Our explorations just keep on getting better as we headed on out to the little semi ghost town of Searchlight. The same location Harry Reid grew up at which as much as we seen signs of this in the little ole cemetery we also seen graffiti blurring out their own choice words of the politician.

Searchlight is like the sister town of Nelson up in El Dorado Canyon an old mining type of town that played a role in the development of the wild west. I never thought years ago that I would visit such places in search of the strange. But their is more to the strange out there such as great photography.....history.....and good times to be shared with those close around you.

Searchlight always made me curious as locals told me tales of bottomless mines and remnants of the old town. Over the last couple years passing through here to get coffee....or fill up gas seemed to be a tradition. Who would ever have know that the mountain ranges on both sides hold many secrets and explorable places.

I have worked very hard to bring back a very traditional Paranormal & Ghost Society adventure like the days when we use to covertly go into asylums....or historical train stations. What I want to tell my members and my fans is I am far from done as a matter in fact I have a long future planned out for adventures even if I am hobbling I enjoy having this opportunity to share my journeys with others.

Searchlight for us would reveal many stops as we traversed around all evening....night....and morning in various locations. It was a busy night as we visited quite a few locations.....some were eerie while others were just intriguing. You never know what might happen or where the trip could end up that is the fun part of paranormal investigating.

Tammy and I visited various parts of the town of Searchlight, Searchlight Cemetery, The Duplex Mine, Hobson House, Good Hope Mill and The Pittsburgh. We even made stops at Cotton Wood Cove & Black Mountain just extra places we would have fun at. I had not had an exploration in awhile that involved various sorts of locations so the night would turn into a good old fashioned Paranormal & Ghost Society adventure.

As always we packed for the night clothes...food....drinks.....loads of lights etc so that wherever we are at we are totally prepared. Being out in the desert is a dangerous place their are lizards in death valley that can kill you while there are things in the Mojave that can eat you. These are just hardcore facts and each time we leave a place we are fortunate to come out of them with good health.

Over the years you wonder does anybody actually read what its like to be a real paranormal investigator. Watching shoes on television you get entertained but what I show you is a more behind the scenes type of look. You get to see the good the bad and the ugly all together as one.

Searchlight keep in mind is where politician Harry Reid grew up so one of the place we chose were in relation to him. I travel to places not just of the dead but the living as well and so the area has a little history surrounding his name including a street called Harry Reid.

The ride on up to Searchlight was pretty calm its nice to chill to some music let the skylite open and enjoy the sun setting. When I arrived in Searchlight it was dark. It seemed later then it was but this little town goes dead once the sun goes down. The only traffic you tend to see is the traffic on the expressway which divides the town in two halves.

I rolled into town thinking everytime I go thru here I look at the old mine chutes on the hill and wonder. This town has mines surrounding it no different then Nelson with abandonment's too. Nothing is more exciting then seeing something of the past left behind waiting to be explored not knowing if a ghost lurks around the corner.

So we stopped at the gas station not filling up for gas despite we were on low a big no no almost but ill explain later. We decided to do our first area of searchlight an area that boasted one of the first mines in town and of a military plane crash that took 10 lives.

Searchlight Nevada

Did not see any old searchlights here but seen on the various hills antennas and other structures surrounding the town. We started our investigation off by looking for a few burial plots within the town itself. I never thought wood crosses would be hard to look for but they are when the town is built up around them. Then their is the thought they no longer exist because of vandalism....perhaps removal of the graves.....or just the elements.

We actually got out of the car walked down some of the gloomy streets looking in various fields we never found a thing but some pieces of the cross laying on the ground. Their was a guy stumbling around he looked as if he had a bit to much at the local pub downtown. Personally myself I could have used a beer. I know when locals look at me they can tell I do not belong here.

Across from the post office their was an abandoned boarded up brick building. I did not enter it as it sat a few free from other residences. But I will say it reminded me allot of WNY back in the day seeing something abandoned next to a residential home. We did not find the Bullock Graves but again found some very old pieces of wood where the graves were supposed to be.

We got back into the car driving around town to find the Wheatley Grave with four others unmarked. We produced the same results seeing 4 homes on each corner with no grave markers. I was hoping to work more with the Anna Wheatley ghost on this investigation based on the tragedy that occurred within the town many years ago.

We drove around town just joy riding at this point something I like to do on occasion in such places. You never know what you might find this is the spontaneous part of me. So we came up to the library near it an old mine chute with a mine cart in front of it. I seen other old mine machinery such as a drill in a rock and some memorials.

I read on a memorial how right near this area a military plane went down it was quite large killing 10 men on board. Not sure how this happened at the time but had to assume it had to deal with the fact the airport runway is just a couple miles from downtown. Its amazing how many locations I visited recently that had a plane wreck.

I had asked for a sign from the unknown out loud Tammy heard me then seconds later the street lights started blinking on and off. It was like a morris code sort of. First one light went off then the other....then one turned on then the other. The lights were not doing this when we arrived Tammy caught notice to this and that was probably my paranormal event of the night.

Across from the site was an empty field and surrounding the old mine chute was a few other memorials. Their was a real dismal feeling surrounding the town its in the air. Allot of the houses are very old but most people live in trailers.

We did head for the cemetery and a couple mines before visiting another abandoned house with the bathroom window busted in. It was a big old wooden house not something you see much of in Nevada period. I miss those days where we visited houses they are allot of fun to do. It seemed Searchlight had these type of houses.

Another house with a mine in the backyard had the words F*** You Harry Reid of course we would save it for a second visit but I did photograph it just to give others a an insight to the fact that this is a semi ghost town. Some things within the town are booming while other things from a century ago are just in deplorable shape.

I spent half of the trip just driving in small trailer communities....some with giant gates saying no trespassing while other parts of town had dead ends or houses with mines in their backyards. Rumor has it the entire town is haunted so I went on a hunt to see how true this is. Other then a few stumbling locals I didn't see a single ghost within town. But ill admit their were a few places that glowed with energy so perhaps a second trip here delving deeper into the towns history might reveal a bit more.

Beyond downtown is allot of houses with old mining equipment laying around things from the towns early hay day. Beyond downtown are scattered houses....beyond that are the mountains which grace both sides of the town with various mines most inaccessible now.

So I learned allot just journeying around town heard the local casino in town has a 10 cent cup of coffee it was sounding good considering how chilly it was getting that night.

Searchlight Cemetery

Tammy and I spent a good hour offroading searching for this location. Strange how so many roads are unmarked in the town of Searchlight. We had been going in circles for awhile even at one point I was driving on the runway to the airport must had taken a back way in it happens. Tammy was all worried I was all laughing to myself because this isn't the first runway I had drove on. Back in Cedar Point Florida I drove on a runway once hehe.

So anyhow after driving down dead end roads...Harry Reid Ave. .dirt roads...and even soft washes we made one simple turn and there it was the wrought iron entrance to the cemetery. I never thought I would be happier at this point as I pulled the car up next to some grave stones.

When we got out the weather was different it was much cooler and breezy. Off in the distance I could see the lights of the runway from the airport. It sure was dark here though we got a nice view of the stars.

I expected the cemetery to be much more active paranormal wise but in reality the place was dead quiet. Tammy and I split up most of the time as their were about 3 to 4 roads that cut through the cemetery.

Although the cemetery wasn't very haunted it was strange as miners were buried with piles of ore....silver.....even mining tools laying around their grave site. While the Reid family had some of the less fancy type of tombstones compared to others who were very prominent within the towns history.

Their were at least a good 100 burials here and what we noticed is all the burials were either elderly people who lived past 80 years of age or infants. One grave had a toy homemade tin robot. It was apparent the cemetery had not been very well maintained. Desert brush was consuming most graves and most of the wrought iron surrounding plots was very rusty.

I do have to say this cemetery was by far one of the coolest I visited in southern NV compared to some of the greater ones I did back east. Their was a real creepy feeling here but we didn't see anything. Some graves were piles of rock while others were hand carved tombstones. I noticed allot of family plots didn't notice many women buried here at all.

The winds were whipping kind of hard to take EVPs when its like this so at this point the paranormal aspect of it was gone but the exploration was not. We found this one area the wrought iron fencing was ripped down so their were signs vandals already got to this place. I even found a chunk of silver guess what? I left it alone but to a vandal they would have taken it to me I have no interest in riches I just was glad to be in a cemetery under the night sky good stuff.

I found a wood epitaph....including a stone slab that had the various minerals found in the area similar to the one at the Cottonwood mine site earlier. While one family plot had a bunch of crosses made out of plastic. Their were at least 15 to 20 unmarked graves we came across as well. These ones always get to me everytime.

After searching for the first couple hours for grave sites it was nice to be in an actual cemetery. We closed up the investigation I changed into some warmer clothes and we were ready to conquer some mines next on the agenda.

Duplex Mine

This would turn out to be the long investigation of the night. I had no idea what we were in for or all that would be involved but I enjoyed this hike. The hike would involved two giant hills....which would at times overlook the town....and to add to it we had a nice bright moon coming up over the mountains to the west.

Tammy and I parked behind an abandoned house we found a small cross behind the home and an old mine road with an iron bar in front of it. This would lead us down an old mining road where we would spot some old railroad ties. Also a giant water tank on the side of the hill.

Prior to following the mine road we came across an old warehouse with pallets of material. We did walk around in and behind the warehouse. Their was a rather eerie feeling back here nothing out of the ordinary I just felt out of place. It seemed like almost they still mined in the area to a degree.

My legs felt pretty good so we took the road to the top of the hill. The Duplex mine sits within these two hills one larger then the other with a saddle between them. The mine actually overlooks the town its pretty unique considering how far most mines were from other towns.

The climb up the road was fairly steep and as I came to the top the moon was just glowing over the horizon. Its been awhile since we actually had a decent moon. I didn't even really need a flashlight which helps keep down on the locals chasing you.

I found an area with barbed wire around it their was an old mine chute and boarded up shaft. Their was also a very rusty desk more then likely remnants of the mine office on the hill. I found piles of wood and aluminum roofing. I also noticed quite a few electrical boxes....these giant wheels.....and rusted machinery. Near the chute was a furnace of some kind.

The chute itself was still in tact fairly good shape....with a giant shaft below it. In the shaft to the left of it was a very deplorable ladder and to the right of that was a set of rails...with a mine cart at the base of the shaft entrance still in tact and braked. I thought to myself how awesome it would be to climb the ladder down but the two issues were if the mine cart were to come loose it would topple on you and if it didn't the ladder would probably break causing you to be stuck in the mine.

I was hoping for a solid tunnel entrance but this mine rather went down then branched out so their was no way to explore the underworld to searchlight. I did however enjoy photographing all the pieces of equipment on the site. Tammy thought it was pretty cool to considering how rare it is to find an in tact mine cart still on its rails is like winning the Californian Lottery serious!

The rule is when exploring mines is you never go in an area you cant back track from. Near the main shaft was another shaft perhaps imploded its hard to say but it was an 8 foot pit. We found around 6 of these on both hill sides. I am not sure if they were imploded or just started and mining stopped due to the fact no minerals were found. Generally you keep digging until the quartz vein stops perhaps this was the case.

I enjoyed the nice view of the town from the top of the hill then took us into the saddle. As we climbed the taller hill we didn't find much of any signs of the mine till we arrived on top and began to climb on down. The hike down the giant hill was rather stressful. It was full of loose rock.....and Tammy fell a couple times including onto a cactus. Its just part of our explorations you live and you learn. If I was down south id be in swamps fighting alligators....if I was up north id be battling ice.

I have learned how to ski on rocky slopes so I did allot of switch back hiking and sliding all the way down. It seemed this hill had no bottom after a couple hundred feet I was wondering when does this end. We found a few old blank wood signs.....a possibly unmarked grave....and even a well.

When we got around half way down the hill we found a few plateaus good places to look for mines. I found an area with a quite a few TNT rusty boxes. Near it was a shaft a very steep one went down about 50 feet I could see the bottom. But that is all it had was a bottom it did not even appear to have a tunnel system. I thought about climbing down it afterall their were some rocks to grab onto the issue is how sturdy are they or does the mine take another turn in the shaft at the bottom. So I photographed it and we moved onto an area where their were many shallow pits or possible imploded shafts.

The Duplex mine really wasn't as large as some mines we visited but both hills appeared to be a victim of early mining in Searchlights development. Off in the distance as we started to head towards the expressway we could see a trailer at the bottom of the hill we avoided it. Like I said mines are in folks backyards.

As we followed the bigger hill around rather then down low and behold I seen the golden arches of McDonald's I felt rather saved. I am not sure why I wasn't in the mood for a big mac but I at least new we were not far from the road and off this treacherous hill. But if you see golden arched consider yourself saved.

Tammy and I hiked to this big open area we actually went around the entire series of hills where the Duplex Mine was erected. We found this flat area of land not much brush or anything. The area had a giant crater about 15 feet deep. It looked like an asteroid hit the area I am sure this wasn't the case it probably was strip mined. But still this crater was very perfectly around. I thought it was odd not something you see all the time. Tammy and I followed the road through the desert and ended up near some buildings.

I found on my hike back on the opposite side of the hill the Colton Memorial with above it a series of stones that spelled the word Colton 1897. We actually followed this alleyway down reminded me of being in the city. The alley didn't have rats or anything but it was pretty dark and an odd predicament considering we just got done hiking for a couple hours now we were in some alley way backpacking our way through like hey everybody PGS has arrived lol.

As we took the road back we came across a house with a vicious sounding dog barking...snarling....didn't see him but I had hoped it was on a leash or at least in a fenced in area. Little did I know later we would have an encounter with Kujos twin serious. After this investigation we headed on over to the Hobson House.

I think the Duplex mine was a great exploration we found allot of things just exploring the hills. The moon was out....and the skies were clear. We even found a mural on the back of a building of the old west I had fun with that one.

The Hobson House

Its been awhile since I did a big old house but this house was much different. It was completely gutted...no doors...no windows.....and a beautiful for sale sign on the front of it which is even more spooky thinking about it.

Tammy stayed behind me she probably didn't know that I had plans to enter this place but some of you know me by now abandoned houses are my favorite. As I entered the property I stepped on the porch which had holes and the wood was so weak I almost fell thru.

I couldn't believe that the house was for sale considering the houses frame and wood around it was very weak. Inside the living room was a set of fairly new mattresses at first I thought someone was sleeping on them. It was obvious sometime or another someone squatted here.

That living room and the bathroom nearby was an awful pink color. One of the bedrooms had red painted smeared almost like blood. The bathtub was pink while a white room with paint chipping had a bird freaking out. The bird kept flying back n forth so I photographed it getting inches from it. I got a good photo of the bird in flight.

Another room had a closet near it were the words Die Tysson. Their were no ceilings inside....even the doors had holes in them. Their was also a brooch laying on the floor not to far from the mattresses. I found a few rusty tin cans. Their wasn't much of a kitchen left everything had been gutted. Most of the wood was brittle.

Not sure why the place would be for sale id hope its for a buck serious! But you could tell the house was at least a century old perhaps one of the older remaining structures left within the town still standing. Near the home was a trailer on the hill lights were on someone was home. I didn't want to disrupt the peace so after our photo session we didn't stay around to play. We got our gear ready for our off roading portion of our trip out to some harder to get to mines in the area.

Good Hope Mine

Our off roading portion of the trip would take us to three mines unfortunately we were only able to get to one of them. Ill explain further in this report. Tammy and I entered this unmarked dirt road as a matter in fact all the roads had no signs period.

Our gas was low and as I went deeper into the Searchlight wilderness the fuel light had come on. Based on the mapping all we had to do was find dirt roads that led us towards a mountain range we could see shadowed below the moon.

The first mine we would visit would be the Good Hope mine. This actually was just the next hill across from the Duplex Mine we could have probably hiked to it. But we managed to find a dirt road that pulled right on up to the mine pretty nice actually.

I was surprised to have found this place its sort of hidden and the road we went down was over grown as brush scraped the car. I noticed the back roads in search light were somewhat rough but fairly well used. Their was only a few giant stones in the road....but the roads were narrow....and constantly went up and down like a roller coaster.

I knew we had found a mine area because as I looked out the window I seen concrete foundations.....rusted sheets of metal and debris scattered all around the road. I also noticed some railroad ties on the side of the hill and ruins to a mill.

I was very excited about this place perhaps because this was not just a mine but the site where minerals were processed an actual mill site. Tammy and I worked pretty hard to climb to the top of the mill. It was pretty quiet out here and dark. I could see all the stars out and we begin to climb the concrete foundations up the side of the hill. We found the site of a stone cabin or house foundation where the fireplace still stood pretty cool.

I climbed along some wood beams made it to the other side while Tammy crawled under all the debris saying she found rat droppings. Rats in the desert are pretty common around mines my buddy seen one bigger then a cat one night and well I see them but not to often.

It looked like a bomb hit the mill site their wasn't much left just the concrete....wood and sheet metal. I seen a few rusted cans and TNT boxes. It was pretty fun climbing around the mill ruins. When I reached the top I looked down at Tammy below. She went off exploring on her own just as I did. Their wasn't really much of a paranormal presence here.

The mine above the mill was collapsed with wood beams protruding out from it. When I stood on top of it I noticed to sets of concrete foundations which had circular imprints. This probably was the site of the water tanks or towers. Nearby I found part of a water tank all mangled probably from years of wind elements.

I also found a small tunnel....pipe line......and another foundation with a fireplace. This area had to be a mining camp. The railroad that once went here didn't last for a long time but it lasted long enough to play a part in the mining that took place here.

We did not stay to long but we noticed a washer out near the mill. We noticed allot of appliances out this way as if the locals came out here just to dump their non working washers. There was a road which would have led us to two other mines but the car would not be able to handle it so I figured I would take a better dirt road on in. This just led to the fun even more lol.

As we packed it up the temperature really dropped my hands were so cold it was time for a nice hot cup of coffee. We packed it up then away we went off roading. Its a real strange place because the roads back here are maze like and I had a map in my head about what the dirt roads looked like on google.

It was obvious that in the desert here were small communities often 10 to 20 trailers but on well used dirt roads while the dirt roads we took we used to stay away from the residences. We took this one dirt road for a few miles it was pretty cool until it crossed a giant pit that's when I had to make a 20 point turn where another road led us to some power house.

Past the powerhouse the road split a few different directions again I wanted to head towards the mountains where the mines were located. We took this road for a pretty long time gas was below empty and our luck was running out fast. I drove right up to these giant gates it said no trespassing...this place was a little foreboding.

It was surrounding by a giant fence....with trailers...trucks....cars....mining equipment.....parts.....bricks etc. I actually followed the fencing around with the car not even a road really just driving into the desert. We came up on a trailer with large trucks I quickly turned the car around got out of there.

The two mines we needed were either still in operation....or on private property....or they were owned by this community/company. Its really hard to say because according to maps the mines were within a 1 mile hike of Good Hope....while this fenced in area doesn't show up on any maps. I do think that its possible that this company still mines the mine we were looking for or we were completely off by a couple miles and ended up here.

Ill probably have to come out here during the day so I can hike around because if I am correct their is one hell of a mine back here allot of avid adventurers often explore. Being that some of the roads were washed out....more then likely we got turned around. I spent a good hour just driving down dirt roads in the darkness. On occasion we passed a trailer or two some appeared to be vacant but its hard to say.

I had fun off roading back here a few times we hit the bottom of the car while one time we took a wash that looked like a road and well its one of these things if you do not keep the car rolling you will get stuck. I had to abort the search for the other two mines based on the fact we seen mining equipment behind a fence....while one of the roads we probably needed to park on and hike in would be better for a day hike.

That is one thing about night hiking for mines they are so damn hard to seen until you are right up on them. Tammy and I at this point were on a race to get to a gas station. We had multiple dirt roads with only one or two ways out to the paved road. If we made one wrong turn......or ended up on another dead end dirt road this would be it we would be out of gas in some not so friendly territory.

We did make it out of here though and to a gas station considering we put on almost 20 miles on empty we really lucked out. Rule of thumb never go off roading into the desert without a full tank. Even though our trip would take us a few miles to the hills on a dirt road...we had to take multiple dirt roads just to get there because in the desert some roads become treacherous while other roads lead to trailers in the middle of the desert.

I am not greedy if our team stays in Vegas for a bit longer will return to Search Light to bring you guys more mines and historical sites. Here is the scary part of the investigation. I went to turn onto the road we hiked down where we heard that dog barking and growling. Well when we passed by that same house this very large 200lb all black dog started to chase the car. Of course you know me and I thought about grabbing the video camera. This dog was running so fast that when I started to speed up he wasn't letting down. He started to close the gab between him and me. My window was open my arm was hanging out I was chilling. I didn't expect Kujo to get ready to bite my arm off. But the goddamn dog was running showing me his teeth and I swear it my left nut this dogs right eye was watching me as he was running. Tammy was yelling at me to put the window up and good thing I did because the dog was getting ready to jump in the window. I could see him trying to catch up to my window and getting ready to leap. You have to understand that being a paranormal investigator is dangerous keep in mind that same dog we walked past an hour prior to this incident.

At the gas station we picked up some big cups of coffee. The lady who worked at Terribles was really nice probably local to the area. She said hi to me like 5 times while in the gas station. Where else can you get that type of customer service. But seriously we needed that cup of coffee it was getting very cold and Tammy was shivering most of the night. I didn't mind it to much just that my hands were like ice the entire night.

We decided to call it a night we were going to head on out to Cottonwood Cove....but I had in my head other plans like perhaps a stop at the Pittsburgh.....and Black Mountain. Those were just extras if we seen them or noticed them along the way. So with luck we passed the Pittsburgh not even sure how I noticed this location perhaps the giant water tower glimmering off the moon.

The Pittsburgh

When I pulled down the dirt road I passed a two trailers no vehicles.....and I was like so much for this one. But I noticed that the large trailer looked empty because my head lights went through one window to the other. It was apparent the property had been abandoned for some time. Their was allot of brush that had consumed the property along with debris, glass, rusted tin cans and mining equipment.

Their was this giant what you would call parking lot with tires.....tools....some large abandoned cars....a wood and aluminum garage. Behind all of this was a steep hill which had a mining road which followed the mountain around.

We had to tread carefully I never felt so watched in my life I told Tammy I feel ghost all around us. I am never wrong on something like this. If I tell you I know they are around us they probably are. We slowly walked past the trailers up to an old rusty water tank very narrow but tall. I never seen one like this at any mine site it was rather interesting.

All of sudden we heard howls and screams. Tammy stopped frozen in terror and I casually said to her oh no worries those are just coyotes. They were fairly a good distance away so I was not worried but with the blade I carry as I said before and Ill say it again I am not afraid to use it if it comes down to my life and those I need to protect with me.

The coyotes were the last of our worries really because a couple hundred feet away from where we stood near the water tower was a god awful cry or scream. It didn't sound like a mountain lion, coyote or any animal I ever heard before. I heard from Tammy rabbits can scream when getting attacked its possible that is what this one but I cannot explain it in words not even sure if I had the recorder going because the winds were really whipping at times which interferes in recording solid EVPs. But trust me it was very close and terrifying. I tried to ignore that it happened for the rest of the investigation figuring whatever it was will hopefully stay away and it did. But it sounded like something was trying to scare us away but that's just my opinion. The hills have eyes just remember this you go out in them expect random shit like this to occur.

I did not see any signs of the mine till I climbed about 15 feet up to the old mining road. Their near one of the first mine entrances I seen an old rusted giant gear. The mine went about 20 feet back and dead ended. I knew that this find would lead us to the main entrance if we explored further.

Up on the peak it was hard to make out was what appeared to be a structure perhaps a chute but later during the morning upon the sun coming up it was a house or perhaps the mines administration building. I did follow the mining road which led steep up the mountain. Tammy stayed further below exploring.

I told her I would look around so that we could plan out a second exploration of this area. Based on the fact I found these giant gears I knew that equipment like this was only used in very large mining operations. The maps revealed a giant entrance between the two peaks where the road went up to. So I have plans to revisit this area along with a few other mines in Searchlight if we decide to plan a second adventure here months from now or perhaps as early as next month.

The really strange thing about The Pittsburgh is the fact that this is a place nobody really knows about. Their are signs marking the area as private road.....just as the gates to the area have an anchor hanging from it and a boat propeller. But the area is scattered with a ton of debris and that is because at one time their was a mining operation which later was turned into a residential piece of property. Their was a for sale sign up so nobody was living here it appeared the area needed allot of cleaning up as I found bed springs and other oddities.

We did not stay here long it wasn't a comfortable place it reminded me of a place where a serial killer would do his work or outlaws would hide out. Their was a trailer with drapes I felt watched from....while another trailer was just empty no drapes at all. There was glass smashed, toilets, rusted tin cans, pipes, piles of wood, machinery, tnt boxes, tires and rusted tools.

It was already a long night of hiking....off roading....climbing and exploring so we did a basic walk through deciding that this would be an awesome second investigation. We spent sometime back at the main gates which had wiring to prevent cars from entering the parking lot.

Seeing abandoned cars is never a good sign but we did later pass by the place when the sun came up and it looks promising. I hope we can find a bigger mine I did find another mine entrance above the first mine I went into. But it was a tricky climb up a series of various rocks. This mountain seemed to be very rock and rigid so I have to assume that their probably are various entrances into the Pittsburgh and we will hopefully find them maybe during an evening trip.

This exploration reminded me off some of the old school stuff we use to do traversing into abandoned factories. I like it even more when you can find a place nobody has really been much to because often do not enter signs tend to scare folks away.

As a bonus on this trip I wasn't done yet I like to celebrate my explorations during or after the trip. We went up to Cottonwood Cove which is right on Lake Mojave. I went their to smoke pot why lie who the hell wouldn't want to light one up. When I arrived here it was still dark the general store was dark.....peoples residences were dark....house boats were adrift dark....and I found a nice bench near the water to toke one up. I hadn't had a night like this one in awhile we achieved so much. Not much paranormal experiences but allot of suspense...adventure constantly the whole night.....and we seen allot of locations.

The harbor was pretty cool not something you would expect to see out in the desert but this place had grass......docks....boats etc. Security watched me as I passed their ferry boat I was going to sit on board play captain but considering I was being watched probably not the best of ideas.

Eventually I took Tammy out on the furthest dock on the lake. We sat back enjoying some snacks and watched the sun rise up over the mountains. It was gorgeous watching as the moon started to fade and the sun grew brighter. Their were allot of gnats which kind of were annoying so we decided that eating here wasn't to much fun but watching the sunrise on the docks really is what exploring is all about. We saw some ravens many of them circling over our heads. I caught some nice photos of them over the lake.

We eventually got into the car started to head for home Tammy made us some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in the car before heading on out. Things were different now that the sun had came up. I seen the Pittsburgh from afar during the day surrounded by mountains and hills. I also seen the plane crash site got a day photo even. We passed by a place called Black Mountain. The mountain is literally black I been told its a volcano but it could just be a mountain made of iron ore.

I pulled up near the mountain thinking to myself the journey has just begin lol. Tammy stayed back she was really tired as she had worked earlier and was up for over a day. I had her rest and I went to check out the mountain. I didn't climb to the summit or anything like that but I did check out what appeared to be a cut that went into the side of the mountain. It looked like perhaps some mining had been done here I took photos its hard to explain. But it looked like a giant rectangle had been dug out 15 feet long by like 6 feet deep.

I heard that this mountain at one time was a volcano worst then MT. St. Helens if its true who knows but its definitely an ancient site and from its peak you can get views of AZ....Spirit Mountain and even the Colorado River. The rocks were jagged and most were black in color mixed in with dark brown. Its just this mountain all by itself in the middle of nowhere you have to love it!

I basically wanted to find a shiny black rock for my girl I never did find one but I did find some pretty cool other sorts of rocks. I filled my pockets with rocks...hands...had one under my arm pit. Then I put all the rocks on the hood of the car and told Tammy to pick a special rock or two. I was out there for a good half hour so I had really hoped to find her something that stood out. We had this one rock with crystal granules in it....while another rock with pores and all black.

Its a pretty interesting mountain full of rocks...no actual trails....towers around 2100 feet not very tall probably could climb it in an hour or so. But nonetheless it also was the site of a mine from what I heard where a couple men died. Almost all the mine sites men have died at thus making them good locations to investigate the paranormal at.

The ride home was chill we opened the skylite.....Tammy went to sleep...I played some metal....and went fast real fast lol. It was nice to get home but it was one of those trips I never wished ended. We had allot of fun the entire night. We had two people back out and sadly if you were one of them you missed out on a great adventure. What else can you do on a Saturday night think about it then be around others to have fun with and create an adventure that you can share with others.

I wouldn't mind returning to some of these places its amazing how many things you can find around these ghost towns and up in the mountains in Nevada. When I first came back to Vegas I didn't even realize I would find so many cool locations.

Unfortunately my group doesn't get the attention it deserves people often take us for granted not realizing how many investigations we have achieved....or how good we are at what we do. But this is not some TV show we deal with real situations wild animals....crazy folk......high heights.....rough elements....and most of all strange unexplainable incidents.

I always thought Searchlight was a dismal place and it holds quite allot of secrets. Very few people who pass through this town stopping at McDonalds....or the gas station ever come to realize the secrets in the hills that surround them. Even as I drove away from this location just looking at it during the day puts you in a state of awe. You think wow was I on that hill last night or just being grateful that someone didn't put some buckshot into your rear end. I had a good time got to sit in a smelter......slap a horses ass....and dress like the tin man we wont get into those tales though!

Now with that in mind our next trip will take place up in Utah where we are going to bring you even a more special place. Ill be heading up to a few ghost towns.....and one of the most gorgeous hiking areas in the country. I will be at my best and we hope you as readers show your vote of support towards The Paranormal & Ghost Society and the hard work that gets put into this. We allow all likes and walks of life to get involved with us all the way from our forums, adventures, radio show, parties, meets and other functions.
Peace,
Lord Rick
