J. Ralph Ingalls School was significant in the early 1900s. This was dedicated in 1998 as a national landmark and the school is still in function as a dance studio and architecture offices on the second floor. This school has a colonial revival look to it and it is still very well preserved. When we visited here we had lunch outside in the overgrown playground and I took a walk near the creek nearby where I am sure 50 years ago the kids would go outside to play in during there free time. One can only imagine how this school use to be years ago as I believe this school was for elementary students or possibly k-12. The school is in a very small town so you would not have alot of students probably each classroom was a different grade. It seemed that even the basement had some classrooms. One can only imagine how at one time this school would be as students would walk the grounds carrying their book bags, playing in the playground, classrooms full of students and now all that remains is a quiet ghost school. On the grounds is a historical bell from Troy NY and a old rusted bike that is secured down near a flag pole perhaps this is something to remind us of the past or what this school was. Lets face it though every school has a ghost where a student will die from an illness or perhaps a janitor will pass away and often these are the types of ghost that haunt schools such as this. Sometimes the town has dances held in the gymnasium/cafeteria area which has a stage and probably at one time was used for school plays.
