Pacific Daylight Time Our explorations just keep on getting better as we headed on out to the little semi ghost town of Searchlight. The same location Harry Reid grew up at which as much as we seen signs of this in the little ole cemetery we also seen graffiti blurring out their own choice words of the politician. Searchlight is like the sister town of Nelson up in El Dorado Canyon an old mining type of town that played a role in the development of the wild west. I never thought years ago that I would visit such places in search of the strange. But their is more to the strange out there such as great photography.....history.....and good times to be shared with those close around you. Searchlight always made me curious as locals told me tales of bottomless mines and remnants of the old town. Over the last couple years passing through here to get coffee....or fill up gas seemed to be a tradition. Who would ever have know that the mountain ranges on both sides hold many secrets and explorable places. I have worked very hard to bring back a very traditional Paranormal & Ghost Society adventure like the days when we use to covertly go into asylums....or historical train stations. What I want to tell my members and my fans is I am far from done as a matter in fact I have a long future planned out for adventures even if I am hobbling I enjoy having this opportunity to share my journeys with others. Searchlight for us would reveal many stops as we traversed around all evening....night....and morning in various locations. It was a busy night as we visited quite a few locations.....some were eerie while others were just intriguing. You never know what might happen or where the trip could end up that is the fun part of paranormal investigating. Tammy and I visited various parts of the town of Searchlight, Searchlight Cemetery, The Duplex Mine, Hobson House, Good Hope Mill and The Pittsburgh. We even made stops at Cotton Wood Cove & Black Mountain just extra places we would have fun at. I had not had an exploration in awhile that involved various sorts of locations so the night would turn into a good old fashioned Paranormal & Ghost Society adventure. As always we packed for the night clothes...food....drinks.....loads of lights etc so that wherever we are at we are totally prepared. Being out in the desert is a dangerous place their are lizards in death valley that can kill you while there are things in the Mojave that can eat you. These are just hardcore facts and each time we leave a place we are fortunate to come out of them with good health. Over the years you wonder does anybody actually read what its like to be a real paranormal investigator. Watching shoes on television you get entertained but what I show you is a more behind the scenes type of look. You get to see the good the bad and the ugly all together as one. Searchlight keep in mind is where politician Harry Reid grew up so one of the place we chose were in relation to him. I travel to places not just of the dead but the living as well and so the area has a little history surrounding his name including a street called Harry Reid. The ride on up to Searchlight was pretty calm its nice to chill to some music let the skylite open and enjoy the sun setting. When I arrived in Searchlight it was dark. It seemed later then it was but this little town goes dead once the sun goes down. The only traffic you tend to see is the traffic on the expressway which divides the town in two halves. I rolled into town thinking everytime I go thru here I look at the old mine chutes on the hill and wonder. This town has mines surrounding it no different then Nelson with abandonment's too. Nothing is more exciting then seeing something of the past left behind waiting to be explored not knowing if a ghost lurks around the corner. So we stopped at the gas station not filling up for gas despite we were on low a big no no almost but ill explain later. We decided to do our first area of searchlight an area that boasted one of the first mines in town and of a military plane crash that took 10 lives. Searchlight Nevada Did not see any old searchlights here but seen on the various hills antennas and other structures surrounding the town. We started our investigation off by looking for a few burial plots within the town itself. I never thought wood crosses would be hard to look for but they are when the town is built up around them. Then their is the thought they no longer exist because of vandalism....perhaps removal of the graves.....or just the elements. We actually got out of the car walked down some of the gloomy streets looking in various fields we never found a thing but some pieces of the cross laying on the ground. Their was a guy stumbling around he looked as if he had a bit to much at the local pub downtown. Personally myself I could have used a beer. I know when locals look at me they can tell I do not belong here. Across from the post office their was an abandoned boarded up brick building. I did not enter it as it sat a few free from other residences. But I will say it reminded me allot of WNY back in the day seeing something abandoned next to a residential home. We did not find the Bullock Graves but again found some very old pieces of wood where the graves were supposed to be. We got back into the car driving around town to find the Wheatley Grave with four others unmarked. We produced the same results seeing 4 homes on each corner with no grave markers. I was hoping to work more with the Anna Wheatley ghost on this investigation based on the tragedy that occurred within the town many years ago. We drove around town just joy riding at this point something I like to do on occasion in such places. You never know what you might find this is the spontaneous part of me. So we came up to the library near it an old mine chute with a mine cart in front of it. I seen other old mine machinery such as a drill in a rock and some memorials. I read on a memorial how right near this area a military plane went down it was quite large killing 10 men on board. Not sure how this happened at the time but had to assume it had to deal with the fact the airport runway is just a couple miles from downtown. Its amazing how many locations I visited recently that had a plane wreck. I had asked for a sign from the unknown out loud Tammy heard me then seconds later the street lights started blinking on and off. It was like a morris code sort of. First one light went off then the other....then one turned on then the other. The lights were not doing this when we arrived Tammy caught notice to this and that was probably my paranormal event of the night. Across from the site was an empty field and surrounding the old mine chute was a few other memorials. Their was a real dismal feeling surrounding the town its in the air. Allot of the houses are very old but most people live in trailers. We did head for the cemetery and a couple mines before visiting another abandoned house with the bathroom window busted in. It was a big old wooden house not something you see much of in Nevada period. I miss those days where we visited houses they are allot of fun to do. It seemed Searchlight had these type of houses. Another house with a mine in the backyard had the words F* You Harry Reid of course we would save it for a second visit but I did photograph it just to give others a an insight to the fact that this is a semi ghost town. Some things within the town are booming while other things from a century ago are just in deplorable shape. I spent half of the trip just driving in small trailer communities....some with giant gates saying no trespassing while other parts of town had dead ends or houses with mines in their backyards. Rumor has it the entire town is haunted so I went on a hunt to see how true this is. Other then a few stumbling locals I didn't see a single ghost within town. But ill admit their were a few places that glowed with energy so perhaps a second trip here delving deeper into the towns history might reveal a bit more. Beyond downtown is allot of houses with old mining equipment laying around things from the towns early hay day. Beyond downtown are scattered houses....beyond that are the mountains which grace both sides of the town with various mines most inaccessible now.
