Oakwood Resthaven is a really pretty cemetery located in the heart of Niagara Falls NY. This is a cemetery with a castle like crematorium, chapel and of course a house on the property for the caretaker. Their is 30 unknowns buried here and a soldiers plot with many stone crosses. The huge oak trees cover the grounds and at first our group thought this cemetery was small but once you enter past the big iron and stone gates their really is alot to explore. The cemetery was incorporated in 1852 and the veteran soldier plot was established in 1917. Although their seems to be some burials before 1852 based on our finds. The cemetery is very mixed some statues, some monuments, some flat stones, a crypt and even a couple angels. I felt so safe here like I wanted to spend the night and sleep under one of the big oak trees just day dreaming of happy things like flying in the sky like a bird or sitting in a tree eating an apple. This cemetery gave me nothing but positive energies as I walked through it. What makes this cemetery special is that many of the abandoned cemeteries in Niagara county have moved their graves to here such as Fort Schlosser, Osborn, Old Burying Ground, etc. Also their is pauper graves of Annie Taylor who was the first person to go over Niagara Falls in a barrel 1901, Captain Webb & Carlisle Graham.
