Its very rare that we go out on a Sunday for an exploration and although a little late its my pleasure to write such a report to everybody. From what I gathered most of you enjoy the reports over even the photos or articles I share since the reports are written based on experiences and what encountered.

Mount Potosi has really became my favorite location in southern Nevada....maybe because of the silence or seclusion away from the big city. Perhaps its because the mountain has a history of tragedies not to mention a mine that sits thousands of feet up with endless possibilities inside.

I enjoy visiting here but it probably will be my last visit considering the fact their is so many other explorations we have lined up in years to come. Anyhow for our second weekend in a row we visited the location which says allot considering we had to battle snow....cliffs....cold weather....etc the week prior.

What really brought on the second investigation was the fact that I found other holes in the side of the cliff and mountain which I wanted to explore. Sometimes were a straight up paranormal group other times we do good old fashioned explorations. I must say the photography in this location came out gorgeous and second off by the time we put this on our site I am hoping some of our members will show a deeper respect for the work we do.

What I learned from this exploration is that so many of you think the paranormal is a game a cheap thrill but for some of us its a way of life. The work we do is very important and sure their are a million ghost groups but our projects are much bigger then ghost or a few green men from Mars haha. But all joking aside for years to come ill spend them discussing this location and this Friday as well on the AngelOfThyNight Radio Show.

My girl Tammy and I set off very early in the morning we packed lots of gear in case of any surprises.....food....triple layers of clothes...etc and we listened to some Rob Zombie as we drove through the mountains of Red Rock...and the Spring Mountains. The sky was dismal....as on some mountains they had some serious snow...while parts of Vegas were pouring rain. We had no idea how it would be up in the region we were going to just that we would make a second attempt to repeat our first week which was a successful expedition.

Investigation Two Mount Potosi & Mine

When we entered the dirt road it did not take long till we seen up to a foot of snow on both sides of the road and within the mountains. I noticed the deeper we went in the more snow that had accumulated overnight here.

I was not sure how our hike would be as the more ice and snow on the mountain the more dangerous to the peak our climb would become. Not only that but do accomplish this twice is just unbelievable considering our first visit all we endured.

We took the road further up this time and it was very rugged. We had to go past the only cabin out here which according to locals they do not like visitors up here. Tammy noticed a turn off to our left so we took it not the type of place you bring your car but we made it a half of mile down despite the dips...giant rocks etc and found a nice little open area to back the car into.

We gathered our gear hiking down the old wagon road when we found the giant massive canyon and ravine which would lead is back up towards the peak. The snow here was not to bad but higher up towards the mines their was many rocks covered purely in white drifts.

I knew that as the morning went on it would melt and sure enough I called it most snow melted by the time we reached the main entrance to Potosi Mine. My plan was to check out a hole we found in the ravine one which could lead us to the very bottom of those mine shafts that we walked around in our first trip. Mine shafts so deep that when you throw a rock down you never hear it hit the bottom.

It no time we made it very high up with the mountains and roads behind us looking very small. I was explaining to Tammy how the desert and mountains in NV is rather deceptive. What looks like a cliff turns out to be a hill and what turns out to be a hill might be a drop off. Were very miniscule compared to these giant mountains we explore.

We hiked up the ravine Tammy found a mine above us but based on the small pile of debris it probably went a few feet back so we left it alone. Further past that within the ravine hidden we found a rather narrow hole in a rock which I squeezed on in. I followed the small tunnel which eventually started to go up to my right and dead end. I sat their on my back trying not to hit my head despite the spider webs....just in shock to learn their is no lower entrance into the mine or shafts. If you did not go down the shaft by ropes.....ladders....etc then you were not getting to the bottom of the Potosi Mine that was just fact.

When we reached the top of the peak almost we came to the base of some cliffs...just above those is the peak although this was not a peak climb but rather a search for other entrances in the mine. Most mines in NV have a back way in or out....or per level an entrance and exit NOT Potosi. If you go in that mine and it collapses....or you work your way down and the wood breaks your trapped that's just fact something to think about since many people do go up here to explore or end up hiking and find this hidden place.

When we reached the top almost I found a rock that had awesome crystals in it and seen a rock with fossils tons of them. I never thought anything of it till later during our exploration Tammy found one to and pointed it out.

At the base of the cliff we climbed up a pile of rocks then some giant boulders...it was a little slippery and well if you did not hold on it wouldn't be a friendly fall. When I stood on top I was now officially above the Potosi Mine very close to the peak area. I climbed on up to a giant hole in the cliff side.....which had a little path that ran along a smaller set of cliffs. The hole in the side turned out to be a dead end and it was very hard to reach considering I would have to climb along a ledge that was only 3 inches wide hugging the wall.

I could see Tammy below me by about 20 feet.....and I met back up with her banged my knee very hard on a rock that sucked and I am still feeling it as I type this. Tammy and I seen above the mine a tunnel entrance on a very narrow path with drop offs on both ends....the one drop off to the left had a hole leading into the main chamber of the entrance to the mine.

I noticed the concrete blocks were smashed in so I went into the tunnel which went a few feet back then veered to the right ending at a small hole overlooking the entire canyon below. I again was let down as I thought this entrance would lead into the upper level of the mine but I guess that one ladder I found a week prior is the only way to that area besides a rope up one of the shafts we found.

We made it back to the Potosi mine entrance this time it was lighter out.....it wasn't as cold....we read all the graffiti took some photos then made our way along the giant Potosi Cliffs. At times we would have to hug the cliffs as we had other holes we would have to explore before ending our second excursion here.  I said my goodbyes to the mine its a cool place but I wasn't going in again since we explored a good portion of it our first time. But what I had hoped was to set out and find other hidden entrances into this place to areas we may not have been able to reach on our first trip here.

As we followed the path it started to go down hill and we noticed some mining had been done in the cliff itself. Their was one area the wall was black and another area where a part of the cliff had been blown out. Tammy slid down a debris pile caused by the mining. We found a foundation which looked like at one time was built so the mine carts could dump the rock below.

The weather was not getting any better a few flurries hit the area.....dark clouds were surrounding us....some of them were covering other mountain peaks including one that passed just a hundred feet above us. We found another hole which went in a few feet then curved around back to the outside.

We were working our way up to a natural cavern that is what my eyes were set on when we found a crevice. I went in the crevice down a grassy path which also dead ended but it did have a tunnel this time. The tunnel did dead end but to my right their was a wood beam holding up part of the ceiling between the rock and a horizontal crevice. I was excited because we found a new area here and you could clearly tell that it was mined.

After taking a few photos.....Tammy and I climbed the side of the cliff about 18 feet grabbing rocks...and we entered a giant hole which was a cavern. Their were a few small holes but no human or at least a guy my size could fit thru them.

The first thing I noticed about the cavern is that their was a slimy substance all over the ceiling...rocks...floor etc It was evident that the rocks were breaking down with the moisture forming small stalagmites and stalactites.  But something else call my eye to...the floor of the giant cavern which was a giant room was scattered in shit. Just in case you Phuckers decide to Tos me I have included a link to the online websters dictionary.....
http://www.websters-online-dictionary.org/definition/shit1 :)

Anyhow besides finding big horn sheep shit...possibly guano from bats....this shit was not like any animal in the area. The biggest shit your going to find is that of a wild horse/ass in the desert. This was much bigger and made me wonder  how any animal could possibly get up in this giant cavern. I could understand big horn sheep they leap but they crap out pellets....then you have mountain lions which my cat craps the same size they do ha....and then you have bats. Anyhow I thought it was odd and I did for awhile talk to Tammy about Bigfoot. This is a creature which uses caves, mines, crevices etc to seek shelter at.

The area we did our investigation in is forested....and well if you followed this mountain range north it would lead you to places like Yosemite....Reno....the Sierra Nevada's....so was it possible who knows. But I know that the scattered shit found at the bottom of the caverns floor was all over and very fresh. Their was no signs any  humans been here in awhile no litter....no foot tracks....so that was another thing I took notice in.

Tammy and I climbed over some rocks extending out over the cliff....and found a couple rocks. We sat out on the rocks...near the caverns entrance...near a cliff. The view here was gorgeous we could see for miles the various mountain ranges...desert....woods....and roads below.  We had a picnic here of course this time I brought not only gummy bears but gummy worms to lol. For some reason on my last investigation when I hit my head severely I ate a few gummy bears and was freaking resurrected back to life or something man lol. So this time I made sure I stocked up on them bastards.

Sorry if I seem a little blunt but again these are the things that go on during our excursions. Tammy told me she would kick my ass if I hit my head again and sure enough I came about a centimeter from hitting my head in this giant hole I climbed down into. When I climbed down it their was a 10 foot drop off I thought about climbing down then figured it would be easier to just slowly go back around and climb my way down the same way we got up.

I enjoyed the cavern it was different then other places I been to and very private. The weather was not getting any warmer the winds were picking up so I decided we need to pack up camp and work our way down into the ravine and back to our vehicle. I seen some four wheelers in the pass a couple miles away and a few sonic booms over a period of a half hour. Tammy asked of it was thunder I do not think it was serious. They almost sounded like they were coming from the mine maybe residual energy from the 1800's when they use to blast the mine with tnt? Anyhow the booms were pretty eerie and I brushed it off as unknown sound origins.

After we made it out of the cavern safely we would follow the cliff again to a ridge the closest we would ever get to the peak of Potosi. We found a plateau. Tammy threw a snowball as we found some snow....some big horn sheep prints....and we were close to this odd shaped peak that was covered in fog all morning.

We worked our way down on the woodsy side of the mountain...it looked so steep from the bottom but in reality it wasn't to bad. We slid a few times.....but ill tell you nothing was more fun then me foot skiing earlier on the piles of debris left over from the mine.

When we climbed down a few small cliffs....and eventually the wash....I found behind some brush and a tree another mine. This one went about 12 feet back then dead ended. It was a nice little find you would never see it from the giant pass that cuts thru Potosi.

I was pretty excited because we had just made a loop of the entire canyon all the way up the ravine....the mountain....cliff base...and back down into the canyon from the other side. I had found every mine entrance here only to conclude that the Potosi Mine has one entrance and the others were duds...or attempts to discover minerals like Lead, Silver....and Zinc which were not so successful. If it was me I would have dug other tunnels leading into the main mine makes you wonder why the stopped unless they just found nothing but pure rock.

I had a sharp plant puncture my hand but ill tell you its not as bad as knocking myself out almost the week prior to this so that I could deal with. Tammy had a few slips to its a real amazing mountain that has so many types of terrain that you get bruises without you even knowing how you got it.

We were a little worried going back to the car as from the cavern we seen a pick up truck hanging around our vehicle. We took the road back in the pass on foot and had noticed that it was long gone. We loaded our gear and Tammy told me maybe we should follow the road out opposite of where we came. Which was not a bad idea considering this road would lead us to the Goodsprings Mining District and semi Ghost town. The problem was is we had about 20 miles maybe less of traversing to go thru. I didn't mind I figured what the hell ill eat gummy bears....take photos.....maybe get out if I find other caves or mines wtf right?

Well the road seemed pretty good then we hit a series of obstacles for about 5 miles such as giant rocks in the road.....dips so bad even trucks could get stuck....loose gravel etc it was bad. Tammy actually got out of the car and was removing stones off the road....at times directing the car over certain dips. I remember this one spot vividly where I had to place both front tires on two separate rocks embedded in the road if not we would get stuck. I felt like I was in a giant truck hell the car was bouncing up and down I was laughing my ass off. I thought to myself man I feel like I am a redneck up in Florida back in those days I had a truck and I remember my off roading days. I remember them all to well times where we were stuck or got our vehicle almost buried or tipped over.

Their was no room for error here though we had a sports car with 5 to 6 inches off the ground so the road had to be taken with care slowly....at times I had to drive over plants in the desert because the road was just that bad and worry about keeping some tires on it so we would not lose traction. Behind us in the mirror you could see Potosi it was covered in black clouds.  I thought how bad it would be just to try to turn around here since the road was narrow and we had gone for miles.

Tammy and I despite all of this were laughing and having a great time. She told me when I met her we would NEVER offroad and here we are off roading in the middle of nowhere. When I say nowhere all you could see for miles is mountains....cliffs.....Joshua Trees etc etc it was crazy.

At times the road smoothed out while other times the dips were so bad the back or front hit rock bottom. I was proud though of how far I came and more miraculous is we did not puncture a single tire despite how sharp some of the rocks were. What makes me more successful is knowing others believe in me and she believed in me to get her out of this place and I did just that. Well if I didn't who would tell my story right?:)

Anyhow Tammy and I came to a three way split and well I wanted to get her to Goodsprings since her Ciggs she lost on the mountain I felt pretty bad. We took another road which looked like it went a 100 miles I swear and well it was so rugged that we turned around deciding if we could ride this far down the road once we could do it twice.

I got out of the car a few times to remove rocks also looking back at the Potosi mine and it was so small and high up. I was paralyzed with amazement thinking wow I was up their not once but twice its hard to explain but seriously we are just ants compared this place. Its large enough to see miles away which when thousands of feet below one cant believe that they were once standing above this entire valley now here I was driving in it.

I had made a quick pilot video serious for youtube cracking a few jokes and took some scenic photos. I have no idea how we made it this is an area my buddy seen a truck stuck at and here we are in a car bouncing up and down. I consider myself though to be one hell of an off roader and been doing it for years so yeah ill admit I was eating it up the entire time its been awhile.

Tammy was like what are we thinking going down a road like this but I thought to myself well I am thinking of gummy bears and scenic site seeing. Perhaps it wasn't the best decision but ill tell you what I have no regrets. I get to go to some of the most remote parts of the country toking...hiking....and living it up and that I wouldn't pass up for anything. Tammy was on her phone she was like ummm we are in the middle of nowhere on some road and when we get back who knows ill call you. I was thinking to myself IF we get back lol either that or we do the 20 mile walk of shame hike to civilization!

When we got home we hit a pretty severe thunderstorm....we got some Jack In The Box....it was the best cheeseburger and tacos I ever had eaten I kid you not. After a day of climbing...hiking...and almost being stuck twice in two weeks I think its safe to say Potosi is a great place but its also alluring which can get  you into some pretty odd situations.

Everything you could possibly encounter while outdoors imaginable happened here and the second investigation was even more exciting then the first. Will there be a third trip possibly... a buddy of mine is getting repelling gear and had taken consideration into us going down into some of the lower shafts and hard to get places but again its an up in the air thing. The second trip was more directed towards exploration rather then paranormal investigating. I shit you not its a miracle to make it out of this place in one piece but ill promise you this your going to enjoy this update when it comes onto our site.

Some guys give their gfs flowers this guy gives his gf rocks....picnics on cliffs....and roads to nowhere. Sometimes the only place left to go is the road less traveled and thus I am an explorer!

A strange anomaly is found to be seen in front of Tammy's face. I did infered testing and a few other test. I will admit its an awfully odd looking orb. It was taken in a cavern over looking a giant valley. The cavern near by has a mine as well.

To reach this cavern you have to climb a 10 to 15 foot wall its rather steep. Scattered within the cavern is rich blackish colored large stool specimens. Here is what I found strange about the stool 1. Many piles were fresh and very heavy 2. Odorless perhaps the cold kept it rather fresh since at night the temperatures are freezing 3. Some of the feces found were extremely large 4. The stool does not match anything from the area. The largest stool found in the area is often from wild Burrows however considering how high and steep it would be to get inside this cavern on the cliff it would make one wonder how an animal could get up into here. I made a joke about maybe its the Yeti of the Spring Mountains....or as some call it Bigfoot. Considering the fact that this mountain range contains woods it also contains many natural springs and an abundant amount of natural life. Natural life varies in these hills from wild Burrows, Desert Rats, Turtles, Rabbits, Deer, Big Horn Sheep and other small animals which can survive in a desert to a more forested sort of foliage commen in southern NV. Not to mention that Potosi has many caves just as well as miles of forest that connect to many mountains along the Spring Mtn Range. You can see my feet compared to the piles of stool for size comparisons.
