Harris Hill Cemetery seems to be one of the older cemeteries in the Clarence NY Area. The cemetery is not very large and the pine trees are extremely overgrown. The headstones are all similar most are very thin, stand straight up or lean. Some of the headstones are broke in half and stacked against one another, some are stacked against other tombstones. The cemetery is fairly old I do not have dates to be exact however I can tell you this. The cemetery contains some of the earliest Amherst families before it was Clarence. There are at least 5 revolutionary war soldiers buried here even a colonel from 1797. There are at least 5 war of 1812 soldiers here. Also there is 2 soldiers buried here from the Spanish American war. Strange enough there was no civil war soldiers buried here. Although this cemetery is only a few acres large I feel that a lot of the spirits there are not happy with there headstones as said before most are in ruins due to aging, weather, and some vandalism. The nicest stone is the monument in the center of the cemetery.
