Day 3
Estellville
Glassworks
We woke up about 9 am at the hotel Andrew pretty much tried to instigate a
fist fight with me it hurts so bad to see an investigator break down like
this. The guys told me the reason they acted this way is they were overly
tired etc etc I could not understand how me being older then them, having
an infection which was eating away everyday at me, and doing all the
driving could give them the right to take out their aggressions on me when
I thought I was doing quite well the entire trip. The maps I did up were
accurate we found most places we didn't get stuck we ate well but
apparently they just were not happy it seemed.
Anyhow I stopped at a grocery store picked up a chocolate muffin yummm and
some ice teas. The guys picked up something to eat to I think Adam picked
up Doritos. I was really amazed with how friendly people are in the pine
barrens area its not like FL people are rude but people out there actually
chat with you and ask you how you are.
We headed on off to Estellville Glassworks another Jersey Devil Location
all that remains are the glass works ruins. I read the history its a
pretty cool place you can still see all the glass on the ground. Andrew
bitched me out cause I parked on the side of the road and he demanded I
park in the parking lot people are just so anxious to bark orders again
they think cause they go on a few hikes that they are da bomb or something
who knows.
But I did not listen I parked on the side of the road in front of the
factory ruins a ranger drove by I was not ticketed cause he seen me
photographing the ruins its sort of common sense I am just taking a few
photos. We hiked on into the woods in a cool area that had more then just
pine trees rumor has it their are more foundations hidden in the woods.
I took us to the river and another location where their was old pylons
from a bridge. Damn I would love to get across the water was shallow and
who knows what was on that old dirt road. Their is no way to access it
unless you cross the river on foot but the pylons were old perhaps 1800's
so who knows what was across the missing bridge. We then arrived back into
the truck and I found a veterans cemetery nearby nothing to special so I
did not get out I however passed the foundation of a Smokeless Powder
Magazine from WWI where trees were towering from the inside. It was a
large foundation and it was worth taking the time to photograph.
After this we were approaching one of the most famous furnaces in the Pine
Barrens called Weymouth!!!
