WOOHOO
finally the Aquarama has been conquered who's to say the 4th time is not a
charm?:) I swear i am doing the dance tonight Pete and i got to the ships
grounds around 9pm at the time the rain all day changed to snow and a
storm was coming in off the lake lots of waves wind ect. We noticed being
there early the auto lights were still off and it was dark as ever on the
grounds. We went back to see my grappling hook and rope and yes it was
broke the reason for this is the ship pulled very far away from the pier
and it rose a good 6-8 feet so climbing the rope was impossible and
reaching the hatch was impossible. We did find a way to get on and being
that i hate heights sometimes and so does Pete we were stuck climbing up
the side of the ship lol and i will leave it at that as far as that goes.
Pete got up there then i climbed up loaded the gear which alot of what i
brought did come of use. Upon getting into the ship we were in a large
open room sort of like a warehouse it may have been the room that stores
vehicles and it did seem to store alot of dressers and furniture as well.
When i stopped and looked around i thought wow i am on this baby nobody has
set foot on this ship in ages it probably has been well over 5 years since
anybody has. We at first were like which way should we go so we took the
grand main stairwell to an upper room very interesting indeed one area was
a restaurant another a lounge and even a gift store on the ship. We went
into all of them. We found a very interesting kitchen actually the ship
had at least 4-5 different kitchens and just like jims article much of the
pots, pans, including one room with 100s of plates cups silverware all
still remain. One room had the old telephones a safe money slots blue
prints ect and yes i did take a plate, placemat, baggage tags and keys
as souvenirs to show i was on it. The grand ball room was interesting a
piano on the stage a little back room and a place where people could eat
look out the window and enjoy someone playing the piano i got right up
there played my low notes in hopes to reawaken the dead so they could
party with me lol. 'We then put the cover on after a few photos. There is
another deck with a main lobby it had escalators, a bill board, couches
all around very cozy indeed. Including a auditorium where they probably
watched movies with a stage for perhaps comedians or a live jazz band?
There is 7 decks on this ship and several hidden rooms the engine room
door is definitely locked by a big pad lock, the rudder room was really
interesting in the back of the ship until i stepped on gooey oil spills
lol and got stuck to the floor. We all did find an area with living
quarters most floors had showers or a couple sets of bathrooms we did find
a room with empty weapon boxes and at first i thought they were wooden
coffins and another area with 100s of toilets well it seemed. Many of the
doors had that ship look to them oval sort of with the little glass window a
few restaurant doors swung open. There were a few doors i thought were
suspicious because they were locked yet had no locks on them so it made me
wonder what was in them maybe a closet or supply rooms who knows much of
the cleaning supplies, tools, just about everything is left behind or well
stacked and organized. There was an area near a stairwell and elevator
that seemed to have high activity very very major cold spot just in one
area everywhere else was warm around there so i felt someone was on that
stairwell you could just sense it. Upon going into one of the supply rooms
i heard a man moan and yeah i know the wind moans but not once did i hear
the wind do this which leads me to believe we actually had some ghostly
evp including when busy talking i tend to hear voices of females here and
there like they would talk and we would hear it coming from another
section of the ship its very hard to tell because one of the windows
started banging like crazy and it seemed to whenever we got close to it
and occasionally you would hear a echo or something in a distance. We did
reach the bottom of the ship under water and it sure sounds weird waves
hitting the side the storm outside was definitely intensifying rain and
snow high winds so this ship definitely was alive. We climbed down this
hatch big enough for a person my size another 20 lbs and i probably could
not climb down that led to a very large room and i mean large we climbed
down that a pretty high ladder even deeper down and made it to the bottom
of this room again more furniture ect. There was a break room i recall and
inside the ship an anchor machine you could look out of and see where we
parked. The ship during the day does not show all the windows on this
thing but many rooms have square windows or the round ones and most
windows have a table near them. We did make it outside and the deck did
not have snow on it but it was icy when the wind blew you could skate
quite creepy for being this high up. The life boats on this thing were
huge i did not notice many of them maybe 2 little ones and 4 large ones i
was tempted to climb in one lol but with my luck it would probably tip and
goodbye rick. The decks were very amazing though you had one deck with a ice-cream
bar, another one with spotlights where you could shine the
lights, another deck with sun chairs, a huge smoke stack with a ladder you
could climb up and those are just the back decks considering the
stairwells to all these outside decks were steep and icy it made quite a
slow adventure. We then walked back up 2 decks higher outside and came to
the captains quarters one the backside of that you got a medium deck an
the front of that you got a sub deck and of course the deck leading to the
stern of the ship. The red captains quarter building was 2 floors in
itself that was locked down hard we looked in it just many rooms and
closets. We actually did climb a ladder pretty high up outside the red
building on the ship and got into the control tower and there is a hidden
deck although small you can stand pretty much at the top of the ship there
was some generator on top of that and a chair perhaps where someone can
control the radio tower or the large spotlight. Climbing back down i
stepped on one of the long arms that extends out took a picture over
looking the water and there was a control panel i guess for the forward
and reverse for the ship. Upon that we worked our way back inside. There
also may i note was a captains wheel that controlled the rudder i did play
with that on one of the sundecks that was alot of fun. We then worked our
way back inside climbing a few decks down on the outside back into the
grand ball room with the piano, apparently another restaurant since there
was glass walls all over and Pete took alot of photos on the way back
stair wells, doors, long corridors, more kitchen areas, walk in freezers
ect ect i took 81 photos tonight and i believed Pete took over 80 himself
so when i get them developed in a month or 2 will have over 100 photos of
this place. The ship is much larger then it looks 250000 square feet is
quite large for a great lakes ship i'm sure we missed some rooms many twist
and turns surprisingly alot of the areas are open and there are many doors
and hatches when you are exploring inside high up and you look out the
window and think how did they drive a car or cargo from this height. The
lake was very choppy but very pretty because the sky was bright tonight so
i'm sure the photos came out great. We finally climbed back down to the
ground with a little effort of course i'm not sure if getting in is harder
or out lol. But i really got to say i hope they restore this ship i still
think its cursed the ship moved inward and we almost couldn't climb out lol
id hate to spend the night in that place. All in all though the inside is
in pretty good shape lots of antique equipment and there is no doubt when
it carried soldiers before it was a cargo and passenger ship that people hadn't
died on board i did find a drs journal the binding was label 1895 so
apparently this ship had drs and people of all kinds working aboard this Bayliner. Although the activity was mild i could sense a happiness from
the spirits i do honestly think they were scared nobody has been on there
for years all of sudden 2 guys are on there acting like kids in a candy
store lol. But its a pretty eerie ship to be on lots of creaks, noises,
planes flying low over it, you tend to hear things that don't add up at
times some wind some you be the judge voices giggles moans i would love to
go back there in the spring if they do not use it for scrap metal it is
not a easy task but to sit there on that state, to walk anywhere you
please in a way it is like your own ship or so it becomes when you are
free to do as you will and not have to worry about the outside world. The
investigation went well we almost didn't think we were going to get in but it
proves that persistence pays off even if it takes you 10 times. It is
unusual to watch cars going down route 5 while you stand on deck or to
look at your tiny vehicle way up on top. All in all we will have to wait
to see the pictures i will take donations if somebody wants to see them
even quicker because i just don't have it with the holidays coming up but
when i get the domain up and running i'm sure everybody will have a field
day going to the Aquarama's page. All in all we had fun actually more like
being amazed not many have had a whole ship to themselves and not many
have conquered this ship. There was a moment when Pete did see ectoplasm
and i would believe it i only felt activity in a few areas and the area he
seen something is pretty close to where i heard the moan. So the ship is
conquered Pete and i will be discussing some new places to check out
winter break or not i wont turn down a good haunt lol also plans are in
the works for another castle trip back including the 1800 year old
mansions on the site. If anybody has further questions about the ship they
can email me or chat there was just sooooo much to see and appreciate on
there.
Rick
PS
My flash light blacked out in the one room with all the old files it got
dimmer and dimmer then i had no light then i moved away and the light came
back on so definitely we had something draining the energy from the
lights.

Rick and I made it back safely. That is one wonderful ship. Parts
of it were stripped already but you could see how great it once was.
We both took a ton of pictures and neither one of us went swimming.
And yes, Rick did play the piano-I have Pics to prove it!
