Nestled deep in the Allegheny national forest on some old logging roads is a one room cave that literally is hidden from birds eye view. Its just a small hole in the ground you climb into and it opens up into a room.

A Hermit back in the 1930s-40s worked at a nearby logging operation and lived in this cave for several years. Just up the road is a gravel pit that was said to be the location of a small ghost town and logging operation. The cave was only a few hundred feet from this location. The cave was about 52 degrees inside much warmer then it was outside where we encountered much cooler temperatures.

The iron bars that are embedded in the cave walls are still there today and that was where he had hung his hammock from. His name and date in Roman Numerals are still legible outside the cave entrance but are covered in moss.

This is a tectonic sort of cave and it does go further back up the passages are two narrow for a person squeeze into. Further below the cave is an old cold spring and the water is very drinkable.

I think the basis for this investigation was does the hermit still haunt the cave. I mean years and years of him living their had to leave some sort of residual energy. It is a cozy cave I could actually see myself laying down a hammock, some boards, a small lantern etc and camping out here. I mean the entrance is to small for large animals to get in so your fairly safe from anything in the woods.
