Thunder Rocks as some may know it is also called Witch's Walk which was discussed on the WNY 13 Most Scariest Places if this is not it its not to far away still in the same region. When I heard of a creature named high hat that was seen up here I wanted to see or come face to face with the meat eating beast. This is a mystical place not just an area that is a bunch of rocks. Although some rocks are the size of houses. But rather this is a place of power a sacred place where the Indian people once walked on and battles were fought. Often when you hear about this place you hear about the ghost lights seen around here (Witch's Lights). You also here other things such as a native American creature called High Hat or even animals that are said to walk on there hind legs and talk something very mythological in origin. I pictured in my head a Indian Shaman holding his arms out at the top of one of the stones as lightening would shake the grounds. This may have even been a sacrificial area at one time.

The area is very eerie you can feel it as you walk the power is amazing the adrenaline rushes through your system as you know this creature may be out there just watching you. Many people do not dare to spend the night here as many are scared away by the meat eating high hat or other beast that are said to lurk in the area. Perhaps the beast stays here because it is very easy to hide. There are so many rocks some 30 feet high. This place should be called the Isle of Rocks because there is so many of them you can walk between anything could jump out at you.

Also there is a rock called the Olmstead stone this is a stone that has a carving on it. We did find it but it was to high up to study the markings on it.  Many people visit this place yearly one of the rocks has spray paint on it. Perhaps we are the beast and the creature is there to protect these sacred stones. Or perhaps this area was used to open up some sort of vortex? We did find a giant rock with a plateau sticking out you have no idea how I wanted to climb up there stand on top with my sword but the snow and ice made it literally impossible. I also regret not telling the beast to come on out and show itself perhaps because I had my mind more on Sasquatch and was busy calling for him rather then working on other Cryptids.

Mason Winfield wrote a little bit about this place as well. He discussed a story a long time ago about how a railroad once cut through this Seneca nation and one night a conductor got off the train to check something and never got back on. He also discussed how a great battle was fought here once prehistoric or rather pre-Iroquoian so the Seneca's believed that it is haunted by many angry spirits. Witch's trail or walk rather was used as a path for Witch's to travel on perhaps shamans, Iroquois witches, Pagans or early settlers of the region. That is why they call it this most likely. So is this a supernatural area? Most likely it is anything can be hiding around the rocks or on the trail and if it is that ancient of native American lands then many stories still have yet to be told.

We learned a lot from this mystical area one it is very haunted and two that there may be a Bigfoot that lives back near these rocks. Not because we found tracks or solid evidence but rather it is a feeling you get a feeling you know that something is watching or when you hear something following you. We did smell a rotten smell not to far from these rocks thus calling for America's Great Ape proved to turn from a dream to reality. Do you dare to walk its dark road and face the beast?

Update:

I been informed that the Witches walk site is actually not Thunder Rocks. Although some say it is since I have talked to a few who said that the beast is also seen and heard here. Although Witches Walk is still near Thunder Rocks but rather off a state route. But their are many trails in the area some which lead down the mountain and Witches walk is rumored to be a very long trail.

Little Information On The Beast Called High Hat

High Hat is said to roam the Allegheny forest and is said to be a giant according to the 6 nations or rather Seneca Indians. The native american people have passed down stories about the beast which is said to eat human flesh and is more intimidating then all other legends told in the area. He sort of looks like Bigfoot except looks like a grotesque Abe Lincoln with large teeth, a tall hat and seems to be a creature who stays around swampy area. He has been seen in the Warren PA area and around Witches Walk which is not far from Thunder Rocks. Perhaps some of the more mysterious deaths in the woods are in relation to this beast.

Stories are told about how he would steal children and eat them. Treat them like prey and string them up. Perhaps this creature is misunderstood? Perhaps he might be a Sasquatch that was deformed or had more human characteristics but was broad in size. There has not been many sightings reported accept for people who sometimes hike may get a glimpse of him, feel watched or even see something following them around like they are prey.

The beast is said to be very white perhaps like white hair, gloves, tall hat, big teeth as said earlier and probably he is very fast. When the Kinzua dam was built the Indian ground there was cursed. Perhaps the curse was high hat himself. Since many dam workers would see him sitting from afar watching there every move.

In my opinion this creature does not seem threatening and if it eats then it bleeds and breaths just like us. Perhaps he is not so supernatural after all but maybe an unknown species or the last of its kind. Maybe high hat came from somewhere else? But this is a creature that hides and we know he still roams this territory since a few have mentioned to me seeing him. Perhaps this beast is ancient or maybe he is a protector of the forest. But one thing is certain if you cannot see him you can feel him just visit Thunder Rocks.
