Arriving at the base of the Sierra Canyon does not put the peak or its depth into perspective. Little did we know that what laid ahead of our expedition which would include a hike through the canyon involving over 9 miles and that does not include the journey to the peak or out of here. In this video I pass through Genoa Cemetery and Nevada's first settlement!	The first couple of miles of our hike you can clearly see the transition from high desert to a sub-alpine forest which eventually turns completely into an alpine forest at higher elevations. During the beginning of the expedition we seen lizards which dominant the lower canyon floors which eventually transition to butterflies and other forms of nature based on how deep you traverse into the canyon.

Nature can be harsh in this wilderness such as scorpions, rattle snakes and even rushing water that can wash out the trail such as in this clip. The ravines along the trail are steep one wrong move or misstep can mean death. Their is no greater scorn then nature herself no matter where it is you are hiking at even if Bigfoot does not get to you!	This is not a log you want to rest on or break at. More then often you might see on an ant hill a few thousands but this giant tree is home to millions of ants. I know its not paranormal but it is an amazing site to see so many ants working in unison. To an average hiker you may not notice the ants consuming this log to someone as meticulous as me well that is another story!

The Sierra Canyon Trail gives you some of the best views of the Carson Valley below particularly Genoa. The higher you traverse the better the view and more encompassing it becomes. After a few miles the deeper you go and higher within the canyon reveals views such as this.	Very few hikers ever make it this deep in the canyon most people if they want to get to Genoa Peak offroad there or take the Tahoe Rim Trail. We wanted to make sure we hiked deep enough in the canyon where we could look for evidential discoveries. Jarrod seen a large black furry creature on two legs standing behind a tree near the ravine watching us. I didn't think much of it but I still interviewed him because I did find in the area a large track and heard some noises I couldn't explain. Perhaps instead of looking for this creature it was tracking us down!

Our journey would take over 12 hours to complete which gives you an idea of how hard our group works on these expeditions. This is about three hours into it however the heat, switch backs and higher elevations are having a toll on us. We have such a long journey to go just to make it to the top of the range so we can enjoy stellar views such as this one in this clip.	During our journey this would be about the halfway point which is full of rocky cliffs, dens, boulders and overlooks. This overlook really puts the Sierra Canyon into perspective and the Carson Valley below it. I have to be very cautious as their are cliffs on two sides of these overlooks one wrong stumble could be my last. Jarrod filmed this video of me standing on the cliff of course the ratings may have gone really up if I fell off but then I wouldn't be sitting here posting the clip now would I? Jarrod takes some pretty good photos this is one of his first videos sure it needs work but does put myself in perspective of how small I am compared to the entire canyon.	We are nearing about 8k if not more when this filmed was clipped. Below the canyon is Genoa it is Nevada's first settlements. Genoa started off as a trading post until a Mormon Fort was built along with other historic structures. Genoa is known for its lush pastures and fields. Today as it was then it serves as a commercial and farming community. Back in the day emigrants came over on the Overland trail built farms and ranches here. It looks allot different from this height then physically driving down Main Street.

When you make your way up higher into the canyon just over the ridge are stellar views of Jobs Peak. Although Jobs is higher then Genoa's peak the views of it from afar are stellar. Jobs Peak and its canyons are similar where we filmed this clip at. The Jobs Peak area is a Sasquatch hot zone and in the future we will stand on its peak looking from afar at the mighty Genoa Peak.	For the last couple miles of trying to get ourselves out of the Sierra Canyon things really became strange. We heard something following us breaking branches for at least two miles. I also heard grunts and other sounds similar to that of what a primate makes. I had did a couple of calls earlier and it seemed we had gotten somethings attention. The problem is where is it and why does it continue to stalk us on our hike?

To reach the top of the Sierra Canyon from Genoa is a 9.3 mile hike we are nearly there not quite but the trail cuts right through the canyon overlooking it to its entirety. It just puts how large this canyon is into perspective. We only have a few hundred feet more along the trail where it will cross over the Carson Range where the Tahoe Rim can be found.	The final ascensions would involve rock climbing to the top where the path ends at the crown of Genoa Peak. We were tired as not only did we have to hike out of the canyon but along rim all the way to the peaks crown. Were so close yet so far all we have to do is muster enough energy for our Final Ascension.

This is what it feels like to be on top of the world with stellar views 360 degrees the expedition was worthwhile. We had plans to have dinner at the peak little did we know that we would be graced with such great views of the Carson Valley, Desolation Wilderness, Lake Tahoe, Genoa and even Jobs Peak.	Were standing at about 9,400' this is the highest point between Spooner Summit and the Kingsbury Grade. Amazingly from atop of the peak the sites that can be seen are small towns and many scenic locations. Some of them are Carson City the state capital, Gardnerville, Minden, Genoa, Sierras, Lake Tahoe, Desolation Wilderness, Indian Hills, Jacks Valley and Jobs Peak. One of the most prestigious videos in the Carson Valley area is atop of Genoe Summit and we bring it to you here which was well earned. Now the final thought was how would we get back into civilization before nightfall?
