The Nickel Ravine Plant
 
Tammy and I would be crossing the Virgin River the same one we spent sometime on in Zion back in May. Finding the plant near it would not be easy. As it sat down in a ravine near nothingness. I wanted to get familiar with the area a little since I have plans of some other investigations nearby.
 
As we crossed the river we tried to find a pull off so we could chill out for a little bit to give everybody a general idea of what the area was like. The river runs right through the desert never seen anything like it really in my life its pretty cool. It reminded me of those rivers you see in documentaries like the Nile River.
 
Of course we to explore the river first or at least try after we pulled up to a dirt road which led us to sounds of a huge barking dog so I set my course for the plant instead. I figured I would come back to the river on the other side where no big dogs could slobber on the hood of the car lol.  I took a dirt road it was not labeled which led us into a series of rolling hills and deep curvy cuts in the earth. The road was okay but it had allot of sharp rocks so we had to tread carefully as it went up and down curving and turning giving us no visibility as to where we had to go. Their was also some other roads that intersected with this location so one wrong turn could mean us being lost in the darkness.
 
Surprisingly I took all the right turns which ended up taking us to this giant ravine or at least in front of a steep road going into it. The road going down into the ravine almost looked like a cliff drop off when I pulled the car right up tot he edge.. Trust me I got out of the car stood on a cliff looking down this steep road and was contemplating whether I should take the car down into this place so instead I parked it decided it would be best to hike down on in get some nice exercise under the night sky..
 
The bottom of the ravine was smooth no plants or obstacles the issue however was getting down there so we did what we are use to doing....parking and hiking in the old fashioned way. When I stood up on the cliff I could not see anything at the bottom of the ravine. I was not even sure what it is at the time I found but I seen a couple earth movers.....piles of concrete and metal.
 
Tammy and I went down into the ravine not knowing if this was the location or not. I didn't care at this point just wanted to do some old fashioned exploring. With my very own eyes I was saddened to see that the entire plant was reduced to a pile of ruins. Their was 6 dumpster's filled with slabs of concrete from the plants building. The network of giant red pipes so large a person could crawl through them was all pushed over on its side.
 
Its possible that to many locals were hanging out here getting into trouble who knows but this was a pretty solid structure totally leveled to nothing. The giant pipes were scattered all over the places and behind the plant was piles of concrete slabs and glass.
 
I am not sure what the plant was used for but the ravines sandy bottom was covered in silver particles so I do believe that this was a silver processing mill. We wandered around this location for over an hour as the ground twinkled as much as the stars in the sky.
 
I actually crawled inside of the long red pipes perhaps I will be the last one to do this now that the entire factory is being hauled off. They had some odd looking things on site like what appeared to be a steam or water tower....some sort of sifter....and maybe even a giant grinder hard to say. It looked as if the series of pipes from the plant was pushed on over as the concrete base was just laying on its side still connected to the network of red pipes.
 
Tammy and I found a foundation so we set up our base camp here for EVP and UFO watching. I did not see it but while I was busy looking at the pipes Tammy noticed an object moving to the Northeast at a tremendous amount of speed. This would be the first out of three other objects which did not give off much light but traveled northeast. Tammy claimed the objects were moving in a straight line although she also said it looked as if the object was moving away from the earth meaning out of orbit.
 
In addition to the UFO sightings over the plant their was some nice shooting stars which not sure if it was here or not but Tammy also seen a giant orange ball of light. It was a great night for UFO watching no clouds....no moon out at the time....and we were in the middle of nowhere.
 
Tammy felt something touch her maybe a bug....or rock who knows but I shined my light did not see anything on that concrete slab. At least it isn't like the spider she had in her hair up at Robbers Roost and may I remind you when you visit such sites you encounter it all the rats...the bats and the creepy crawlies to lol. Sometimes thought what is touching you is not any of those three and well sometimes ghost touch others too trust me I been there. I had something up in a cemetery touch me once in GA it was brief but it grabbed my shoulder then you turn around nothing is there same type of concept.
 
I felt pretty relaxed at the plant but I did hear some movement not sure what it was maybe an animal.  The ravine was very quiet their were a few foundations or bases which held the pipes up. While the main building was reduced to piles of 8 inch thick concrete. It appeared that the demolishing of the factory was very recent as their were two heavy pieces of machinery. If I would have visited the site a week ago it would have been an entirely different scene.
 
Their was not much else to see here as Tammy said its a great place to stargaze but this historical plant will be long gone before anybody will ever have a chance to explore it. I had some fun here climbing on the pipes.....sifting through the ruins etc we found a cool rock with a chunk of silver in it.
 
We also did our Halloween Promo here of course take photos etc. Some of the photos did not come out the ravine is very dusty as the bottom of it is a soft sand. Towards the back where the old plant once stood I stepped in sand that went past my ankles thus filling my shoes.
 
I estimate that at the rate the clean up is going by the time others see it on our site their will not even be a small sign something was here at one time. I know that despite this fact I got another cool location in the area ill be eventually investigating. As their are many mines and other historical sites within the area we probably will work with a little.
 
Tammy did capture an ectoplasmic picture here along with a couple other areas we ventured into that night. I guess ghost can show in the most unexpected locations. One day industrial monsters like Nickel Creek will no longer stand thus seeing such sites is always a treat.
 
After having fun here we decided to head back up out of the ravine it was a pretty steep climb lots of little things like rocks rolling....having to at times use our hands to break our falls etc. Its a good thing I didn't take the car down into here. I did however park just a few feet from the drop off should have taken a photo it was pretty odd looking just climb up to the car.
 
The way out of here was a little tricky like I said their is nothing out here just a bunch of washes and rocky roads. When I seen the main road I felt pretty lucky considering again one wrong turn could mean roaming Anasazi territory which is pretty harsh.
 
When we crossed the road I found an area that I pulled off at and their was this manmade lock created from an old wagon wheel. The lock was up and their was a raging passage of rushing water. I had to be careful because falling in might mean injury, death or just the fact of getting everything wet. The channel led into the Virgin River and it had these old cement slanted walls dropping off into the dirty rushing water. The lock on the other hand did not look very stable it had some old wood boards laying across it that were hanging by a thread while everything was held by rusted chains and pulleys.
 
 I was studying the lock and channel when Tammy seen an orange streak of light and particles fizzing downward from the night sky. It could have been miles away or maybe hundreds of miles. I think some of us do not appreciate the wonders of the night sky till you get out under it. That is what our society mainly does is allot of night hikes and they are all very rewarding.
 
Tammy and I walked up to the river after this the river was flowing fast and you could hear the rapids. I was thinking to myself about how fun it would be to do a little fishing. Damn I remember back in the day I use to bring my fishing pole on investigations just to throw my pole in the water during my investigations lol. The river was pretty cool and I am sure that the water obtained to run the plant came from this little pull off just across the road.
 
I tried to investigate a homestead up the road but that also was torn down. I spent a good half hour driving around going up unmarked dirt roads etc and we never did find the place. But this part of the virgin river in the Mojave is mainly all farms and ranches. Everything near the river is a little greener not something you see to often out here it was nice out and cooler so it was nice having the skylite down and cruising to some Santana lol. Smoke a little joint and everything is gonna be alright.
 
We also went down this one road that leads to some pretty scenic hiking locations just exploring around. Their was a truck passing us the guy was flying fast we totally were blinded with dust I had to almost come to a stop because this guy was flying kicking up sand and everything.
 
After our little adventure at the plant and river we decided it was time to head on out to hidden valley. I thought it would be an early night for us and that we would get back into town earlier then expected boy was I wrong. I may have not found the homestead on the river but I found something even better.
 
Finally over the mountains the crescent moon had shown itself like an eclipse something was in the air but thus enough moonlight a new homestead was found. Imagine pulling up to a house that sits in the thick your headlights hitting the windows and you feel it call out to you.

I would like to say that this is an orb but due to its irregular shape and color it is at this point an unknown anomaly. You can come to your own conclusions this is a lock that sits across from the factory.
