The Pittsburgh

When I pulled down the dirt road I passed a two trailers no vehicles.....and I was like so much for this one. But I noticed that the large trailer looked empty because my head lights went through one window to the other. It was apparent the property had been abandoned for some time. Their was allot of brush that had consumed the property along with debris, glass, rusted tin cans and mining equipment.

Their was this giant what you would call parking lot with tires.....tools....some large abandoned cars....a wood and aluminum garage. Behind all of this was a steep hill which had a mining road which followed the mountain around.

We had to tread carefully I never felt so watched in my life I told Tammy I feel ghost all around us. I am never wrong on something like this. If I tell you I know they are around us they probably are. We slowly walked past the trailers up to an old rusty water tank very narrow but tall. I never seen one like this at any mine site it was rather interesting.

All of sudden we heard howls and screams. Tammy stopped frozen in terror and I casually said to her oh no worries those are just coyotes. They were fairly a good distance away so I was not worried but with the blade I carry as I said before and Ill say it again I am not afraid to use it if it comes down to my life and those I need to protect with me.

The coyotes were the last of our worries really because a couple hundred feet away from where we stood near the water tower was a god awful cry or scream. It didn't sound like a mountain lion, coyote or any animal I ever heard before. I heard from Tammy rabbits can scream when getting attacked its possible that is what this one but I cannot explain it in words not even sure if I had the recorder going because the winds were really whipping at times which interferes in recording solid EVPs. But trust me it was very close and terrifying. I tried to ignore that it happened for the rest of the investigation figuring whatever it was will hopefully stay away and it did. But it sounded like something was trying to scare us away but that's just my opinion. The hills have eyes just remember this you go out in them expect random shit like this to occur.

I did not see any signs of the mine till I climbed about 15 feet up to the old mining road. Their near one of the first mine entrances I seen an old rusted giant gear. The mine went about 20 feet back and dead ended. I knew that this find would lead us to the main entrance if we explored further.

Up on the peak it was hard to make out was what appeared to be a structure perhaps a chute but later during the morning upon the sun coming up it was a house or perhaps the mines administration building. I did follow the mining road which led steep up the mountain. Tammy stayed further below exploring.

I told her I would look around so that we could plan out a second exploration of this area. Based on the fact I found these giant gears I knew that equipment like this was only used in very large mining operations. The maps revealed a giant entrance between the two peaks where the road went up to. So I have plans to revisit this area along with a few other mines in Searchlight if we decide to plan a second adventure here months from now or perhaps as early as next month.

The really strange thing about The Pittsburgh is the fact that this is a place nobody really knows about. Their are signs marking the area as private road.....just as the gates to the area have an anchor hanging from it and a boat propeller. But the area is scattered with a ton of debris and that is because at one time their was a mining operation which later was turned into a residential piece of property. Their was a for sale sign up so nobody was living here it appeared the area needed allot of cleaning up as I found bed springs and other oddities.

We did not stay here long it wasn't a comfortable place it reminded me of a place where a serial killer would do his work or outlaws would hide out. Their was a trailer with drapes I felt watched from....while another trailer was just empty no drapes at all. There was glass smashed, toilets, rusted tin cans, pipes, piles of wood, machinery, tnt boxes, tires and rusted tools.

It was already a long night of hiking....off roading....climbing and exploring so we did a basic walk through deciding that this would be an awesome second investigation. We spent sometime back at the main gates which had wiring to prevent cars from entering the parking lot.

Seeing abandoned cars is never a good sign but we did later pass by the place when the sun came up and it looks promising. I hope we can find a bigger mine I did find another mine entrance above the first mine I went into. But it was a tricky climb up a series of various rocks. This mountain seemed to be very rock and rigid so I have to assume that their probably are various entrances into the Pittsburgh and we will hopefully find them maybe during an evening trip.

This exploration reminded me off some of the old school stuff we use to do traversing into abandoned factories. I like it even more when you can find a place nobody has really been much to because often do not enter signs tend to scare folks away.

As a bonus on this trip I wasn't done yet I like to celebrate my explorations during or after the trip. We went up to Cottonwood Cove which is right on Lake Mojave. I went their to smoke pot why lie who the hell wouldn't want to light one up. When I arrived here it was still dark the general store was dark.....peoples residences were dark....house boats were adrift dark....and I found a nice bench near the water to toke one up. I hadn't had a night like this one in awhile we achieved so much. Not much paranormal experiences but allot of suspense...adventure constantly the whole night.....and we seen allot of locations.

The harbor was pretty cool not something you would expect to see out in the desert but this place had grass......docks....boats etc. Security watched me as I passed their ferry boat I was going to sit on board play captain but considering I was being watched probably not the best of ideas.

Eventually I took Tammy out on the furthest dock on the lake. We sat back enjoying some snacks and watched the sun rise up over the mountains. It was gorgeous watching as the moon started to fade and the sun grew brighter. Their were allot of gnats which kind of were annoying so we decided that eating here wasn't to much fun but watching the sunrise on the docks really is what exploring is all about. We saw some ravens many of them circling over our heads. I caught some nice photos of them over the lake.

We eventually got into the car started to head for home Tammy made us some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in the car before heading on out. Things were different now that the sun had came up. I seen the Pittsburgh from afar during the day surrounded by mountains and hills. I also seen the plane crash site got a day photo even. We passed by a place called Black Mountain. The mountain is literally black I been told its a volcano but it could just be a mountain made of iron ore.

I pulled up near the mountain thinking to myself the journey has just begin lol. Tammy stayed back she was really tired as she had worked earlier and was up for over a day. I had her rest and I went to check out the mountain. I didn't climb to the summit or anything like that but I did check out what appeared to be a cut that went into the side of the mountain. It looked like perhaps some mining had been done here I took photos its hard to explain. But it looked like a giant rectangle had been dug out 15 feet long by like 6 feet deep.

I heard that this mountain at one time was a volcano worst then MT. St. Helens if its true who knows but its definitely an ancient site and from its peak you can get views of AZ....Spirit Mountain and even the Colorado River. The rocks were jagged and most were black in color mixed in with dark brown. Its just this mountain all by itself in the middle of nowhere you have to love it!

I basically wanted to find a shiny black rock for my girl I never did find one but I did find some pretty cool other sorts of rocks. I filled my pockets with rocks...hands...had one under my arm pit. Then I put all the rocks on the hood of the car and told Tammy to pick a special rock or two. I was out there for a good half hour so I had really hoped to find her something that stood out. We had this one rock with crystal granules in it....while another rock with pores and all black.

Its a pretty interesting mountain full of rocks...no actual trails....towers around 2100 feet not very tall probably could climb it in an hour or so. But nonetheless it also was the site of a mine from what I heard where a couple men died. Almost all the mine sites men have died at thus making them good locations to investigate the paranormal at.

The ride home was chill we opened the skylite.....Tammy went to sleep...I played some metal....and went fast real fast lol. It was nice to get home but it was one of those trips I never wished ended. We had allot of fun the entire night. We had two people back out and sadly if you were one of them you missed out on a great adventure. What else can you do on a Saturday night think about it then be around others to have fun with and create an adventure that you can share with others.

I wouldn't mind returning to some of these places its amazing how many things you can find around these ghost towns and up in the mountains in Nevada. When I first came back to Vegas I didn't even realize I would find so many cool locations.

Unfortunately my group doesn't get the attention it deserves people often take us for granted not realizing how many investigations we have achieved....or how good we are at what we do. But this is not some TV show we deal with real situations wild animals....crazy folk......high heights.....rough elements....and most of all strange unexplainable incidents.

I always thought Searchlight was a dismal place and it holds quite allot of secrets. Very few people who pass through this town stopping at McDonalds....or the gas station ever come to realize the secrets in the hills that surround them. Even as I drove away from this location just looking at it during the day puts you in a state of awe. You think wow was I on that hill last night or just being grateful that someone didn't put some buckshot into your rear end. I had a good time got to sit in a smelter......slap a horses ass....and dress like the tin man we wont get into those tales though!

Now with that in mind our next trip will take place up in Utah where we are going to bring you even a more special place. Ill be heading up to a few ghost towns.....and one of the most gorgeous hiking areas in the country. I will be at my best and we hope you as readers show your vote of support towards The Paranormal & Ghost Society and the hard work that gets put into this. We allow all likes and walks of life to get involved with us all the way from our forums, adventures, radio show, parties, meets and other functions.
Peace,
Lord Rick

Its very clear and evident that their is something sitting in the backseat of the abandoned car near the mine. I cannot say what it is could be a ghost but I can tell you that the face of it stands out more then anything.

-

This is the second apparition caught in the backseat of the vehicle and as you can also see they are two seperate photographs taken that revealed something. I will not assume anything but their is a possbility that their may be some bodies buried on site maybe of the miners or something more sinister. Your dealing with a very remote area that sits nestled up between some hills anything can be back here.
