Lincoln Cemetery on a long dirt road which leads you into a wooded area where this pioneer cemetery sits. I do not know its exact age but I believe it dates back to the 1800s. This has to be the worst vandalized cemetery I have ever seen since my move to Florida. Almost every stone is either broke, tipped over, unreadable, missing, moved, or missing parts. There are beer bottles scattered at the front entrance and signs that some have tried to open some of the upper casket burials. Most stones are made out of limestone which corrodes easy as years of rain come and go. Some stones look like the name is etched or hand carved even.

I really felt sad walking threw here there is no sign at the entrance, some burials are unmarked and it seems we have forgotten who these people are. I do not know if any confederates are buried here. But some stones do say private which makes me believe that there are veterans of some sort. There is also one stone here that is only two years old sitting next to one that is very old which is her husband.

This is the type of cemetery you seen in horror movies as there are spider webs all over including giant spiders to go with them. There is one part of the woods where a stone lay all by itself. It is quite sad but I do believe that there are talks about restoring the cemetery. Although this place is not as haunted as you would think this by far was the coldest cemetery I visited in the DeLand area  and I know the ghost were there watching you could feel it all around you.

But as of now the cemetery is a spot where kids go drink, smoke and hang out. There is even a fire pit in the cemetery like some have gone back here just to camp out. It looks like where the fire pit was a grave was dug up there is a huge hole in the ground. But besides these 100 stones that sit here another cemetery is just a few feet away separated only by a fence. Since the one is from 1870 next to it I am pretty sure this one is much older. Why it is called Lincoln cemetery could have something to do with the civil war that's about as far as I know. We will visit a second time perhaps to bring you some apparitions here but in the mean time take a walk with us to one of the eeriest cemeteries in Volusia County.
