The Shingle Creek Cemetery is one of the oldest in the area and its very important in the fact that it contains many pioneers. Some say its a civil war cemetery and it is true there is ALOT of Confederate graves here however I only found little information all but one soldier doing some genealogy history.  That soldiers name was Stewart Tyner who was with the 8th Florida Infantry. I also found out he was 5'11, gray eyes, black hair, and had light skin.

The cemetery sits behind an old church not to far from the Methodist Church Camp in the area.  This area a dormitory and dining hall were erected by the Lakeland Free Methodist District. The visitors stayed in tents and members were encouraged to build cabins in the area till a motel was built. The camp was relocated in the 1960s.

I do believe they relocated to the current church which stands here today if I am wrong it would still be apparent that many members attended this churches services when the move occurred. Many of the Methodist pioneers of the area are buried here people who ran cattle camps and lived off the groves.

There is in the back of the cemetery a giant dead tree and honestly its pretty damn eerie. This is one of these cemeteries you see in the movies wrought iron surrounding a few stones, dead tree off in the distance, high grass, old wood church off to the side etc. The photos will speak for itself of this old 1800s Cemetery!
