The Lancaster Opera House was established in 1894 and was an important part of history to the village of Lancaster in its development. It was an early tradition a century ago to build an opera house and also combine it with the towns government offices. Whenever this was done they often called the halls opera houses whether opera was performed here. The opera house in the late 1800s to early 1900s was used for musicals, dances, even a distribution center during the depression. Today the government offices still remain there and at night you can see clearly dimly lit lights on giving it an eerie feeling. The giant clock tower in the front of it gives you that back to the future feeling. I sometimes walk to the opera house at night sit on the steps and day dream about how it reminded me of the movie back to the future. I could actually picture myself at the top of the tower hooking up a cable for the lightening to strike. So as you can see there is some imagination to the place and this is why I wanted to bring you a story on it.

The opera house at one time was closed down and in 1975 a restoration process began. By 1981 it was full restored as a performing arts center and they kept it looking like it did in the late 1800s. So this historical landmark has been restored and today is used for many different shows. Some of the shows my son has been to on field trips. Luckily this opera house has survived the Lancaster Fire and Floods years ago when people died and lost there homes.

Now we get to the question is it haunted? Well there was one man who investigated it who said nothing is here. We may never know how haunted the inside is since unfortunately the people in charge who gave us permission to go inside to investigate it never gave me a specific date or time to have a look around at night. This is why most of our investigations are often done on our own free will because  people are either too skeptical or fear the truth that this opera house may being a place where many ghost reside. I have heard though that there are many ghost who roam the halls some of them follow workers around and the owners. Sometimes lights turn on and off by themselves. There is a man who hung himself in the tower he is said to haunt it and there is lady lavender she is also known to haunt the opera house as many have seen and heard her. But like most opera houses this one is haunted I know it just by walking around the place and peering into the windows as something watches me back. Since we could not get inside I still wanted to bring some kind of ghost story to the table. So what I did was visited here and called the ghost outside did we get good results here you bet your ass we did.

On a final note this is a beautiful building it is more then just a opera house it is a part of history and a beautiful building just to sit down in front of and admire. Months ago I went on a date and took a Ex-Gf here we sat on the steps and of course kissed ha ha so yeah I made a little history of my own here. But I love this place and now part of the love I have for it I can share with you.
