Raymond Peak is the third highest mountain in the Mokelumne Wilderness area. The mountain resides along the well known Pacific Crest Trail between Ebbetts Pass SR-4 and SR-88 known as Carson Pass. The views from atop of the summit are amazing considering where it resides you can see from atop of it Freel Peak, Desolation Wilderness, Coast Mountain Range, Emigrant Wilderness, Northern Yosemite and even the Great Basin in NV.

With that in mind the Mokelumne Wilderness area where this mountain is located encompasses about 105,165 acres which reside in parts of the Toiyabe, El Dorado and Stanislaus National forests. The mountain sits in a unique position with Lake Tahoe to the north and the high sierras to the south thus I have had some good theories as to why a creature like Sasquatch might have made his home up here which is the reasoning behind expeditions in this region.

The mountain was named in 1865 after a Rossiter W. Raymond during the Whitney Survey who was a US mineral examiner and commissioner of the mining statistics in the treasury department. The same man also surveyed and wrote reports on many of the mines found in Alpine County. If you remember Kongsberg which today is a ghost town they had a district called the" Raymond District" and even nearby a settlement called "Raymond". If one were to hike from Kongsberg on the Pacific Crest Trail you could technically hit the backside of Raymond Peak. If you look at some of our photos from Kongsberg you will see photos from that trail. Within the sierras everything intertwines and connects via old wagon roads and trails.

Just below the summit are various lakes just to name a few you have Upper and Lower Sunset, Tamarack, Wet Meadows Reservoir, Summit and Raymond Lake. Raymond Lake sits very high up near the summit of Mount Raymond on the backside where once lava spewed from the bowels of the earth millions of years ago. StasticallyRaymond Lake resides at over 9k making it one of the highest elevated bodies of water in all of the Sierra Nevada's.

Although Raymond Peak is no longer an active volcano at one time lava spewed up from its summit creating spires of molten rock which cooled created some of its unique rock formations found here today. Then as you stand below one can see Little Indian Valley a basin that goes on for miles full of bright green grass, wild flowers and lush meadows. Adjacent from this region is Blue Lakes, Forestdale Divide and Hope Valley both locations we have also focused some of our research at. Traversing this region is like being in a lost world as large granite rock surround many various lakes and pools of water.

The El Dorado National Forest which borders the Mokelumne Wilderness encompasses 800,000 acres and is known for its Bigfoot lore. Being that both contain a large amount of mountains, forest, creeks, lakes and wilderness its possible anything cryptid could reside back here. Its a very large area formed from volcanic activity and glacier activity leaving behind its unique geography that is found here today.

There is no place like this place in the world like most of the locations we explore they are unique on some many levels. Everything surrounding Mt. Raymond is pristine such as its blue to aqua waters. The beautiful rock formations where the trees protrude from them and lush wildlife is really an ideal habitat for a creature such as Sasquatch to be able to sustain itself here. We put allot of work into these updates so that our viewers could seen these gems and feel that they are journeying with us without you ever having to leave your seats.
