Seminole State Forest

This was a last minute investigation planned and it was on our way home so I figured a woods hike would do us some good. We drove down this woodsy road leading to an open parking area and trailhead. The trailhead had some pamphlets on the trails and area. There really is not alot of history to the area accept that it at one time was home to the Seminole Indians. As you know Indian land is strange with all the myths, ghost lights, tales and creatures foretold.

We walked up a dirt road which the further we went the more woodsy it became. Our original plane was to take the dirt road to a horse trail which goes in a loop and comes back out. But with twenty one miles of horse trails it was obvious that this forest was fairly large and anything could hide back in here.

We walked a long ways up the dirt road and James kept hearing something following us. At first I paid no mind to the movement but after awhile whatever it was made itself obvious. We would take a few steps then stop and whatever this was happened to stop when we did.

We kept walking tried to just ignore the fact we were being followed till we came out to a giant clearing. There was a field to the left and to the right woods. We stayed on this dirt road until we came to a curved trail which we assumed was our loop. The problem is that on the trailhead they have different trails for different routes and unfortunately we noticed that the trail was poorly labeled so we went on a hunch.

We took this horse trail for quite sometime perhaps a mile deep into the woods as it curved and twisted. The woods were extremely cold. I could not even feel out cold spots anymore it was just the whole entire woods. After walking for quite sometime we started to realize we were going deeper into the woods and the trail was not looping around.

We sat down dead center of the trail and took a break. We were all very tired out and I studied the map I had of the area. The map showed some camps up ahead but a couple more miles so we decided to head on back before we got in too deep. We heard this weird bird like sounds it was a sound I could not identify which really intensified the investigation.

I do not know if it was reptile or prehistoric sounding but it was a pretty big bird type of sound. We hiked back out to the dirt road and we had woods on both sides. We stood still because we thought we heard some sort of movement so we did not even flinch.

After sitting there quietly we heard a giant branch snap. Something very heavy stepped down to hard and you could heard the wood just snap. I estimated the sound and snap to be something about four hundred pounds minimum to cause such a loud snap.  Whatever it was had to be watching us standing still. There was no other snaps just one so we know it was not a deer or bear. But it was very loud and crisp. Something was out in these woods at this point and it was intelligent.

We went down the woodsy dirt road came out to a clearing. The fog was rolling in so bad we could hardly even see anymore and we had over a mile hike back to the car. We kept walking along the dirt road as ecosystems were change from pine, to cedar, to empty fields.

As we made our way back James looked back and seen something all black, bipedal, and standing behind us on the road. It was staring us down. It was right in the middle of the road just watching us. I did not see it but James said he looked the first time seen it turned his head to talk to us turned back and it was gone. What amazed us is how stealthy it was being and how fast it was able to appear an disappear. Based on James description of the creature I believe we had a skunk ape encounter here and I believe it knew we were their as well as not supposed to be hiking at that hour of the night.

We made our way back to the car and got in. As I started it up to my left I thought I seen a black bear lumbering around when it turned out to be a dog. It was slowly following my car staring at me. The eyes on the dog were almost scary it had a real cold scare like the animal we seen was either ghostly or perhaps a shape shifter. The dog was black but it sort of looked like a wolf.

I stopped the car and the dog walked fairly close up to my car staring me down. I had Aaron take a photo of the forest sign and looked to my left again at the dog. He then crossed in front of our car looking back at Aaron. He walked down the road to the right and we looked the dog vanished. We do not know if this dog was ghostly, a shape shifter, a phantom creature but I will never forget them eyes as it stared us down then vanished.

The dog appeared to be waited outside the trailhead which I thought was odd. Whatever was in these woods wanted us out and seen to it we left because even though the dog did not bark it was apparent that it followed the car out onto the main road quite odd besides that giant black creature standing on the road making sure we were leaving.

Was this bigfoot or do the Seminoles have advanced knowledge's and wisdoms beyond our understanding?

In conclusion to the evening we turned a poor night into some damn good investigations. We hope eventually we can return to these places perhaps to learn a little more about them. We also hope we can find the other cemeteries eventually which in my opinion is a quest in itself. We had a very productive night though between hearing the ghostly man at the movie theatre to being followed by something in Seminole State Forest. I am sure we came out of each place with some fairly decent photos as well. Peace
Rick
