Smyrna Dunes Park is said to be about 73 pristine acres but I read else where its about 250 acres. It is at the northern tip of New Smyrna Beach on a peninsula and the southern tip of Ponce Inlet right across from the Ponce Deleon Lighthouse we investigated. Its also across from where I caught my hammer head shark YUMMY lol.

The area itself has a rich history all the way from Ponce Deleon Discovering the Dunes to Andrew Turnbull's Minorcan's colony and plantation. But it was also an area pirates set foot on and probably sat on its dunes with a scope watching other ships passing by. I believe somewhere out their is buried treasure hell the inlet itself is supposed to have some laying on the bottom.

The dunes today are very preserved some dunes are 15 feet high while others are just tiny rolling hills. The area has 5 eco systems which are the ocean, river, dunes, scrub, and saltwater marsh. There is a trail with a board walk that takes you about 2 miles around the dunes and threw them. There is also a watch tower you can climb and enjoy an Ariel view of them.

Not much else to say about the area. It is a little gloomy at times even more so you feel watched or as if something is in the scrub looking at you. I felt it was a good place to visit as it has tales of pirates, explorers, Indians and slaves.

At certain areas you can stop at a bench and picnic while there is an area which leads you to the beach which is very serene and in seclusion The lighthouse light spins off the distance at night giving you a feeling of being a lost traveler.
