The United Office Building is 219 Feet high and 20 floors up. This is the tallest structure in the Niagara Falls region which from the top the Falls and Gorge are visible. The building was built in 1929 and has been shut down for the last 15 years. The building today is an architectural landmark and can be seen from miles away. The style of the building  is from the Art Deco Era and floors 17 to 20 get smaller the higher the floors. The total square feet in this building is 17,000 and the top floors were used to store elevator equipment. I have read that this building was used as a hotel and a office building. This building was very close to being demolished but thanks to the Chairman Gargano, Mayor Elia, Niagara President Wilton and George Pataki the interest to keep this landmark preserved and undergo restoration is now possible. By November 2003 they do hope to establish the lower floors for retail purposes and at least have 27 hotel rooms or apartments available. They are hoping to revitalize the Niagara Falls Business District. One thing that I found amazing here is the old Indian statues near the spinning doors. When you first walk in it actually has that old hotel type of look the stone the stone stairwells with the fancy metal railings, artistic ceilings, velvet red colored elevators with stripes, old desk and brass booth. So the place is very gorgeous and the condition it is now sort of makes you sad. We started to become interested in this place due to its age and history. As not many people have been inside in 15 years it was the perfect place to set up and investigate for awhile. Back in 1929 they did not have alot of machinery to build such large structures. Everything was done by hand brick by brick for 100s of feet so you have to assume that some workers fell to there death inside and outside when constructing this skyscraper. We decided to only make one visit to this place since we experienced its hauntings full force and since we want to respect the restoration process it is going through. We were very lucky to have the opportunity to investigate this place and for our organization it will always be a unforgettable experience.
