Whistle
Stop Museum & Depot
It was a long ride home with Memorial Day Weekend, accidents, construction
zones I was not making good time. Hell I do not even have air conditioning
so sweat was rolling down me while being stuck in traffic. We did have
plans to investigate some caverns but missed the turn off so we were going
to try for the Monticello Complex which is this mansion, water tower,
series of buildings which I was told by a historian that it was a prison
which is now currently abandoned and was bought out by the state. Before
that I think it was a home to a former president but since we could not
get a tour the second best stop for a quick investigation would be the
Whistle Stop Museum which is a historical site in Forsyth Georgia.
We took some photos of some old train depot benches and a restored
caboose. I felt my ghost I was looking for perhaps was in that caboose not
so much the depot. But for now it was locked up so we were not able to get
in. Across the road was Tift College which at one time was a civil war
hospital and of course the men were brought right off the train from this
depot so there is energy here.
We stopped in and were greeted by a nice older lady who gave me a
tour. The train station had stained glass windows but a real calm type of
feeling here. Many of the artifacts from the Creek Indians were here like
arrow heads. We also seen many other pieces of history from the town
behind glass cabinets while some things were out in the open. The lady
told me she is use to kids touching things and she was pretty lonely we
were her second visitors of the day.
We enjoyed out tour although the depot only had a few rooms there was
articles from the 1800's like on a giant meteor which hit nearby the town
and articles on the KKK etc the whole area is a civil war historic town so
lots of places to visit. The depot had a few minor cold spots nothing odd.
We also seen Joe Chandler Harris's typewriter desk, an old dress, phone
booth and so much more.
I did not ask the lady about its haunting's I probably should but I was
tired, hungry and hot plus it was about time to go get me some churches
chicken yummm so we left and I made a donation to the museum. As you can
see guys I am not the only one who receives donations I do give them
too lol. We then walked outside took some photos of the old caboose and
walked on over to a old historical fire house where many pioneer items
were being stored in.
We took some photos of the old fire engines one of them was an old steam
engine made all out of iron. It was a nice place and if I had more time I
would love to check out more sites in this historical town. We ended up
getting out of their and had dinner in a picnic area did not get home till
about midnight. Then we only had a few hours to plan for Our PGS Mardi
Gras Birthday Party so it was a rough few days nonstop all the way.
In conclusion to the report we had a nice little get away in some aspects
it was nice to have a home to come back to since the Tsunami never came.
But its better to be safe then sorry. The one nice thing about our group
is we are diverse we do so many types of investigations and we visit so
many different places there just never is enough time. I could not do it
without James, Christi, or Ariel either because of their help I was able
to get so much more done.
The only downside to being gone for so many days is that I do not get news
articles out and believe me I got a lot of articles to get out there to
our members lol. I do want to thank the few who did wish me a Happy
Birthday and showed some appreciation for all the work I put into our
organization, investigations and the website.
As far as Alabama I do not know if we will return. Its such a beautifully
haunted state. Everything is very hilly, lots of small historic towns and
sites. But just like Florida it seems to be a troubled state. At one time
it was the stop plantation and slave state. It was also perhaps one of the
older states in the south and as many courteous people we ran into we also
ran into many who were insane. There is a lot of danger that goes into
traveling, investigations, and hell even driving these days.
I did not even know it was possible for us to do as much as we did and
still fit in a group party at the end of it all. But now things should
settle down and I can get back to site updates. We had a really nice time
not a lot of ghost photos from my film development but we will share in
the updates all the photos and history to these awesome places. You really
start to appreciate these places when you see all the work put into them.
As far as sends go I probably will not be doing any till tomorrow I
need sometime to recuperate I do hope everybody understands. Peace
Rick
