Day 2
Whitesbog

We made sure we had everything loaded into the truck. I was pretty disappointed in Adam he told me he was getting a spotlight, had a video camera etc etc and I did not see anything to back up his words. I been doing this a long time so when people tell me things I take their words to heart. If you tell my members you spent 400 dollars you better back it up. But at this point I felt like I was providing my whole team with everything which is fine but again honesty would have helped. I felt in my opinion both my investigators were not prepared for this trip Andrew had no thermal clothing for the harsh temperatures and Adam had no changes in clothes. Bringing only the clothes on your back and the shoes on  your feet is a no no and I think he found that out when he got blisters and had no other shoes to change into.

I think my members need to read into this and understand that preparation is very important especially when you have plans to camp in below freezing temperatures bear mace and a head lamp are not going to save you. Nor will a few band aids or a book. I do appreciate Adam buying that book on Pine Barren Ghost Towns but I found out that the book was useless it never told you once where anything it is it gave you a generalization within a 10 mile range of each place which is literally impossible but at this point I was upset cause Adam did not have the trail maps or any maps rather as he promised me he relied totally on a book something you never do period.  But when someone does not live up to what they say that is when investigators get hurt etc etc.

I have a history of people letting me down so just in case someone did not do their part I had enough equipment, supplies, food rations and maps to go around. I know right now Adam is going around the net libeling the organization but he had no problem with me filling up the gas tank most of the trip, giving him jerky, or him using my equipment. We did stop for breakfast at a gas station on the way down I had food from the night before again I was prepared.

Anyhow it was a nice trip down I seen the sign saying welcome to the pine barrens forest I was like a kid in a candy store. Of course the guys were more focused on me stopping at a gas station to get rolling papers none had them and finally they had me stop at a liquor store and they had them. Not sure why this kind of crap could not have been sorted out beforehand instead of when we were on our way to a ghost town.

Finally we arrived at the ghost town a really cute girl came up to me told me I had to move my truck cause a school bus was going to park in that area. She was really sweet I could tell its like damn why cant I meet girls like this here in FL seriously lol.

The town of Whitesbog is partially restored its one of these ghost towns you can actually picture the Jersey Devil jumping roof to roof. Their was a giant general store in town, a tall water tower, a few old houses and other structures.

Right away we hit a hiking trail which ran along a cranberry bog the first I ever seen. I really loved it and I took my share of photos of the bog. We walked over wood bridges and it was not a long hike. Day two was very harsh the wind chill was high and the winds were up to 40 MPH. Their was a way to cross the bog but I told the guys not to mess with it they tried to throw a rotted log across the water to cross which I knew would not work because A. Wood floats and B. You have to put it partially on land and partially in water to have some foundation for cross. They did it anyway's and the log fell across a few feet from the edge and that was a no go. I have a photo of this its kind of funny really seeing two guys trying to make a bridge across a two in half foot deep water channel. I was not going swimming my first day in the barrens don't know about them.

This was my first time in the Pine Barrens I could see the pine trees hitting eachother and swaying. Their was a creek in the woods. The ghost town had an eerie feeling to it but I loved it all the stories you heard about the Jersey Devil in the past fit such a town.

I took photos of many of the structures and we found a chimney in the woods and even a foundation. We also found an antique bottle I do not agree with removing artifacts from ghost towns but Adam once again broke protocol and took the bottle. Then again he would have known this if he actually been to our site and took an active interest in our organization.

After we found an old green house and other sites in the woods we walked over to an old cranberry warehouse which was falling apart and very dangerous. We did get close up for some photos we had to go through barbed wire at this point I did not care this structure was what made the town it is so we had to get in for a photo.

Afterwards it was very chilly so we got back into the truck and I started our first off roading. Off roading is something I have gotten very good at you start to realize that if you cannot off road you cannot get to the places you want to go especially when it comes to the Pine Barrens In Jersey.

I took a road which took me out into a bog I had water on both sides of a narrow dirt road one wrong move and the truck would roll so I had to stay very focused on hardly no sleep. We passed a beautiful lake and their were roads that looped around it and some went to nowhere.

We drove around the lake and I parked and we walked. We toked one I could only have a hit cause my infection was very anti cotton mouth so I told the guys to smoke. I got ahead and climbed over a narrow trail with water on both sides. I was trying to get to some wooden dock in the water. The water was rushing fast like rapids and their was an island which we could not to without getting wet so I turned back.

We just about wrapped up Whitesbog but we were able to see sort of how this ghost town operated and how secluded of an area it really was. Afterwards we headed off to Atsion home to the best wings in the Pine Barrens.
