The truth heartbeat of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range is the Carson Pass. Within the pass nearly 1200' above it is one of the most prestigious geological formations that can be seen from so many locations we have done Monster Expeditions at which is "The Elephants Back". Personally I never knew anything about this geological formation till one day I went offroading below it on the backside at a place called The Forestdale Divide where the sierras crest.

In 1844 John C. Fremont led a group of men through the Carson Pass to reach Sutters Fort along with an Indian Fighter, Guide Thomas Fitzpatrick and of course Kit Carson. I guess not much has changed I see myself an explorer much like they were will battle snow, cliffs, canyons, rivers, thick foliage etc to get to the places we need to go. This was no easy expedition most of it was not spent on any trails as we climbed through snow, over rushing creeks and scrambled over rocks the size of trucks. Most of it was well worth spent in the wilderness documenting ponds, creeks and fauna like the 1844 team did.

Strangely that very same team would have seen Elephants Back it has not changed in perhaps thousands of years in fact their is no trees growing on this ancient volcanic dome which is rather steep to climb and has the same shape as an Elephants Back. Men like Fremont and Kit Carson began to name various geological landmarks during their expedition later the emigrants would use such landmarks to find a way through the pass or certain areas they would cattle ranch at.

One thing I have learned over the past few years of working with this area is that the Bigfoot population that resides within the Mokelumne Wilderness and ElDorado National Forest is quite healthy. You have to speculate that with all the lakes, wildlife, foliage, berries, pine nuts etc that their is enough here to sustain more then one Bigfoot like creature. This is besides the fact that even the Elephants Back region is a primate playground with so many places for something to hide all the way from dens to thick forest full of granite rocks to remote peaks.

The Elephants Back expedition kind of resides in an area that I been working with for years surrounded by many other nearby locations we have worked with. Locations like Hawkins Peak, Stevens Peak, Red Peak, Mount Raymond, The Devils Ladder & Red Peak, Round Top Peak Expedition, Blue Lakes and The Forestdale Divide. All areas we have had credible bigfoot experiences and collected evidence. Their are many other places surrounding this location I did not even list like Round Top Peak and Meiss Lake & Red Peak as well as The Showers Lake Expedition which also has some great views of the Elephants Back. The premises of the expedition was to take us up into the Carson Wilderness which is part of the ElDorado National Forest and eventually traverse towards Round Top Peak which I summated in 2013. Then to visit Lake Winnemucca which some call Blue Lake since its so crystal blue in color eventually traversing into the Mokelumne Wilderness summating the Elephants Back then slowly working our way down to Frog Lake then the mighty Carson Pass. This would allow us to cover many square miles during our monster expedition and also visit historical sites.

For example along the way is an old Arrastra which is a pit used for grinding ore. Their is also the area where Kit Carson carved his name into a tree and even the Snowshoe Thompson Monument. Thompson was a legend he would never carry a weapon and would ski all over the sierras just to deliver postal mail. Sometimes he would rescue others or bring in supplies to ranchers or towns in development found in the sierras like Placerville for example. Snowshoe Thompson is buried in Genoa Historic Cemetery one of the oldest in the state of Nevada. Their is just so much history to the area all the way dating back to the gold rush when miners filled their gold pans along the streams that enter and exit these streams to the lakes you see all the way to the thousands of emigrants who traversed the pass basically meandering around The Elephants Back in the 1800's.

What I can tell you about the area is quite a few people did not survive the trek some died and were buried in the woods. Hikers over the years have either vanished or died in avalanches. Their are UFOs in the area and I have seen enough proof in my journeys just in this region alone to say that something big is making these tracks and it lives in this region which is quite vast if you really want to delve into our albums found on this addition of this expedition which is entirely up to you the viewer. Nobody pays me to do what I do I am an adventurer, explorer and I do what I do out of love for the great outdoors. I do not get paid to do this I am not famous I want nothing out of this my son and I we work hard at what we do to help educate others on the history as well as the mystery which surrounds the locations we work with. This region being a part of The Sierra Triangle is known for its Bigfoot and UFO activity not to mention its chemtrails/contrails which sometimes stay up in the sky for hours here you have multiple strange things all occurring at the same time.

The Elephants Back is also been known to be called Elephant Mountain or The Elephant depending on how you climb it the hike can be very strenuous. We climbed it right up the side it was steep and the volcanic rubble is a real pain in the ass. You will slip allot and slide so it is important not to roll an ankle here. With it being about a 5 to 6 mile hike to reach it at the top of the summit it reached to about 9585'. The views of Caples Lake, Round Top Peak, Carson Pass and the Sisters its a million dollar view. It is not the highest of peaks in the region but its a unique landmark that gives you views 360 degrees of multiple lakes and a vast look into the Mokelumne Wilderness which 105,165 acre Mokelumne Wilderness straddles the crest of the central Sierra Nevada, within the Stanislaus, Eldorado, and Toiyabe National Forests. Then you have to take into consideration it is another 5 to 6 mile hike back to the pass which we actually hiked down to then through the ElDorado Forest so for our team this was a 12 mile jaunt of blood, sweat and tears. So when you sift through this addition to our site we want you to delve deep into one of the greatest journeys we have taken within the Carson Pass sort of a grand finale to finishing off most of our research in this region.

The ElDorado National Forest is bordered on the north by the Tahoe National Forest, on the east by the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, on the southeast by the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, and to the south by the Stanislaus National Forest. Also the Mokelumne Wilderness borders it prior to entering the Round Top Peak and Elephants Back area. The forest resides in Amador, Alpine and Placer County California. It also reaches all the way up into Douglas County Nevada with a total of 586,724 acres and appears to have more Bigfoot sightings and evidence then almost anywhere in the entire state of California. Its extremely vast and prime real estate for a Bigfoot like creature. My experiences run very deep with Bigfoot in this national forest which just pushes me to my limits to find this elusive Cryptid which someone even as thorough as I am can spend years searching for. All these counties I have found bigfoot evidence in and have done allot of journeying throughout even having a bigfoot sighting of my own this creature is very real and with an area as vast as this who knows what other unknown species exist within this vast expanse.

This region connects to so many vast places like for example in the Stanislaus Forest we once were attacked with rocks being thrown at us. These creatures can cover allot of mileage in a matter of a day or two. Just as they can leave the higher sierras when their are to many hikers in the region and migrate up to the Carson Range which runs along the Nevada border to locations like Jobs Peak, Genoa Peak and Kings Canyon. You could spend an entire lifetime searching for this creature and by the end of that search your going to have more questions then answers. Just imagine that The Elephants Back is just one region out of similar regions across the globe but it is a place full of beauty, history, lore and allot of sites that your going to see from one expedition here alone which is what truly makes it amazing to see all this within one day brought to our viewers.
