Nevada State Orphans Asylum also known as Sunny Acres in Carson City was first established in 1873 to handle the overwhelming amount of homeless children. Here they were given food, warmth, shelter and provided with an education. In 1902 a fire decimated the grounds thus the state rebuilt the facility with Victorian dormitories to house the children. However since adoption and foster became more main stream the orphanage was dismantled thus cottages were built in its place. Today not much remains of the orphanage but its giant cotton wood trees and its old gymnasium. But at one time this orphanage was a place where kids played hopscotch and baseball. As many good times that occurred here dark times also surrounded the orphanage such as a century ago when the Spanish Flu and Yellow Fever hit hard. Does the energy of the past still reside on the grounds of this historic site?

Mormon Fort Station was home to Nevada's first non native settlement as it started off as a trading post which later transitioned to many Mormon emigrants relocating to the area to continue to build the historic town of Genoa we know of today. Today the museum holds many ancient artifacts, wagons and historical treasures which are associated with some of the very first pioneers who cam to the region to battle the west. Some of those early pioneers risked everything that including attacks from the Bannock Indians which is why eventually a fort was built to offer sanctuary to its settlements in case of a rail. Today this replica and part of the oldest structure in Nevada resides right on the old Californian Trail residing in the heart of downtown historic Genoa. With its scenic views, nature, historical remnants such as Indian Grinding Rocks, Legends, Notable historic figures and haunts this truly is in my opinion of the greatest historic sites to take in NW Nevada all the way from this being a part of Utah territory to the US Army claiming this town to become a part of the state of Nevada

The Fourth Ward Historic School was built after the Virginia City Great Fire of 1875 to help alleviate the boom of students which came during the height of the Comstock Lode. This 16 classroom Victorian structure could hold over 1000 students and was the first school of its kind west of the Mississippi to boast indoor plumbing and even state of the art heating. Known to be one of Nevada's greatest landmarks its last class was in 1936 when the building remained abandoned for nearly 50 years before it became a museum which house everything from life on the Comstock to Mark Twain artifacts. There is more then just historical enthusiast which wander its halls also included is a ghost who is called Suzette who taught classes here in 1908 and many other various paranormal oddities have been occurring here. Does the teachers and student alumni haunt this beautiful historic site or has an energy imprint been left here over eons of time when students laughed, played and studied here becoming later success stories of the wild west?

The Virginia City Hebrew was erected in the 1860's as a proud symbol of remembrance for the Jewish Community who braved the Comstock Lode. Today this isolated cemetery remains forgotten as vandals, cattle and a century of vegetation has put this historic site in disrepair.  This addition on our site serves as a memorial to all those lost but not forgotten. Please journey with us into the wild west along side wild mustangs climbing down into a canyon where once mining and milling were transpiring on the hour as each new interment came to these once beautiful grounds. Hold my hand let me take you to a place called Cedar Hill a place where history, mystery and beauty collide!

The Hobart Reservoir was created to help alleviate the water shortage in Virginia City as a state of the art pipeline was laid out that traversed for miles from the Sierras to the Virginia Range. High above Carson and Washoe Cities within the Toiyabe Forest resides the old Virginia Gold Hill Water Company, Franktown, Ghost Of The Sawmill and even the Red House which was a monitoring station for the water system. Journey with us as we take our adventure from the high desert up over the mountains into the lush Carson Wilderness's alpine forest as chase UFO's, Ghosts, Monsters and all things strange. Not only will this location is as scenic as it is strange but its an important part of wild western history as at one time it has a ghost town that resided and was the site of heavy lumbering to be used in the Comstock and timber for steam boilers.

Empire City Nevada & The Carson River Canyon were home to some of the first mills that processed the ore from Virginia Cities Comstock Lode. Later the mills that lined its canyon were well known for its lumbering industry perhaps the top in the state of Nevada. The ore could be transported within the canyon via V&T railroad to be processed while logs from the sierras could be floated up within the canyons river to be used in the construction of many of the mines and towns surrounding this region. At one time Empire City boasted saloon, stores, dance hall, mansions, mills, train station and so much more. Today very little remains with the exception of some remnants of its old milling days, cemetery and the Red House which is the last Victorian Structure of its day. We welcome you to journey with us as we explore mills, graves of pioneers, remnants of this majestic ghost town and the dearly departed which haunt this boom town that once thrived.

Hawe's Station was one of the first homes to be built on the Carson Trail later named the Overland Route. It serviced the Overland and Pony Express mail route but it also was a stage station which contained a corral, storage rooms, well and other rooms so that emigrants had a safe haven to rest on their perilous journey out west and over the sierras. Many of the stations were victims of Indian Raids while this one today is merely a series of crumbling ruins of what once was! It certainly is a very important historic site crumbling along the old Carson Trail this 1851 set of ruins remains forgotten along one of the loneliest roads in America!

Lake Lahontan's Williams Station also known as Honey Lake Smiths was the site of a massacre where five men were burned in a raid back when an Overland Stage Station once existed at. This led to the Paiute Indian War the only wars to transpire in NV where a battle was fought not to far from this very location. Over the years as one of the finest stations came to be after renovation notables like even Mark Twain visited here and over the years this has been the place of a string of deaths and murders. Today what once was part of an ancient sea is now a reservoir formed in 1911 where its dark history has been covered up and forgotten are reemerging once again and history is repeating itself as the murders continue. Only the dearly departed who roam its shores are still awaiting redemption for their lives which were cut short here. Is this knoll on what was once part of Honey Lake today cursed land? Journey with us as we try to uncover this stations dark past and are met with hostile hunters and muddy obstacles. Perhaps some things are meant to stay buried and be forgotten!

Thompson Smelter was the terminus for the Copper Belt Railroad and was one of the largest copper mills in the state of Nevada. Today this concrete temple is a reminder of what once was. The town nearly grew to 400 residents and eventually was abandoned after its mill shut down for good. Today copper ore, old railroad bed, basements, foundations and piles of brick can all be seen from afar much like the residents could see smoke billowing out of the smelters smokestack back in 1910. The town itself was named after William Boyce Thompson a philanthropist, investor and mining tycoon who was involved heavily with the Republican party. Today many of the symbols of his power and wealth are found throughout the country including the remnants of this once great bustling town!

Nordyke NV was a ranching community that resided along the historic Copper Belt Railroad. This town once boasted a flour, quartz and alfalfa mill. It also had its own post office and was the base operations of an agricultural center in Smith Valley. Today very little remains of this wonder that resides just below the Singatse Mountains. Overgrown by sage brush what remains are a few pieces of machinery, stone walls, historic home, old cafe and a few ranches that been in some families for many generations who once were part of this agricultural town. Tales of early pioneers who came to the area and made this place a home run deep yet not forgotten what little remains today has became part of Yerington nearby. Although its very small just on the other side of its mountains a giant metropolis once existed. Everything that was ever needed could be found here ranging from rich land for farming to its pristine mountains which contained priceless ore.

Ludwig Nevada aka Morningstar was a copper empire that developed in the 1860's eventually growing into a modern city of its day peaking out at around 1914 the same time two railroads came to the Mason and Smith Valley region. Surrounded by the Singatse & Pine Nut Mountain range this picturesque place boasted saloons, mills, mines, electricity, hotels, brothels, dance hall, businesses, school, church, sewage, stores and so much more. Eventually when the copper was depleted then the age of gypsum mining had begun. Despite the fires, windstorms and bizarre deaths the town managed to survive for 100 years. Today this site remains abandoned what once here is now gone erased from history but not its ghosts of the past or its enriched history. We welcome you to delve into one one of the greatest ghost towns in western Nevada take the journey LIVE THE DREAM!

The Ponderosa Saloon & Belcher Mine was once the flag ship for The Bank Of California which played a major role in the Comstock Lode. Although the mine was not profitable it did help spark growth in the area and was noted to pay its miners the highest in the world in the 1800's. Tales of ghosts from the miners who tragically died below the Ponderosa and legends of lost gold seem to loom around this historical building. Although the mining has long since been forgotten the owners found that tourism was much more profitable and so today one can enjoy a cold brew while taking a tour of an actual Comstock Mine. We dare you to take a stroll back in time as we uncover history, mystery and one of Virginia Cities prized treasures. Do the dearly departed miners from the mines below haunt this fine establishment?

The Reno Hebrew Cemetery is one of only two Jewish Cemeteries in northern Nevada. During the mid 1800's two acres was purchased from the Sander's Hillside Cemetery's owner to be used as a place where those leaving the Comstock Lode would have a permanent and final resting place in the Reno area. Over the years the cemetery as been a focal point for Hebrew families to have a place for their loved ones to be laid to rest since 1877. After the Reno Hebrew Benevolent Society folded for many years this graveyard was abandoned but not forgotten however burials were very minimal. Eventually local congregations in Reno took control of the graveyard where they offered long term members of their temples free plots. Today interments continue but the caretakers cottage is gone but the early notables who left a notable historical impression in the Reno area.

Robb Canyon home to Rainbow Ridge Park in ancient site often used to hunt deer that would graze the Truckee River and Chalk Creek. Later when the gold rush was at its peak Poeville was born during the 1800's thus this very canyon was used by ranchers to herd livestock to this ghost town in the Peavine Mountains. In the 1970's supposedly four transients were found mutilated and buried in shallow graves. Nobody knows of this urban legend is a spoof but over the years countless paranormal groups as well as Reno locals claim that the canyon is haunted by screams, apparitions, shadows, mist, noises, cold spots and other unexplained phenomena. This is a location where ancient history, legends and haunts collide. Today the canyon is surrounded by subdivisions and this suburban park. Journey with us as we separate myth from reality unmasking the truths in the high desert of northern Nevada!

Hudson Nevada was erected in 1911 as a freight and stage station which resided as a focal point for the Nevada Copper Belt Railroad. More then often it served the towns of Ludwig and a spur that ran all the way down to Bodie one of the greatest boom towns of the American west. Today Hudson remains abandoned however the rusty remnants, glass and skeletons of what was tell a story about a town that went from boom to bust. In the heart of Smith Valley this scenic historic site is home to new sub divisions including the Walker River Resort known for its soothing hot springs. Come join us as we uncover history and what is lost but not forgotten!

Valley Grove Cemetery was erected as the first pioneer graveyard to serve the early residents of Smith Valleys towns such as Ludwig, Hudson, Nordyke, Wilson Canyon, Wellington, Thompson Smelter, Yerington, Mason and Wasbuska in 1898. Although some times no longer exist this cemetery is a reminder of the lives that these pioneers endured while braving this remote frontier. When ranching increased in the region this brought the water table up thus flooding this over grown cemetery therefore most of the graves were exhumed then moved to its sister cemetery known as Hillcrest. We invite you to tour one of the greatest cemeteries most beautiful cemeteries found in NW Nevada.

Hillcrest Cemetery was the old Smith Valley Lodge No. 45 graveyard which belonged to the Independent Order Of Odd Fellows. When the water table was raised at Valley Grove Cemetery a new would be erected in its place then later called Hillcrest. Most of the interments were exhumed then moved to here after the flood. Today the cemetery remains very well maintained and is one of the only public burial grounds in Smith Valley which served Mason, Thompson Smelter, Wabuska, Ludwig, Hudson, Wilson Canyon, Wellington and Nordyke. In silence this cemetery resides in a vast expanse where only its birds watch silently above from its trees as eons of time pass by.

Cold Springs Station Nevada was in the early 1860s home to the Overland, Transcontinental and Pony Express Stations. Some of the finest stone ruins and enriched history making it one of Nevada's most relevant cultural sites. Each station tells a tale about survival, tragedy, life, death and bravery. As the Paiute Indian Wars, Giant Wolves and the harshness of this unforgiving wilderness had effected the lives of those who dared brave it. At one time thousands of pioneers took refuge at the Overland Station while some of them used the telegraph repeater station to send messages to loved one. While prior to that one of the greatest mail courier services although shortlived guarded their mochilas with their lives in order to assure the early emigrants of the wild west a means to communicate. Life in such stations was far from luxurious between Indian Raids and many months of lonliness in the heart of the great basin. The tenants who ran such stations hunted, ate, cooked, played cards and even drank to pass time. They never knew when their number was up. These stations had liveries, blacksmith shops, lofts, barns, corrals, living quarters, fireplaces and even storage for goods. Life was very confined within these volcanic stone walls!

Wonder City Nevada was established in 1906 due to a silver and gold boom along Horse Creek Wash which led the miners up to the doorstep of Wonder Peak. Eventually a mining district would be established and the monolithic Wonder Mining Companies 200 ton cyanide mill to be built. This town boasted saloons, sports hall, school, pool, ice plant, assay office, six horse stage station, freight station, drug store, cafes, restaurants, boarding houses, hotels and many residences. During the towns hey day the Wonder Mine yielded over 6 million in precious metals but it also was the site of some very terrible mining accidents particularly around the 1,300' level within the mountain. In isolation this town was so remote that the cost of living was extremely high as the railroad was to far or any other towns in the region. Situated in the Chalk and Alpine Clan Mountains a vast wilderness surrounds this ghost town which has been a victim of dismantling and tremors for many years. Not much remains today but its mill is truly a Wonder and what very little remains below it but a few stone ruins, piles of wood, rusted cans and fencing from its cemetery. We invite you to take the journey into a true American western city that rose and fell all within a short time period!

Not allot is known about Hercules Nevada accept that it was an adjacent sister community to Wonder City just miles away over the Wonder Mountains. Hercules was a silver mining camp that was isolated from the rest of the world and even had a post office. Sadly its boom would only last from around 1906 to 1908 before it was left to fend for itself against the elements. Hercules would have its fair share of setbacks for example its grandest structure the St. Francis Hotel burned to the ground. Many of the residents after its downfall decided to relocate to Wonder which at the time continued to boom. Today very little remains of the towns with the exception of a few miner cabins, rusty cans, glass and TNT canisters. The town once boasted a tram system and played a part in the booming Wondering Mining District. Although desolate many mysteries surround this gem just awaiting to be discovered. This ghost town is home on the range truly although not much remains we seek to unmask its beauty.

Unionville aka Dixie Nevada was established after a group of Native Americans led prospectors from Virginia City to a series of rich silver veins. Just a short time later in 1861 a hamlet rose up that contained saloons, post office, newspapers, stores, stamp mills, hotels, church, school, businesses, town cemetery, brewery, only covered bridge in the state of Nevada and residences. Many prominent citizens resided here including Mark Twain who tried a hand in mining as his cabin still stands today deep within the scenic Buena Vista Canyon. Other notables are the 3rd governor of Nevada and a Mexican immigrant who started with nothing then later became involved with politics in Humboldt County. Today Unionville is rather extensive however if the Humboldt Mountain Wilderness does get you the locals will in this lawless ghost town where the west is still wild!

Lovelock's Lone Mountain Cemetery was once the site of an ancient sea underwater. Today it is viewable from a location called Cave Of The Red Haired Giants which once canoed over this current burial ground. The land was set aside by the town of Lovelock's in 1881 after John Henry Lovelock's wife passed away. Every single interment found here tells a tale about a mining community that transitioned to one of northern Nevada's largest towns. Today the cemetery has taken on its name of a nearby geological feature which can be seen from anywhere within this basin. Rumor has it that the cemetery is haunted perhaps the miners of the past who once came to Lovelock in its later years seeking to strike it rich from other nearby ghost towns of today such as Seven Troughs, Star City, Rochester and even Unionville.

Lovelock Chinese Cemetery was established in the 1800's for the early Chinese emigrants who came to the town of Lovelock Nevada to work the gold mines and the railroad. The Chinese were never treated properly despite their years of hard work in helping develop the west. Within this great expanse in the great basin this overgrown forgotten cemetery has been recently unveiled. Although most of the plots are just mounds while other grave sites have been exhumed the people buried here are all that is left of Chinatown. Today the cemetery is under restoration all the most of the notables are unmarked therefore a vase has been placed at each gravesite. We invite you to tour this great cultural site that does not receive as much attention as it should. A relicc lost in time this site is a true example of how segregation led to such burial grounds being outside of city cemetery boundaries.

Sierra City California came to be shortly after the Gold Rush in 1850. Mining began along the Yuba River as eventually it was expanded to tunneling within the Sierra Buttes which is a series of large volcanic jagged crags that reside above the town. In 1853 the town was nearly decimated by an avalanche until 1858 new mining interest came to be and the town was built at a much lower elevation. Today life has settled down as this region went from being one of the top gold producers containing some of the largest gold nuggets ever discovered to a quaint little rustic semi ghost town that depends on its tourism. Many secrets surround the Sierra Buttes Lake basin ranging from rock throwing hairy monsters to ghost stories from the gold rush days.

The Kentucky Mill & Mine begin during the Gold Rush days when Sierra City was erected as a mining boom town. Like most mines this hard rock mine tunneled through the base of the Sierra Buttes. The mine first came to be then in 1863 a five-stamp mill was erected. Following 1888 the mill was upgraded to ten-stamps which could be heard from downtown Sierra City. Mining at the Kentucky was dangerous as most miners had gotten mercury poisoning from processing the ore while others lost there hearing from the pounding of the stamps. Beyond 1888 the mine and mill became abandoned where in 1910 the Loeffler family in Sierra City purchased it only to relocated the operation elsewhere where a 1500' tunnel was dug and remains today!

Snag Lake sits on the northern edge of the Tahoe National forest known for its tree stumps and logs hence how it had gotten its name. Some of the earliest pioneers of nearby Gold Lake sighted this small hidden lake and probably did not settle on its shores due to its ruggedness. Overshadowed by the Sierra Buttes this is only one of dozens of other lakes in the region making it a prime area for Squatching. Join us as we explore one of many hidden lakes of the Lakes Basin as we take on snow, heavy foliage and a pristine shoreline. This lake although hidden off the gold highway is a dismal place in the heart of the basin anything or anyone could be roaming the forest behind it. What secrets does its pristine cold waters and shoreline hold?

Sierraville California has been inhabited for over 2000 years by the Washoe and eventually Italian emigrants came through the area during the gold rush to establish this ranching town in the largest alpine valley in the continental United States. This town was of great importance as its lumber mills sprung up and local ranches provided wood, dairy, meat, hay and produce. This town was vital in providing Truckee, Mining Camps, the Comstock Lode of Virginia City, Sierra City, Central Pacific Railroad workers and other locals with many basic necessities. Although Sierraville did not see much mining since ancient times it was known for its healing hot springs and today farming continues on. Today Sierravile is as quaint as it was back in the day boasting some of the oldest most historic barns in the state of California this truly is a historic  gem!

Sagehen Meadows & The Stampede Reservoir resides in the heart of the Tahoe National Forest. This lush area where the Little Truckee River and Sagehen Creek flows through was home to the Martis and Washoe Indians for thousands of years who utilized the region for hunting and gathering. In the mid 1800's during the gold rush cattle ranchers, sheep herders and various lumber companies took advantage of the resources found here. Such lumber mills provided the Comstock Lode and Transconintental Railroad the wood that was necessary to construct these projects. Today the mills are abandoned and nature is beginning to reclaim the land once again. In the mid 1900's a reservoir was built forming a body of water with 25 miles of shoreline. This may have led to an influx of Bigfoot sightings within this hidden gem! Journey with on the thrill of the hunt as we track the elusive!

Austin Nevada was discovered accidentally when a Pony Express Rider gathering lumber stumbled upon a very rich piece of gold and silver ore. This sparked a Silver Rush which led to the growth of Clifton and Austin within Pony Canyon. Eventually Austin grew to over 10,000 residents which led to an influx of saloons, hotels, stores, restaurants banks, silver mines, four hundred plus residences and many businesses. This boom led to the abandonment of Clifton below the canyon as Austin would win the county seat making it the second largest city in Nevada by 1865. Eventually the railroad would arrive but after most of the mines were exhausted. Despite the fires, floods, epidemics and harsh elements today Austin is a living ghost town. Rumored to be haunted it is also the site of axe murders, lynching's, frontier justice, history, life, death, legends and lawlessness.

Austin Nevada Cemeteries were erected in 1863 to provide its residents a place for the dearly departed. This graveyard tells a tale one about the trials and tribulations of those who braved one of the most extreme frontiers on planet earth. Austin was a relevant Silver mining town and when rich ore was discovered on a hill above this burial ground it sparked a silver rush. This led to an influx of pioneers from every ethnic background, fraternal organizations such as the Masons, religion and race to settle here. Here you will find children who perished in a diphtheria epidemic all the way to miners who met there ultimate fates. Some would say this is one of the finest wild western burial grounds in the state with it boasting a Masonic, I.O.O.F, Catholic Calvary, Civilians and American Indian Cemetery. Today the beautiful ornamental wrought iron, angelic statues, wooden enclosures, artistic engravings are a testament to the women, men and children who conquered the west!

The Hess Ranch was built in the 1800's to provide produce, livestock, meat and poultry for the miners of Austin. This farm is a fine example of early agrictultural history in the Reese River Valley and may be one of the most historical ranches in Lander County or even possibly the Silver State. As you explore this ranch you find out that many of the homes and outbuildings were constructed during different time periods. Nearly all the materials used to contruct this estate were found within the Toiyabe and Shoshone Mountains which overshadow this historic site. We invite you to tour this haunted ranch a place where nobody can hear you scream and the wolves still run wild across the valley floor. This location tells a story about the early settlers who came to this fertile land then utilized it to sustain not only the pioneers in the region but themselves. By the time you are done exploring this historic ranch one must wonder why it was left in abandonment or what tragedies had befallen the walls of this fine Victorian estate. Now overun by rodents, elements of the wilderness seeping in and destructive humans the Hess Ranch is in peril!!

Kingston Nevada is an old boom town of 1864 and was erected after the mining camps built up on Bunker Hill were said to be in to steep of a terrain. The town reached its boom years in the 1860's, 1881 and 1906. It had hotels, post office, school, saloons, church and boasted many large mills. Some of the pioneers tried to grow crops it failed but eventually the Big Smoky Valley and gateway into the Toiyabe Mountains offered cattle ranching opportunities. Eventually the mines would be depleted mills closed down and many left to Austin or other camps. At one time the population dwindled to roughly 24 residents today some of them can be found at the local cemetery. We invite our viewers to journey with us in the mouth of Kings Canyon as we tour remnants of the town all within the scenic beauty of lost gems hidden in the Toiyabe Mountains. Nothing will compare to this lost paradise often overlooked in Nevada! Although not much remains today the Sterling Mill, General Store, Miles End Lodge and Scenery are to die for perhaps some did.

Toquima Cave is an ancient rock shelter that has pictographs possibly dating back to nearly 4000 years ago. It was inhabited by the western Shoshone Indians who also may have used the sacred Spencer Hotsprings below the Toquima Mountains. The Shoshone would use the nature around them to create new pigments which in turn they could depict there culture on its rocky wall.  The elders say if you listen quietly as you take a stroll through the Toiyabe Forest you may hear the spirits whispering to you nearing the mouth of the cave atop of Pete's Summit. This cultural site remains hidden high up on a journey where the desert meets the forest. This is truly an amazing spiritual and cultural adventure that will leave you breathless!

Please use the donate button to gift The Paranormal & Ghost Society when its at your convenience or if you prefer to gift us yearly you can do so using the subscribe button. As a Gold or Platinum member YOU WILL recieve a copy of AngelOfThyNight Radio on disc which contains hours of stand up comedy, bloopers, entertainment and various paranormal topics. The more seasons we perform the more episodes you will recieve on disc. Since we are a nonprofit group there is no monetary gain even if you donate a dollar a month we thank you for your support and loyalty. I want our viewers to know the hardwork that comes with our explorations which go all the way from dangerous expeditions to being broken down in the desert. We have been a reputable Paranormal Group for over ten years and our work has been legendary. What promise will future years hold for us?  Find out and help support our cause united as one not because we are asking but because we need your friendship and love for what we do within our society to contineously improve our explorations and services. We THANK each and everyone one of you for your membership with us!
