Pyramid Mountains & Jersey Stonehenge

We had some problems finding this place and honestly if the directions were read to me exactly how they were written it would have saved us an hour off the clock. But people read what they want to but Adam the great explorer he is told me before I came to Jersey he knows where everything is hmmm.

Well we found it after I stopped for a gas station break cause Andrew was complaining how he has to pee and how it pissed him off that I was hitting the bumps on the road. Nothing like grown men acting like they are on their periods its not hard to urinate in a bottle if you have to go that bad but being we were in a nice residential neighborhood I was not going to stop in front of someone's house and risk having the sheriffs stop us being I drove past three already.

When we arrived at the pyramid mountains their were a few trails some went a few miles no big deal but I cared about two things here the tripod rock and Stonehenge. We never found Stonehenge but we did find a speakeasy in the woods and an old stone foundation.

We made our way up the main trail going over a creek bridge and a switch back trail as we made our ascent up the mountain. Their were some beautiful rock formations to our right as we made our way around them. The area had patches of snow in some areas and the ice on the trail nearly killed us. I did not put on my boots for this investigation so I constantly was sliding all over the place grabbing a hold of trees or whatever I could.

We hiked about a mile on in and Andrew climbed a cliff I was not happy with this any climber knows you never climb an icy cliff without the proper gear or equipment. I thought great if he falls their goes the entire trip I was very happy he made it to the top but in my opinion it was just plain stupid on his part. Adam and I took the trail it was very steep almost steep enough where you had to be on your hands and knees or grab trees along the way up.

We met Andrew on top and eventually reached the mountain peak. I got some great shots from the top of the mountain the hike was beautiful and we passed another hiker on the way to Tripod rocks. The trail to tripod rock was very hard cause it intersected with other trails and at times was not marked so we had to constantly refer to our map and close in on it. We did find it and it was amazing just three little rocks holding up a giant boulder. Adam of course spent most of his time at tripod rock talking to his GF. The drama begins because she did not want him camping with the group in the Pine Barrens and he is going on about going out the next day buying a sleeping bag etc etc. I was pretty disappointed to hear all of this going on when I am trying to conduct an investigation.

While the guys got ahead of me back down the trail I found a giant print possibly a giant cat print but the thing was huge and it deserved a photo. It almost could have matched the size of a lion print so more then likely its obvious big cats roam the area.

At this point it took us over an hour and half to reach tripod rocks and the guys were arguing with me to take the same trail back to the truck. I wanted to take another way I felt that we needed to see more of the area but since it was getting dark I also felt with the ice hazards on the trail the safest way would be to cut straight down to the road on the side of the mountain. I could see the road below it was a straight shot down rather then a 3 mile hike on a rough icy trail.

The guys told me they would not do it and I told them I would wager something that I could make it to the truck before them then they said fine will do it your way. We made it to the road in 20 mins of course being as sick as I was I lagged behind most of the hike. My infection was causing dizziness and other problems for me I had to stay focused. I made it down just took me longer cause I had sneakers on not my boots.

When we crossed the road we seen a lake and ended up finding a speak easy in the woods. We seen an old wire mattress frame, a stone foundation and a chimney. The guys took off down the road without me and while I was alone I heard something very terrifying in the woods it sounded like a giant walking towards me it sounded bipedal and was snapping branches like twigs. It was big reminded me of a Sasquatch walking and it probably was. I did not see a thing but I heard it within 200 feet from me and it was still barely light out.

I took a few photos lots of energy here and we hiked up the road. The guys took off without me and I got dizzy lost my camera in the woods. We had to turn back and find it Adam found it luckily I guess it fell out of my jacket when some thorn brush caught the strap.

I hiked down the road and a cop stopped me told me to get my truck out of the hiking area since he had to lock up. I explained what happened and how I was stuck on the trail and lost the camera so he did not ticket me so all was well. He was waiting for me back at the trail head I left with the truck and picked up the guys down the road.

We drove off to this area seemed like a doctors office of some kind and parked the truck. We would be searching for the Jersey Stonehenge which unfortunately was not the point of interest we came across. We hiked in the middle of the woods and up these very icy stone steps they call it the 100 steps. Their is about 100 stones leading to the top of the peak then it levels off and off to the right is this foundation made of stone not sure what it was for maybe an old pioneer house. We noticed someone playing around the truck while we were at the peak the lights were blinking on the truck not sure if someone was snooping.

On the way to the foundation we heard a lot of heavy movement off to our left in the woods we also seen a rabbit. I felt the movement was relevant to something I heard early on this side of the mountain. It did sound a lot like what I heard earlier on the mountain what was it I do not know.

We never found the Stonehenge some say its their how we missed it who knows it was dark so we could have missed it but its the entire area that is old and historic so it really did not make a difference. To hike here was very interesting. I heard the place is full of mystery and after leaving here I could see why.

The next place we visited was Hibernia St. Patrick's Cemetery.

Although the track below may not be paranormal in nature its size was considerably large. This paw print was almost twice the size of my fist or equivalent to almost the size of a lion. I thought it was odd perhaps an overgrown animal but its a solid impression therefore whatever it was had to be over a 100 lbs easily. The pyramid mountain historical area is full of wildlife.

Our next place would be Lambert Tower at Mt. Garrett.
