Right now we are standing nearly at the entrances of Six and Seven mile canyons. To enter the mining district you have to work your way up into Seven Mile Canyon. To our right in the distance is the Flowery Mtn. Peak and many other dominant ones in the hills of Virginia City.
Although we see the summit off in the distance there really is no set trail. Many of the roads are back when heavy mining was a daily occurrence. We would have to rock climb at times crawling on all fours to get up the steep hillside.

We are now in the Flowery Mountains which to our surprise the backside of them was covered in heavy wet snow. The range intersects with the Virginia Range and at one time these mountains were rich in gold and silver.
We are crossing over a saddle when this view is revealed to us. We could not wait till we reached Flowery Peak. Although there are a few other peaks that are higher in the area I knew this one would be good enough to get views of the Great Basin and even Carson City miles below.

We have reached the summit which reveals great views of Mt. Davidson and Virginia City from afar. On top of the peak was some very old piles of wood and beams. From atop of the peak I could look all the way down the entire Flowery Range. One peak after another on the backside was covered in snow. We would eventually work our way on the backside to find some forgotten mines and there respective camps.		 \
This is the strangest thing so far I have seen hiking in the hills of Virginia City. There is a series of tracks they are just found on the edge of a cliff and continue on for about 8'. They disappear behind and ahead just like something appears here started to make snow impressions then disappeared. The prints did measure nearly 20" which leaves the question whether there is Bigfoot in this vast wilderness. They could be living in one of the nearby mines or down at the bottom of a shaft.

We hiked miles north towards Virginia City on perhaps one of the most haunted roads in the region. Their are ghost stories found within Six Mile canyon which is surrounded by mines, mills and very oddly shaped rocks. The vehicles sometimes speed which makes it all the more deadly. You will not see much but this is my way of talking to all our viewers rather then at them. So I hope to connect with our newer viewers and my friends. We just left the mine and pond but it was to dark to film thus we came out on this road to traverse back to the truck. We had looped all the way around the Flowery Mountains!
Along this old mining road we found a metal cross. This rocky road would eventually lead us to the pond and mine. Generally most crosses found in seclusion near mines were miners who passed on. However this individual passed on in 2004 and it may not be the first victim that has fallen in the Flowery Mountains.

During our second expedition as promised I would take our viewers to a strip and open pit mine. The strip mining does for nearly a century has removed an entire hillside. Meanwhile the open pit mine is now a pond where the locals fish. I was disappointed that the district had many strip mines rather then tunnels to explore. We found an old bullet a few inches under ground here. This mine was the most prominent within the Flowery District.
