It sure was great to be revisiting El Dorado Canyon after a long few months. It still is one of my favorite places to visit just outside the Las Vegas area. Everytime I visit here something new and exciting happens. We left a little earlier due to Easter plus the fact that we wanted to revisit a location that may have had other entrances.

Speaking of Easter weekend mine was just that wild Friday I did 8 hours of live radio on the air, then we had to pull this trip off, and of course Easter also lol. Ill tell you over the years I have had some strange Easter investigations. Like a few years ago I did a haunted hotel where doors were closing by themselves.

We spent most of the night offroading which was fine because I never been back in this region of El Dorado canyon. If possible we will try to visit one more time prior to me leaving the area. Their are just so many areas to hike around at and you never know what you might find.

I love making new discoveries here that we can add to our site it really gives you a broad perspective of the region in how many things there are to explore.

Our night would be lone and Karrie stopped at the store so we could pick up food/drinks. I figured that it helps to drink and eat considering the amount of hiking we do. I wouldn't say the investigation was as eerie as previous trips up here but we were more thorough in exploring the canyon. I am sure at night we missed allot of mines as opposed to going during the day but that is okay because its just nice to hike around here.

This may be my last trip but again ill try to make one last one the final one ill make will be a day trip so we can get some day photos and things. As always I try to visit with one of our members who resides in the canyon by the ghost town and mines.

Debby it was great seeing you I wish it was more often and I didn't get to see Boot he had broken his ankle recently. Otherwise I am sure he would have taken us for some serious offroading:) boot I even brought you a beer but didn't see you so maybe next time.

When I arrived at Deb's I met her daughter she tokes so we went out by the fire and smoked one. Deb please for me tell them once again thank you. I didn't want to sound rude just smoking and having to leave but we had allot on our plate. So thank them all again from me and next time I am out there ill smoke them out with some train wreck from Cali:) good stuff!

Anyhow after sitting near the fire we decided to hit our first key location which would be a place I call Skull Mine.

Skull Mine Investigation 2

We went past it then turned around and parked. I was telling Karrie to not get to close to the cliffs. I know she hates driving down these narrow curvy roads. I can generally hit roads like this at 80mph but again look at the years of off roading and all I have done. So its probably better Karrie took her time El Dorado has allot of treacherous roads if you do not pay close attention you could go right off a cliff.

Karrie and I suited up with our gear her flashlight she has is brighter then mine we both brought head lamps for this trip. We hiked through the brush I know snakes are out so I was very cautious walking. We climbed up the hill to the mine entrance.

This time a different bible was placed in front and right up on the iron bars. My mission was to find another entrance in this location unfortunately I still could not. Despite my photos show two other entrances when we hiked above the main entrance we could not find them.

I filmed with my night vision camera, took photos, and I told Karrie we would focus on EVP here mainly. I spent allot more time here happened to put my face into the bars pressing it firmly trying to listen. I heard movement in that mine something was in there but this is the thing you cannot get in it let alone out of it.

I just find it odd their is only one way in so we climbed up the left side according to the photos I have their is an entrance above the main one which looks like a skull two eyes and a mouth. Well we started to climb rocks and the steep grade. The moon was yellowish almost full arising from one of the mountains in the canyon I was so excited.

Karrie seen her truck and she was like we are very high up lol. I love being here because it only takes a few minutes to climb these mountains well some of them and the views are breathtaking. At night its black out here but every star is out. I looked up and I seen a major meteorite burning up just over my head over a ridge.

Karrie and I did not find the entrance. At times I would let her stay put while I went exploring certain rocks and steep edges. I felt Karrie did very well considering she was sick all week she still climbed with me and we really tried hard to work with this area. I found a few artifacts I do not touch them just photograph my finds.

We were very high up standing high over the main entrance and I had us cut over to see if the other eye was an entrance. Strangely my photo shows these entrances but apparently they are just shadows caused by the rocks surrounding the main entrance.

We worked our way back down a few cars passed by on the main road we kept our lights down. Although this area is allot safer to be then years ago. I knew if anything happened at least Deb or someone knew where we were at its hardcore wilderness around here so you do have to be cautious even hiking.

We arrived back at the main entrance then I had Karrie do EVP while I went for a very long hike in search of any other entrances. I followed this ridge for a few hundred feet found a few holes in rocks but after I did not find anything and came to a dead end. I hike back down into the desert and came right up behind Karrie.

Karrie and I had assessed that the entrance looked like they been blasted shut. I am telling you viewers first hand I feel something in that mine. I do not know why its barred off....I do not understand why there are no other entrances or rather why they sealed them. The wind that comes out of this mine is hotter then normal and it just is very very spooky when you look down the tunnel.

Karrie and I set off to leave we would be heading right into the canyon for some off roading. I really cannot add this as an investigation but ill tell you what happened.

We went down the road all the way which one way leads to the dry lake beds while the other way goes down to the lake/river where you can drive right into the canyon.

Karrie and I came to a split we took the left path. There were allot of people camping with fires. I was a little worried I just didn't want trouble. I go to locations because I enjoy the hiking and ghost. But anyhow we came to a dead end road which had a small inlet with water. A group of people were partying at a trailer and they were like keep going so now we felt uncomfortable and were like ummmm no lets just go lol.

We went back to the split in the road and followed this rugged dirt road which was very tight for many miles because it actually was on the back side of El Dorado. Karrie did just fine she has a truck so there was no problems now a car well with a car you would have to keep going non stop and hope you don't get stuck in a hole lol. I use to drive roads like that in my Subaru i felt safe in the truck because I know that as long as you have one your pretty safe in this region.

I know Karrie was worried a bit this is new to her but over the years I have done this so many times and so I was hoping we would see maybe a UFO...ghost crossing the road etc lets face it the road we were on turned rugged so I knew nobody had been on it in awhile.

Strangely I was happy we took this road I am sure we missed allot of mines up on the hill sides at night but you have to admit off roading in the middle of nowhere is fun. I kept my eyes open for strange things we seen a few rabbits perfect for Easter lol.

Karrie and I eventually came to civilization with lights from Nelson residents and I knew we were safe at this point. We found blocking one of the trails a giant water tank or something its hard to say but it was a giant cylinder.

I checked it out first alone and noticed the path behind the cylinder went way off between two mountains. I had Karrie park and we hiked on in the old fashioned way into the unknown. I give to you the El Dorado Canyon Boathouse .

El Dorado Canyon Boathouse

I seen this house a few times visiting here but from the main road. All we did was approach it from the bottom of the canyon. Things really got strange here because honestly when we approached the moon finally gave us allot of light thus making the house at first look like a trailer.

I took it very slowly as we approached from some brush....then I took us around and felt relief after I realized this was one of the locations marked on my list.

We slowly approached the house when Karrie heard two voices whispering. I had us stop in our tracks I clipped on my head lamp i wanted to have extra light. I was almost in the house when she heard this. I felt they were ghost but she felt like they were some teenage kids hiding.

I had to look at the facts for example who would hide here without building a fire or having some sort of light. I then thought to myself that the only area to hide would be behind the house there was a small area which housed a giant dented boat and a stone gap held up by wood beams. It looked like a mine till I crawled in the hole and examined it further.

We approached trying to talk to whoever was hiding nobody responded to either of us. We were up behind the house climbing rocks when I thought again what was a mine just turned out to be a small area in the rocks which was turned into some sort of storage.

The beams were very held and their was sheet metal covering the outside of it. I was inside a natural made cavern sort of. Their were many stone bottles, glass, and rusted tin cans. At this point we covered all hidden areas and did not find anybody so who was whispering in the dark?

We came back down to check out the house more it was in deplorable condition. The floors were falling in along with the ceiling. The house looked like it was designed for dwarfs very low ceilings. All the windows and doors were missing. On some sides the house had no walls at all. You will eventually see the photos.

We found another boat broken sitting next to the house. I ended up leaving Karrie alone to take EVP and further behind the house was a steep hill with a plateau which looked like a mine. I told Karrie ill go have a look well this is where things got a little unlucky for me.

When I was climbing the steep hill their was these cactus trees which have these cactuses that look like spike balls. Well I went to squeeze past one of the trees when two of them balls came off the plant and stabbed me right in the inside of my calf muscle. It stapled my jeans right to my leg. Last time we ran into these cactuses boot had a pair of shares to remove the needles.

When I climbed up to the flat area I found a rock formation no mine though. I sat down to pull the cactuses out of my leg. They were in so deep and my leg felt like it was throbbing since the needles were stuck me a few minutes.

I had to grab my jeans and pull away from my skin. The needles were in so deep it was not working they were not budging or coming loose. As I pulled harder I could hear my skin ripping. It almost put tears in my eyes just excruciating pain. I had almost 50 holes in my calf today its all black and blue. I did manage to pull the cactus out and by accident my thumb slipped and the needles in my sneaker became lodged in my thumb. I could not get it out so I had to break the cactus off in my thumb. I have needles right now in my thumb as we speak.

I climbed back down the pain subsided to a point where I no longer felt it as I was trying to focus on the house. This giant bird flew right out of the brush giving us both a scare guess he didn't like my flash lights. I wanted some good photos and I must say I captured a demonic face on camera. It wasn't very human looking whatever it is.

We started to hike back I seen a dirt road going between two mountains I felt we should find a way back here to at least look around. So we hurried back to the truck and once again started off-roading. Not much was back here the road was getting bad we turned around. If It was another night id probably just hiked back in here. I really need to get spotlights they generally do help out for areas like this.

We turned around on a pretty narrow road we could have gone further but with the no trespassing signs I knew there was a mine and probably one of the more secluded residents. I had gotten out though to look around real quick. Karrie and I got out of here and it felt good to be back on the main road.

I was telling Karrie how great it felt to have been able to cover so much of this area. I know their is allot more to see here but I have been all over El Dorado and there is always something new to see. You would be amazed how many Vegas residents do not even know about this canyon.

Our final place of the night would be right almost within the town of Nelson or rather on the edge of it. I like to call this place Nelson Hilltop Mines. Reason being is that they sit up on a mountain right as you turn into the semi ghost town of Nelson.

Nelson Hilltop Mine

Karrie and I parked across the street from the steep mountains which had a rugged path leading on up to a mine. Prior to my climb we found a trail that led us between a series of mountains which are found behind the town of Nelson. I was going to turn this place into another investigation however our hike revealed not much of anything just allot of hiking, giant rocks, heavy desert plant life and these odd colored rocks in a valley.

Karrie was very tired surprisingly I could have went for miles I was feeling myself again like the old days. I am very happy to see myself getting back into rhythm again. The trail we were on was in an open area in the desert. The path split one way to the left led us into a valley surrounded by steep mountains.....rock formations....and what appeared to be a woodsy area of the desert. The path to the right veered off behind Nelson which probably led to the backside of the Techatticup mine.

I went to our left on a trail that became rather rugged. The trail cut deep in a canyon we could have easily could have climbed to our left or right to hike along it. I felt in this small valley their would be mines but no matter what path I took they were dead ends that led to nothing but holes in giant rocks. The area is rather deceptive perhaps. As I was saying at night its a different ball game there are so many paths.....rock formations....mines...and mountains around here. You could spend days climbing and exploring.

Karrie and I on this trail kept hearing a whistling sort of sound. At first it sounded like a bird but then later more and more like a human. You have to understand that we were heading into a valley surrounded by steep mountains. The valley we were in was like a bowl full of rock formations....and desert fauna. It was only a half of mile across so not very big just very steep walls....dunes...and places where anything could hide.

Karrie heard movement within the valley I felt their were ghost here too almost thought I heard whispering myself here. I never found any mines here so perhaps will come back do a day hike very soon of the area maybe even come back this weekend just for a morning return trip.

On the path we came across a giant tree with allot of brush which we had to crouch down go under. To our right we followed this path which took us along a rock wall that dead ended in more brush so I had us turn around. This place probably would be a rock climbers dream so many steep cliffs.

We hiked back a little bit different of a ways more so along the other side of the valleys walls. I felt really watched here I think what is more eerie is when you know your trapped with nowhere else to go. I know something was in the valley with us but it was so packed with hidden jewels around us that anything could hide in the brush, crevices of rocks, and various trails which ran throughout this area.

We finally made it back to the car and I told Karrie I would cross the road climb the mountain and check out this one mine I seen during one of my day trips.

We ran a two way radio test and one of them is not working right you cannot receive reception. If anybody has any two way radios they can donate please let me know. I use the two ways to make my investigations safer and trust me they do save lives.

Karrie drove me almost out of the parking area then I had her park near the main road. What I would end up doing is hiking down the road for a few hundred feet then climb the steep hill to my left. It did not take me long to make it up the steep grade. I had a hard time keeping my footing allot of loose stones and it was steep. At times I would find a flat area I could stand at and I kept in touch with Karrie the entire time just leaving her messages on what was happening.

The moon was out but it would not light my path as it was on the backside of this mountain I was climbing. Behind me I could see the shadow structures of the town of Nelson. I eventually found piles of rocks and climbed them into a little plateau which had a mine entrance way up almost on top of the mountain.

I had a nice view even though it was dark I made 3 quarters up the mountain and things were going smooth for me nothing strange or out of the ordinary.

The mine I was in front had two entrances to get inside that connected it to the entrance. I had no idea how deep it went or what I would find. I didn't even know if I would get reception.

I then entered the mine by myself as it twist and turned. It really was not all that deep maybe a hundred feet but about half way into the tunnel I found a bucket full of soil and some very old used dynamite sticks scattered within the mine.

It looks like they never completed this place their were no shafts inside just a tunnel to nowhere. Of course I did some EVP recordings in the mine even took a break for a bit to smoke.

I then left the mine going back outside deciding to get more daring. I started to climb the steep rocks above the first entrance I found. Most mountains within the El Dorado canyon area have more then one entrance dug into them. Unfortunately I was not finding any other entrances so perhaps this was at one time the start of something never finished.

I climbed back down to the mine and worked my way along a ledge hoping to find any other mines in this hilltop when all of sudden a white ball of light grazed my head I was like WTF....because at first I said oh its my head lamp but the light was dancing all around me. I told Karrie in my two way radio that their is strange lights going on around me up on the mountain. I stood still this time and caught the light with my naked eye this time no glimpses and I knew it wasn't my light.

So then since I could not hear out of my two way I could not hear what Karrie had to say. So I told her if its not you shining lights on the mountain get out of there and pick me up down the road. I also told her if it is her just to stay put while I continue to investigate the mountain.

I heard Karrie start up her vehicle I could see the light of the truck hundreds of feet away far down below. I noticed now there was a green laser pointer. I was very fast in completely turning off my lights I knew that we had visitors and the lights were coming from Nelson. I am sure it was the locals trying to scare us off and I understand they probably thought we were vandals or trying to cause problems. However the work we do actually brings tourism and business to El Dorado however I was not going to take any chances.

I flew off the mountain Karrie pulled out onto the road and I told her keep going until I tell you to stop. I don't think she realized how far I made it down the road lol. But anyhow she seen my lights way up on the mountain and it took me seconds to get off of it. I was leaping rock to rock running down this steep mountain in the pitch black. I timed it perfectly running to the truck I jumped in and just as I got in the lights were shining all over the truck. The green laser light went right between us and out the windshield onto the road. I told Karrie to step on it as a precaution she gunned it and we got the hell out of there as a safety measure.

As much as id like to say it is locals who were doing it you never know so we try to avoid confrontation completely if possible. At first the way the lights were following the truck and the green laser light was hitting us it reminded me of something you see out of a movie where your abducted by aliens lol.

I never seen a great laser light before is all and whoever was shining it didn't have good precision or rather a very steady hand. Karrie and I got out of there very fast. She told me that one minute she seen me at the top of the mountain and the next I was getting in the truck. I timed everything perfect so I am glad that Karrie stayed back we work pretty good together.

When I arrived home I had to play the Easter Bunny here it was 4am and I am stuffing chocolate bunnies in baskets. I was not even sure how I would pull of Easter between cooking dinner....the lord Rick egg hunt....and everything else but I did it minus the rabbit ears this year lol.

In conclusion to my report I do believe that we experienced some ghost activity I wouldn't say the area was completely serene. There were a few things perhaps that happened that were out of the ordinary. I sure would love to visit the Techatticup and Savage mine before I leave Vegas although some of the less known mines appear to have more activity.

Its fairly feasible to say ill be returning again here for our last debut perhaps near my birthday or something. We had allot of fun. Karrie is starting to tally the investigations with us.....and we can now review some of our photos and evps from this trip.

It is always good to see Deb I think I met most of her family by now I usually just stop in to see her. I hope your leg gets better and I hope you get better to Boot. I know what its like to be laid up and wanting to just get out of the house to hike around. I hadn't gone up to ElDorado because of my vehicle situation and lack of investigators. But I love taking people up here to hike around lots of history, lots of ghost, and lots of beautiful scenic outdoors here.

I have also lots of catching up to do on our website. I am going to squeeze in one more trip to El Dorado this one will be a morning or day one. That will be one ill try to get a few others to go with us that way I can say my goodbyes to the area maybe do a picnic by the Colorado River just some ideas perhaps to get more people in our group involved.

Also once again Deb please thank those out by the fire who smoked me up especially your daughter I really value that with other people. I don't feel so alone when other toke to. Speaking of toking our meet up is in a week and I have a special guest attending it he is a marijuana advocate in Vegas trying to get it legalized and wants my help to considering I am running in 2012 for president or should I say trying to run.

The point is that I love my paranormal society in the fact that the faces we meet and come across are special. I met Deb through my site...then she introduced me to Boot...and it just goes to show you that its not all just about ghost its about also the wonderful people that you meet on your journeys.

Boot will come out some weekend soon have a picnic or something at the river....a few beers or something man. I consider those who live out there fairly lucky they get to live in part of all this history. There is just so much to the area to see I think my investigations will always be valued for many years of this region.
