The Earlwood House may just be one of the most interesting haunted houses our organization visited as it has alot of strange twist to it and an extensive history which surrounds its property. One can say that a house holds many secrets and although on the outside it may look like an ordinary house what happens on the inside is another story.

I first off wanted to take the time to thank the Ghostchasers Of Pasco County FL for taking the time to join our team and Nomeus of Flurbex.com for passing the information on to us to venture into these houses. This was a fairly large scaled investigation between the equipment and a much larger team then then we have had since 2005. I find that in Florida it is very hard to find others who are not afraid of going out to such haunted houses and finding the secrets behind them.

The house sits right in the center of a small no name town a town that was had Indian villages...a town that had a sanitarium which the owner told me that she was told her house was the Doctors Office next to it. You can look out the window and see the post office which was once the site of a general store as well as the original post office. Also adjacent to that house back in the 70s was a faith healers office. Near that was part of a clinic which was part of the Sanitarium perhaps.

Another key element in the history to the area was that steam ships used to bring goods on over to the general store since the lake is very close to the house. Mail was brought over by carriers on horses and wagons down highway 46 from Sanford, FL. Around the turn of the century the owner told me that some settlers from New England settled in the area not sure but the area did start to become more organized around the 1870s with pioneers. Their are alot of English Pioneer names upon doing research so I do think she is pretty accurate with the history given to our group.

Now I am not to sure about the steam boats arriving to the area I do know however further research tells us that the first general store to the area was called the Marot Store. Lewis Marot came to the area with his brother Henry in 1879 with a covered wagon and a pair of mules. He would receive his supplies by an ox cart driven by Williams from Ft. Mason on the north side of Lake Eustis. Although the owner told me that another nearby Lake adjacent from Lake Ola called Lake Beuclaire had steam boats so its quite possible that they made it this far into Central FL.

Once a week Marot would drive his mules and wagon to the nearest store which was in Mellonville 25 miles away. Mellonville today is actually Sanford and if you search our site good enough you will see that I have done a few investigations in that town.  When he arrived in Mellonville he would pick up supplies and even mail back to the village. Marot was the first storekeeper and first post Master for the town of Tangerine.

Sadly Marot moved to the community of McDonald to the south and was killed by an Axe. The store was then operated up to 1970 by Charles Newell who had taken over it till then. It seems the entire area has stories of tragedy such as fires in major buildings like the sanitarium and hotel...the store owner being axed to death and even records being lost.

Another historical story to the area is about the Camphor Trees. Along the shore of Lake Ola was a homestead in 1874 called the Morton property. Later the Hudsons owned it and then it was bought in 1885 by the Sadlers who named the place Sloewood after the sloe tree as the blackthorn is known in England. Mrs Sadler whose maiden name was Slocum planted Camphor trees in the area around 1900. It led to the family home which was constructed out of longleaf pine lumber growing around this area. Eventually their son took over the property who served as a chairman for the Orange County Commission which was instrumental in bringing forth hard surfaced paved roads for this small community. So back then in the day you would have to pass this house to get to the Sloewood estate.

Another thing that stood out was that a settler named William H. Earl donated land for the very lovely Johnston Hall which at first was called Tangerine Hall then Tangerine Community Hall then Johnston Hall. Earl planted citrus groves around Lake Ola and even bought some. After the great freeze in the 1890s he owned seven of them on the east side all near this home and property. Because of the hall The Tangerine Improvement Society was formed in 1909 which would improve the town and hold meetings in the hall. Its fairly obvious how the towns name was formed.

The owner told me that the house was built in the early 1900s however the records were burnt in a fire therefore she said that the house could or has been rumored to have been built in the 1890s. Nonetheless it is an old house being that its over a century old. Old houses have alot of history...strange sounds...and even strange sites. So to be able to go in and bring our fans a great investigation such as this makes it all the more special. Alot of times people think hey PGS is not the greatest because we are not on Scifi or because we have a tight knit group but in reality we are there for one thing to bust the ghost before the ghost bust us!

As far as the Haunting's go within the home well I would like to tell you a little bit about what happens within the home itself.  There appears to be alot of walking up and down the stairwell at times. Sometimes you will hear walking upstairs yet nobody is there. The owner use to yell at the girls thinking they were dragging furniture around but instead they were sitting in their beds listening to music. So definitely the narrow stairwell going upstairs seems to be an origin point for activity.

Another thing is that multiple apparitions have been seen within the house but I do think one of them is more dominant then all the rest. The owner also told me the attic door will open by itself and there is banging in that area. I feel the entity in the house hides in the attic that is where Jim captured and EVP its an area I felt a strong presence in just watching me like hey what the hell are you doing here Lord Rick seriously lol.

Every year around November their will be blood stains on the stairwell wall anotherwards the walls bleed here this is for real. I seen the photos and will be posting them here for others to see as well. Just as sometimes at the back door or window is a weird growling like sound and bang. Sometimes a man with a trench coat is seen up on the backyard roof of the house just as a child is often heard in one of the rooms followed with a bright white light. The child can be heard skipping around then things will turn dark and there will be a shadow blob that scales the walls in the babies room. Often those shadow figures are seen in a single file line going into the closet.

The owner also says that she has seen orbs of all sizes including a giant one that chases her once. In addition to that objects come up missing and if you y ell or say please those things all of sudden will turn back up.  Just as the owners oldest daughter Dez and her ex were pushed like they wanted him to fall down the stairs. A portable fan was also thrown at her older daughter. Dez's current man told me that something grabbed his legs once night while he was visiting the house. I made sure I interviewed a few people associated with this house and it appears everybody has had some sort of experience.

She also told me about a ghost that likes to mimic things this is not uncommon I once experienced this myself when I visited a house up in Las Vegas. The owner also said one night something was on her bathroom floor after her girls and her were out they returned to this strange anomaly. But she said it caused the house to have electrical problems and strange noises were heard.

So these are just a few of the occurrences within the home. To you it might sound like something out of an Amityville Horror Movie but to The Paranormal & Ghost Society these are true accounts of the Paranormal.
