Smithville

We arrived into the ghost town its public its free their were a lot of people jogging and tourist. I basically wanted to get photos of all the structures which included the factory ruins, lake, mansion, village houses, and farm. Most buildings were restored here.

We entered the old jail that was cool they did not restore it but we learned this town was all about the law it had two jails maybe even three. The mansion had high walls and spiked wrought iron fencing. Eagles graced the entrance and this mansion was HUGE probably over 20 room easily as it had its own tower, extensions going off in different directions and a few stories.

Smithville was pleasant only a few houses were boarded up but the barn was the most awesome one I had ever seen in any ghost town. I think the guys enjoyed this one it was a walk back in time. We entered the mansion grounds man I waned a hot dog bad they had some private event going on and I was hungry lol. I am from NY ball park hot dogs and juicy burgers is the way to go.

The mansion had lion statues and vines growing over a walkway this is a place you see in the movies its just that well kept and restored. We did not spend a lot of time around other folks I took us straight past the village and down into the ravine which goes along a steep ravine filled with water.

On our way down the trail we came across a very very old tree it was dead and it was the largest tree I seen in New Jersey I may have to research it but it would take over 6 men to wrap their arms around it possibly more. I took photos as well just a real spooky dead tree.

We hiked the entire trail I felt pretty good for being out in the elements a few days and was excited about the investigations later that night. We headed back to the car it was time to finish one last place in the Pine Barrens and head back up north to Adams place.  Last stop Double Trouble....sounds good to me sounds like a playful blonde along with a sassy brunette until I realized I was dreaming and its actually a ghost town haha:)
