Subject: Our Expeditions Of Thunder Mountain & Silver Lake California!

Our second expedition would focus more in depth on the historical sites, Eldorado Forest and the many hidden gems found surrounding Silver Lake. Just as with our first expedition on Thunder Mountain this hike would have many beautiful perks as well.

This expedition would both involve ghosthunting and cryptozoology depending on where I visited. Our journey would began at Camp Minkalo which has a series of paths that lead to foundations. None of the structures stand anymore in my opinion it is ashamed it was all torn down a waste if you ask me.

However from the camp you can get great views of Treasure Island and Silver Lake. Their is also some great closeups of Thunder Mountain which overshadows this area. The giant slabs of granite rocks and exploring this part of the forest was truly allot of fun.

Our first stop would be Amy Lake which is probably about a mile in from the camp. This is a really nice lake its rather round but it has allot of granite rock formations and a fairly soft bank. So I spent time looking for tracks found one but it could have been human hard telling it was the only one I discovered which made it a bit odd.

Each Lake I plans to break to enjoy the atmosphere early in the adventure I seen all sorts of new wild flowers. I even seen this beautiful blue and purple butterfly knowing me then some of you really must understand how much I love nature.

I spend some of my time looking for Bigfoot sure but I also spend it seeking out nature that I can share with our viewers. In order to understand these cryptids you have to see their habitat which is full of life in itself.

We did move on to Granite Lake which was larger then Amy Lake full of islands and a nice peninsula we took a break at. I could not believe the scenery surrounding this lake its just amazing. Of course the name granite lake is quite populate this truly is one of the more nicer ones. The water is so pristine and clear all the way to the bottom.

As we followed the lake shore I scoured the woods also and found a really great Bigfoot track. It had girth not so much the length but their was very very large toes. It had a very wide heel and appeared to have been here for quite sometime. It was a nice find one of the better pieces of evidence on the expedition. When working with cryptids you always have to remain meticulous the moment you do not search behind that brush or on the ground means you could miss out on some really notable evidence.

You have to understand that we cover miles of a region however its a fact that you cannot cover every inch thus finding tracks is like a needle in a haystack it requires allot of hard work.

We would eventually continue our hike which would take us to a place called hidden lake also passing a few small ponds along the way. Hidden Lake was full of nature such as ducks in the water and a nice back drop of this cliff. It was a bit more marshy and not to far I found an interesting impression so maybe something made it while heading to the lack. Their are also many hidden lakes in the sierras perhaps they call them this when they have no other name in mind lol. I did observe what looked like to be a den on the otherside of the lake I used my binos and still could not figure out what it was. Maybe someday with a larger team we can check it out and find out if its been used by a Bigfoot like creature.

I did have lunch at Hidden Lake then we would get ready to make our ascension which climbs rather quickly and steeply. Their is one point in the trail where you pass through volcanic spires and along a very steep bank. If you misstep it could be your last so you have to be quite careful.

Once you read the top of the ridge you come right on out to the old Carson Emigrant Trail and near Squaw Valley which overlooks the Mokelumne wilderness. This is of course not before you have to cross some barbed wire to visit the Allen Ranch.

The old ranch house still stands but a new one has been built and yes people live in it. Its quite the offroad drive to get here and I did not want to take it because I wanted to hike to the ranch on foot. Once you depend on technology to much is when you truly miss out on nature and other great sites.

Further up the old Emigrant wagon trail you began a second ascension. Its rather steep and you have to work quite hard to get to the old trading post. I somehow passed the narrow trail leading to it and instead went around the back side climbing the curvy emigrant road.

I went on ahead leaving Tammy and Jarrod behind they were really tired. I told them that if I were to find the trading post site I would signal them. My signal is I let out a bunch of Bigfoot screams of course I also carry two way radios at all times as well.

I had finally reached the edge of the Eldorado Forest and eventually the trading post site which has today a wood sign commemorating its history.  Although nothing stands today at one time thousands passed through here setting up camp and even buying horses.

By this time we were miles into our hike we sat on some rocks had dinner. From atop of the ridge I could see the Silver Lake basin on one side with great views of the Mokelumne wilderness on the other. We also found this wildflower I have never seen before and a bunch of bright red rocks quite odd for this area.

Jarrod and I climbed a nearby peak to stand on it to get some scenic shots then eventually we visited a grave site. Rumor has it their are many gravesites surrounding the trading post I only found the one which means many unmarked graves of early pioneers.

After dinner here we would eventually truck down into the Silver Lake basin by then the sun was setting and it did not take long for it to get dark. Sadly the trail is poorly marked so we climbed for nearly two miles down the side of this mountain full of granite rock formations and thick foliage. I did found a small cave entrance on this trip maybe a den for a bear hard telling.

I heard something really weird in the woods keep in mind we were way off path but it sounds like two creatures communicating I could not recognize the language. I am not sure if it was even Bigfoot but I know it also was not human either.

By the time we made it into the basin nightfall set in and I did post some photos on the site to show you how eerie these woods are at night. Well not eerie for me I enjoy a good all out night hike its cooler, stars are out and so is Bigfoot.

I seen some lights in the woods which led us into the Stockton Camp. Walking around that place at night is hell of confusing. You have nearly 50 cabins and dirt roads all over we were going in circles. Their was an arcade and some other older structures so it added to the fun. Allot of people however were out and I had to get directions from a camper on how to get to Plasse's resort.

Eventually we would hike around the resort so I could photograph some of the historical structures right on the west end of Silver Lake. I have no doubts that the resort is haunted however at this point is speculation. Keep in mind the resort is very historic this area has been in use for a century in a half.

We would hike to the shores of Silver Lake where we found a canal with many boats and a few docks. We were not on any trail however I would cut us through some thick vegetation that led us to the lake trail. However it began to thunder and lightening. A few bolts struck really close to us and the only thing we could do is to keep on moving.

The trail was very hard at times to follow and narrow within the darkness to my left I could see treasure island everytime the lightening struck. The thunder was so loud that the storm was right over us and then the rain came. Not just a drizzle but big hard falling drops and we were in the middle of a storm completely drenched. It was very exciting despite the visibility was so low and eventually we came right upon the truck.

We were very exhausted when you hike 12 to 15 miles from early morning to late night exploring you know you did a kick ass job. I also discovered on the hike some other areas on the edge of the Mokelumne Wilderness I may explore in the future so it was all worthwhile.

Honestly I have to say this adventure was very exciting it was nonstop adventure the entire time. We were able to get the best of both worlds dawn and dusk. I wish we had gotten more Bigfoot activity but areas closer to the lake boast allot of tourism including water sports. Silver Lake is rather large but nonetheless it is very scenic throughout which is one of the reasons why I live where I do.

I honestly cannot wait to put all the videos, photos, evidence etc onto our site. If this does not make you want to adventure with us nothing will lol. We covered allot of territory so our viewers can enjoy every aspect that ties into to the region.
Peace,
Lord Rick

Although this track does not have length it does have width is the whole reasoning behind the documentation of it. You can clearly see toes especially a large big toe which is twice the size of my own. Whatever made it had to be seriously large considering the track is 8x14.

I found this cave up in some rock formations although its not very large it is big enough for a Bigfoot like creature to crawl into. How large it is inside or deep remains a mystery. Often another name for Bigfoot is the rock ape it is called this due to the fact that they more then often seek shelter up in the rocks.

I found this impression in the woods its very hard telling what made it however it had four ridges which may have been where the toes touched won.

While this track probably is human it was the only one of it kind in this area which I thought was a bit strange.

A closeup of the track we found deep in the Eldorado Forest. Its rather old and weathered but you can clearly see where the heel and toes touched down.

I found this track near Granite Lake its extremely old but what caught my attention of it was the girth of the impression. Whatever made it had a very wide foot and some very large toes. The big toe portion of the track was twice the size of my own. I do believe this is a genuine Bigfoot track that may have been made when the creature bent down to perhaps gather some water.
