Palm Island Park & Grantham Point

We parked and their was this guy looking into his telescope at the park. He must had thought we were crazy cause we grabbed an ice cold beer, our gear, and I started taking a few photos. Do not worry one beer is not going to kill me in the 2 hours I spent here hiking here lol for those that misconstrue things about our team or think they know it all.

We started off by focusing on grantham point. Its actually a peninsula that goes out into the open water of Lake Dora. We took our time I found a giant cone actually cone of all cones lol Ill leave it at that.

We also found some geese or ducks I cannot tell the difference I am a ghost buster not a bird water lol:) So I took some close up photos as nature plays a big part in some of our investigations. Its important for others to see what we encounter living and nonliving.

We spent sometime at the lighthouse which was not very big but its red flash illuminated the water for quite a ways. Their was also a very old cannon at the point, some wood contraption with wire fencing, lots of slabs of concrete which probably came off a structure at one time near by and a wood dock near by.

The point was real mild no activity but it was a great area to sit get a feel for where we wanted to go. I sensed greatly to the left of the lake a lot of energy. That area was undeveloped, mainly trails, woods, and swamps. If their was going to be a ghost that would be where it is at so we made plans to go for a woods hike after we finished the point and lake front park.

We started walking back and the birds were just staying a few feet in front of us. We turned off to the left and went on about 3 different fishing docks. One of them they were building a bridge on it said keep off etc etc but we still went on it I mean hey if we get a little wet so what right? But of course when I got off of the docks and was taking photos we spotted a sign near by that said alligator habitat and breeding area beware.

Upon reading the sign a really pretty older blonde approached me and told me that a couple weeks ago they pulled out a few really giant gators from here. I said ummm maybe I should not be standing so close to the shoreline she just laughed she thought I was actually taking gator picture. But honestly the only thing I had on my mind was ghost ghost ghost lol.

Then we walked around the park some more and a couple guys and girls all dressed up were walking making out. Yes you guessed it people from the wedding reception we just momentarily attended lol at The Donnelly House & Park. I was starting to get the feeling that Palm Island Park was a place where lovers go hold hands and kiss cause I seen a lot more of that going on then I did ghost lol.

Jason and I kept walking along the path and found a gazebo made by children and a few memorials one of them was made by children who's mother use to walk along the wake passed away so they put a plaque up. It was a real serene place as across the street their were many old big creepy houses.

A lot of people laugh when they say why investigate a park but see before it was a park houses, cabins, plantations, death and even life occurred in some places like this. Many people who once walked this beautiful shoreline have passed on. Imagine how many people shared their first kiss here or fell in love so this park has symbolic meaning to the Mount Dora area.

We did temporary halt the investigation as we were nearing our third location for the evening which was the Mount Dora & Lake Eustis Railway. But before I get into that investigation Id like to talk about what we did after it which was the the other half of Palm Island Park.

We went back on over to Grantham Point and started heading towards the woods. On our way back we spotted a bald eagle. Actually we seen him a couple times but this time we were able to get a lot closer. If you have ever seen one of these before they are gigantic in size quite a loud and powerful bird. This really was one of my first times seeing one live so I was pretty excited.

We passed the point and walked into the woods in a picnic area their was also a sign for the park. We started our hike on a wooden boardwalk as it went right over the water and swampy areas along the lake shore. As we got further away all we could see was the blinking light getting dimmer from the lighthouse.

The woods around us were starting to get thicker and the board walk split up a couple times in different directions but it goes for about 1700 feet. We stayed along the shore at first till the boardwalk ended with a stairwell which led into the woods. The trail we hiked on twisted and turned as the woods became more unfriendly over time. Actually the path was becoming more narrow for every few feet we hiked. Soon we were ducking under trees, climbing over logs, and going through high brush. I ended up cutting my leg up I do not know where I did it at but as I was walking it stung and their was blood just running down my shin. So these woods were not to friendly.

As we were hiking we heard an owl it just went wooooooo quite a few times. But then I heard what sounded like maybe a scream near by. Things did not pick up for awhile but along the trail we were being followed by something I do not think it was a skunk ape but it was something walking and sounded more ghostly in nature. Then later on something huge crashed up in the trees probably a possum but who knows. The whole tree shook and this happened in two different areas on the path as if something was moving high up in the trees.

I do not know what to make of the area their is a lot of swamps and their was a big old oak tree with no branches in the middle of the path. Eventually it ended so we turned around and took a different path which led us to some extreme cold spots around a picnic bench in the woods. I was able to see in the flash and entity in front of us moving around. I think it was as surprised as us cause we turned the corner snapped a photo and wham their it was lol.

We hiked up this trail till we found a few signs posted on the trees that stated live oak. We also found a different part of the wood board walk so we went up the stairs proceeded here till it led us back to the shoreline of Lake Dora. We kept walking on the board walk and made another turn down an area we did not visit on our way up.

This area had a wide trail and it dead ended at someone's back yard lol. But their was this really spooky tree that had a giant hole in it. We looked up and the entire tree was hollow all the way up. I called this in my head the witches tree now do not get any strange ideas if anybody visits here lol. But it just added to that October spookiness ya know creepy trees around Halloween. The inside of the tree looked burnt like someone had a fire in here at one time.

We hiked back and eventually reached the car. I do have to say that their were parts of the trail that were much cooler, their was movement, their was some noises in the woods and overall I could sense ALOT of energy in these woods. So technically supernatural activity within the park is isolated to this area so it seems based on my conclusion to the investigation of it. Their is a lot of history here I mean this trail in the woods at one time probably was a wagon trail which led to Eustis another bit town which is not to far away. We headed to the Ice House Theatre after the park but first lets talk about the Mount Dora Lake Eustis Railway.
