Last night we once again ventured out into the Ocala Forest a place full of Indian ghost, mystical springs, and heavy foliage. We been focusing on this area a lot lately great for bigfoot excursions. We set off about 10pm at night and had plans to do three places.

We first tried to visit Alexander Springs which is the site of a Indian Trail but a ranger or security came running out staring at us as we parked so we just decided to skip it and move on to our two other sites being Salt Springs & The Yearling Trail.

These areas are heavily wooded full of pine and sand scrubs, palmetto brush, swamps, ponds and lakes. One could easily get lost in this type of area we were in and anything could be out there. We started off at Salt Springs and our journey begins here.

Salt Springs

I was excited to visit here cause I always passed by this place and never had the chance to go in and check it out. Jason and I followed a truck with a boat trailer down the dirt road leading to the trail head.

The area was pitch black and almost too quiet. We parked the car at the trail head and tried to hit  up the small blue trail in the area. It would be a nice start for the night to get a feel for the area. We read the trail head their was very little information on the length of the trail however.

We started to take the trail and I heard a dog way off in the distance but I also heard something else that was loud in the distance. Not sure what it was but the trail was quit mild in activity. The trail started off over grown and spread out more as it went along the highway for awhile then it cut on into the woods.

Eventually it took us to a dirt road and all the blue markings on the trees ceased to exist. Why does this not surprise me I mean most trails in Florida are overgrown or hidden at times. We took the road for quite a ways which led us to an open area.

At this point there was a few wood post covered by brush that seemed to lead to an old unmarked trail. Rather then take it I figured we would try to make our way back then hike towards the springs instead perhaps hoping to find other areas to explore.

The trees and brush were fairly spread out further apart so I took us through the woods a few hundred feet which led us back onto the blue trail. We eventually reached the parking area. I heard a few branches snap and movement probably animals since the area is to populated for bigfoot.

We took the road leading to the marina and springs area. As we kept walking the light from the marina became brighter. I was not sure what to expect here since we seen so many cars and boats. We did head to the visitors center to read a little bit about the history to the area and the different species of fish.

There were many boats scouring the water with lights and long rods. I am not sure if they were gator hunting or fishing. But some of the boats were shining the spotlights on land and staying close to shore. Then some other people were on a boat in the dark talking away.

It was a very active area in the sense of people but it also felt dismal or gloomy. Jason and I took a look at the springs they were not very crystal clear like other places we been but the area was a large open area surrounded by trees and many boaters. One of the boaters shined the lights on Jason and I for awhile they probably thought they were seeing things.

We decided to head over to the boat house where we seen at least 20 boats. These boats were flat bottom boats most with seats in them. Like I said probably used for catching gators since they are so low to the water. Only a few boats were missing from the boat house and we also heard something thrashing in the water when we were walking on the docks.

We did head off after a short time it was not an active area but I did feel a few cold spots in the picnic area. It would seem that perhaps there is a little bit of energy here along with that some history to the area and so we headed on off to the Yearling Trail.
