Gator Joe's Bar & Ma Barkers
Hideout

I took a ride around the area two shady guys looked at us as we drove around looking for Ma Barkers Cottage.

Eventually We parked at the bar and people across the street were out watching us. Seems like that's all anybody does down here is stare can you see the banjos playing. Their was a community back here much like you would see on Jerry Springer you had trailers, prefabricated homes then the cottages on the lake.

The bar tender to Gator Joe's was having a drink and smoking in the car. He was worried at first about us not in the sense of us hanging out just wondering who we were.

We went onto Johnson's Beach and walked around the bar. Their was sand, a volleyball net, picnic tables, a board walk etc then the two bartenders came out locked on up. They said hi to me and were both friendly so I asked them where Ma Barkers Cottage was they told me that someone now lives in it.

I was really saddened cause Ma Barker's house serves as a memorial or remembrance to one of the greatest shootouts in this countries history. I wont get into the history here but it will be up on our site eventually along with the morgue photos and shootout information.

We went for a walk it was very dismal lots of cottages along the lake and their was one cottage further back we could not reach but that was more then likely it. Well we could have reached it but the cottage went from having bullet holes and abandoned to now a residence totally restored. So the only thing we could do is investigate Gator Joe's cause either way the energy from the shoot out would be present around this entire area.

We arrived back at the bar Jason and I stood up near the shore their was some ducks. Their was also a small pier and the bar stood on these wood pylons under it all their was a real eerie feeling.

For the most part though the area was quiet people across the street were staring blasting 80's music their was a lady watching and I could tell that she was the queen of the community probably been on Springer a few times to and probably missing most of her teeth. I just tell it like it is that's just how it is down here.

Anyhow we walked to the other side of the bar and we went up the steps walked out onto the pier and restaurants back deck. Their were a few dim lights on but this was a cool place. You will see the photos and if it was not closed Id probably grabbed a beer here and some wings. I mean the entire lake was behind the bar and the moon reflected off of it like in a movie.

We took a few more photos then headed on out of here Weirsdale is just not a comfortable place the people here are WEIRD seriously. But the restaurant and bar was pretty nice and we got to take a few photos and turn it into an investigation so everybody could enjoy the Ma Barker's story on the site.

We then took on off to investigate this park which was a no go as well. We parked their was a ranger truck near the area I figured what the hell. Well we did not have much time to work with and the road was miles from the trails after hiking about a mile we turned around cause being towed out here obviously would not be a choice I wanted to take just not fun to be stuck in this town trust me lol.

We also wanted to visit another cemetery same thing a bunch of nosy redneck box houses surrounding it and if went taking photos in their we would have to deal with the locals so another two places lost. Not a loss for us really its a matter of good decision making to avoid conflicts with psychos and obstacles which could deter us.

So we decided to move on and visit the last location of the night which was Lake Eaton Forest & Sinkhole which would have quite a few rewards awaiting us.
