewers the dangers that exist while paranormal exploring. Even though generally most animals we come across are peaceful snakes are one of our largest threats. Very few people have an opportunity to film a snake like this without getting bit and I consider us to be pretty lucky. Now our viewers can admire this snake and the nature that surrounds it.

The overlooks reside on a trail that is at one of the high points of Grimes Point. This trail will take us to an area that is a plateau where we can look down onto the petroglyphs below and beautiful high desert scenery.
These are the overlooks and wow what a view. This is a view id pay for at one time the ancient Lohontan Sea covered most of this area hell it was almost all underwater. It is very windy up here so it is hard to hear what I am saying so just sit back enjoy the view as you are getting to see all of Grimes Point from above.

This truly is the gravy of Grimes Point roughly 150 Basalt Rocks marked with grinding holes and petroglyphs. Some of the rock art dates back to 5000 B.C. and although it is faded some of they can still be seen today. This petroglyph site is one of the most accessible sites in the country and it is one of the top notch rock art sites in the nation.
