Ormond Gethsemane Cemetery also known as Greenwood Cemetery is perhaps the most Vandalized overgrown cemetery in the Ormond Beach area. Jasmine our investigator told me about it as she use to pass it many times while taking her daughter to daycare. This old cemetery sits right in the middle of a residential neighborhood. It actually is odd to see such a cemetery like this in such a location.

The cemetery is very large it goes so far back and is so dark that perhaps that is what makes this place so eerie. You cannot see the back of the cemetery from the road at night and as large as it is their really is not that many grave stones. Occasionally you will see one here and their in the tall grass or brush.

Many of the grave stones appear to have inscriptions that are homemade embedded in the stones, some stones are made of wood, concrete molds etc it reminds me perhaps of a potters field or poor mans graveyard.

Many of the stones are broken, cracked, missing, vandalized, weathered or leaning. Some of them are in such poor shape like this one where the coffin is almost exposed as the concrete lid is broken.  I did some research and it is said that their are roughly 42 graves within the cemetery but based on how spread out they are we have to assume their are many unmarked burials here as well besides the fact many are hidden in brush or buried in the earth. Many stones are illegible so we have to assume that their are many more that have been buried here over the last century.

As far as I know the cemetery dates back to 1884 when two men that year by the names of George Bingham and Evander Murdock were buried here. Then for many years the cemetery remained unused till the 1900s. So is this an odd place? I would say so but like most places it is just a typical haunt some EMF readings, cooler spots, uneasy feelings etc I am sure many more surprises await this forgotten cemetery.
