Captain John Rich had a cabin and a large tract of land which was acquired to them. In 1883 a Palatka Catholic missionary named Rev. William J. Kenney began coming to DeLand. In 1884 a small chapel was established. The first mass held in this chapel was April 19, 1884. Many years later around 1906 Father Michael J. Curley built the rectory. Later this was moved and s a courtyard, school and ministry building were added on. Today this church is one of the oldest catholic parishes in DeLand and of course one of the largest rectories. 

The altar is donated in the name of the Knights Of Columbus in those who were deceased. The Clarion Bells were donated in the name of Father Patrick J. Malone. At the school there is a statue dedicated to Edward L. Wright M.D. who was a family man, served the search and was a Dr. Also near it is a gravestone with the name Buffie Graholski on it which sits under a tree. So there is many on sight places you can visit on the church property great for investigating. But perhaps what stands out is how serene this place is lots of birds, frogs, rabbits, grasshoppers and other apparent wildlife are abundant on the property.

I wanted to investigate this church because of its beauty. I like being able to take photos of beautiful places to share with my members. Of course there will always be a ghost of some kind no matter what church it is. But this Spanish style church truly is a masterpiece. The courtyard is often locked up unfortunately but from what we can see they have a little bunny petting zoo inside, gardens and statues. 

The church has an eerie feeling particularly on the woodsy side where at one time the first cabin and house was built in DeLand. There is alot of history near where the church sits and alot of ghost as well I know this because I have investigated in the last few months most of this area. Who the ghost are around this church we may never know but from our first visit here we were able to hear things, see a few supernatural occurrences and it really turned out to be one of the nicer investigations.
