Ghost Town Of Brewster

This place was very secluded and what I found unusual driving out near here is all the old factories and train tracks. I seen a few places just out in the middle of nowhere and tracks every few miles. But the area seemed to have no houses or even towns.

Eventually in the darkness very far off in the distance I seen a smoke stack from the old Brewster Powerplant Factory. It looked like it was way out in the middle of the forest. I tried to find a road out to it but it was hopeless so eventually I found a place to park near some old freight train tracks and Jason was pretty tired but he eventually got out of the car.

We grabbed our gear and entered a private road which was covered in dead high grass and blocked with a fence. Near the entrance was a blanket with a phone, beer bottles, and other belongings. So there was signs of hobos possibly in the area. So after I seen that I did grab my sword cause honestly if somebody is living out in the woods they may just live in the power plant.

It was still very dark out and Jason was way behind me as I was walking very fast through the high weeds and brush. The entire area use to be a fairly large town. Along that road at one time there use to be houses, stores, school, doctors office, recreation center etc etc and eventually the mining town was moved and everything was demolished.

So I tried to at least paint a picture in my head since the roads were heavily grown over with plant life you could see the open areas where houses were once at. We did hit a small patch of woods and the road became swampy and also the brush became thicker until it curved and we dead ended at a very razor sharp barbed wire fence.

I spread the fence open and slipped threw. This barbed wire literally stuck to the bottoms of my sneaker so one wrong move and I would have been cut easily. We made it on the grounds and grass was growing through the cracks of the concrete.

We also found some over grown railroad tracks and approached the giant smoke stack. The sky was getting a little lighter but still no sun out. There was a giant hole on the side of the smoke stack and nothing but blackness as we looked inside.

We did carefully walk through the rubble and found a tunnel inside the smoke stack. We shined our spotlight up and seen a giant eagles nest at the top. But in the dark it looked like some creature looking down. The smoke stack was very old lined inside with brick.

While inside the smoke stack I heard movement outside of it like something was waiting for us. It started off as rustling then walking sounds. I told Jason to use caution when he exited the little tunnel just in case. But it set off my alerts I knew something was outside watching perhaps ghostly.

We exited and in the high grass was various piles of junk whether it was tin roofing, rusted machinery or tools, concrete slabs etc we first entered this building which would be a series of concrete structures with arched entrances.

The buildings had plants growing in them and were heavily in ruins from the weather over the years. Many walls had holes in them. Each building connected one after another and of course at one time the power plant had a few stories and was much larger.

We entered a garage like building which had a rusted metal door and an area with a giant collapsed roof. We had to be very careful climbing the pile of concrete which fell off the garage roof. We then made our way onto the other side of the structures and this side seemed more active with energy. A few times I thought I seen something move quickly in the flash.

We did visit the smoke stack one last time and dawn was arising. It is hard to believe that at one time this power plant supplied the mining town of Brewster. We then followed a little grassy road along an old set of rusty railroad tracks which led us to an abandoned freight train.

By the time we arrived at the train dawn had arrived there was no sun out but it was light enough to see our entire surroundings. Thousands of black birds were coming out of the trees all over above us. It was like swarms of bees or like the horror movie the birds.

We started walking down a set of railroad tracks and found a dead giant bird rotting away. We were very far from the car since we actually took a different way back. We ended up at another dead end where the freight train was and we hiked through a bunch of thorn or thistle bushes.

Things were getting pretty bad I had a thorn caught in my finger and they were penetrating my jeans. I ripped my jeans in many places as we cut threw the dead thorn brush which landed us at a creek which was impossible to cross so we had to go all the way back through the field of thorns eventually finding a dry area to cross onto the main set of tracks.

On the main set of tracks I felt a ghostly presence. I am sure some people have died on these tracks I mean its an old industrial mining area. We also seen a giant dead bird on the tracks rotting away. Eventually I seen over a hill the road and Jason was trailing behind.

I kept pushing on and cut on over to the road. Jason I noticed turned around and was very far away walking away from me. I figured if he got lost this time I would get to the car and find him driving around lol. I kept going down this woodsy road and around the bend reached salvation.

Then as I was packing up our gear I sat down had something to drink. Jason came down the tracks and he looked so confused. I always take a good look at my surroundings and why? Cause of situations like these cause getting lost is no fun after you been hiking or driving all night.

We did  head for another location or home we had not decided yet. We had one more ghost town to do but we were both exhausted and felt that we would be up this way again so we saved it for another time. On our way out of the ghost town I passed an abandoned gas station and another building. They were interesting but really not worth stopping for.

At that point I was up for over 24 hours had over a two hour drive home, hiked 10 miles, was stabbed by thorns, dug my car out in the cold for almost 6 hours, and had wet feet all the way from the first investigation. So I figured the ghost could wait another day. But for the most part they were pretty nice investigations and I cannot wait to add them to our site.

On our way home we did stop for breakfast at McDonalds and we got home past 10am so definitely it had been a long night. A lot of work went into the investigation. The one thing that makes us different then other paranormal investigators is that we do not give up therefore we always manage to get results.

It does help when we have more investigators and assistance but we have done quite well threw the years for having a smaller team. I do hope to cover more Florida ghost towns in the future. Peace
