St Peter & Paul Church was started in 1896 when a man by the name Rev Jan Bishop started commuting to Depew.  Many early settlers at the time were attending St Mary's but wanted a church in there own community instead of the town over which was Lancaster. St Mary's church numbers increased so high that is why the Bishop had taken some of his fellow men to Depew since the current church was a full house.   Back in the 1800s many polish immigrants flooded the region in hopes to get a job working on the NY Central & West Shore Lines. So basically the bishop organized the start of the parish by appointing Rev. Piotr Basinski he was the communities first pastor months later replaced by Rev. Kajetan Labuzinski who was responsible for the erecting of this red brick gothic looking church which stands today all the way from 1898 making it one of the oldest polish parishes in Depew. A parish school followed in time with the Felician Sisters arriving in 1907.

The longest reverend to serve the church was Rev. Tomasz Gwodz he served the parish for roughly 20 years. During that time he purchased more land expanded the church, built a parish hall and even the classrooms on the property. In 1962 Rev. Carl Drews took over the parish he had the church modernized with many new things added. Drews then had a new building built to house a new school, social center and convent for the parish. In 1983 the school combined with the Sacred Heart Of Bowmansville under the pastorate of Rev. Daniel Myszka.

Today the church stands proud. Are there ghost that roam around this gothic catholic church? A big yes! Perhaps this is why I enjoy investigating churches because of every church has a ghost. Maybe it is due to the pastors that spend out there days at them. Maybe it is because of all the funerals that take place, or perhaps it is the amount of energy that a centuries worth of church followers can bring. All the different souls, people, angels, stories, happiness, sorrow and events. I have seen this church for awhile and perhaps I was drawn to investigate it so before I left I had to walk around it and the entities seem very responsive here. Today there is almost 900 families that attend the parish.
