All that remains of Empire City are the graves of those who braved the wild west buried here on Ambrose Hill. In this very cemetery you have many of the first residents of old Empire City all the way from politicians to children and those that worked the mills. Today many of the graves are in peril out of the two hundred graves only half are marked while the land itself is the site of one of Nevadas first ranches. These pioneers came to this area when this was Utah territory before NV reached statehood some of them were also part of Carson Cities history the state capitol. Not only is this cemetery very historic but its also haunted.	Also called the Yellow Jacket Mill today not much remains but a few ruins scattered along the Carson River. While further up the trail is the Empire Ranch Golf Course Today remnants of the Mexican Mill are non existent where the Red House and Golf course stand. The canals and ponds still remain but are now being used by a variety of bird life thus what once was left of the town is barely non existent. The Mexican Mill was the first steam powered stamp mill in this region imagine being the superintendent of the mill and living in this home knowing that it was just a few steps away from the very mill you operated. This view has not changed in thousands of years the early settlers would have seen the mountains the way your seeing them. The Morgan Mill is at the mouth of the Carson River Canyon. At one time mills like these employed many of the men who lived in Empire more or less they looked like factories sometimes with smoke stacks or even paddle wheels. One from town would easily see the steam that came from these mills even all the way from Carson City although back in the day between towns it was very rural and today the trees along with these two sites are remnants of old Empire City Nevada!

This is our journey around the old Empire Mill site in actuality this area seems to be ground zero where old town stood. Today the giant cotton woods, piles of wood and even old farm equipment are found on the north side of the river just across from Mexican Mill the first of its kind to be used in Utah Territory at the time in 1860. It is very scattered back here and over grown. Signs that deer, black bear and mountain lion also been roaming along this woodsy patch along the river. Whatever was here is long gone but no less will take you through it so you can see how nature is consuming what very little is left of old Empire City. This was a huge boom town one of the top lumber towns in all of Nevada. It boasted hotels, saloons, dance hall, school, large mansions and stores. Its milling was done on the edge of town and mostly in the canyon where the Carson River enters into the pine nut mountains just east of Carson City NV.	When we entered into Brunswick Canyon it begins to follow the Carson River. The bridge we come across was designed using two railroad turn tables used by the V&T railroad so that the line could turn around near this mill and head back up to Virginia City. The mill was built around 1863 it was very massive and today only a few stone walls remain residing along the Carson River. Nearby is an old mining house and quarry which seem to be where some of the original mill stood. Mills varied in the canyon while some processed ore others gathered the logs sent downstream from the high sierras by lumberman to be used in construction of the Comstock Lodes Mines. Its a very exciting canyon as you traverse deeper into it you will see that it widens. Along the river are many cottonwood trees but at one point in time the entire canyon was cleared of all foliage to make room for the mills and reservoirs for these large operations in the 1860s.

In the early 1860's the mill and its smelter were built changing hands at least three times. It went from Blue Canyon, Copper Canyon and eventually its final name called Yerington Smelter. This is our adventure at the smelter and inside a very dark tunnel that takes us inside the heart of the mill. It appears that today most of the people who come up here do so to vandalize as we uncover bullets, graffiti and even a creepy clown on the ground as well as a shoe.I found this area to be a bit more haunted then other sites on this journey not sure why that is but it is no secret that milling accidents sometimes led to death. Just adjacent to the smelter is a cliff that drops off into the river its a pretty view but standing on top of it really puts things into perspective as one canyon blends into the next.	Built in 1861 the Merrimac Mill resided very close to the Carson River. Today all that really remains is perhaps a dried up well or cellar, rusted remnants,broken glass, bricks, stone wall and broken pieces of wood consumed by the sage brush. Just above the mill site is the Brunswick Dam which you will see in part 8. Autumn is still setting in within the canyon as many trees are gold and yellow. Water levels vary but at one time this mill did harness the raging power that the Carson River provided. The Merrimac is only separated by about 150' from the Yerington Smelter. Both mills were fairly close to one another therefore the men that worked at these mills heard the train come through the canyon as much as whistles or bells that went off during shift changes or lunch.

This clip is all about the trials and tribulations we would face off against during this expedition. The first one being that the turntable style bridge was out even if I dropped down the second being as to where I would cross the river. It was later November so it was cold however I managed to eventually end up filming this segment standing in the river as we would cross and began our ascension up to a ridge that overlooks Brunswick Dam. In the end our trials and tribulations were not for nothing we would cross soaking up all the adventure we could consume! Just remember that this is what the wild west is made of it might be pretty but journeying in Nevada's frontier can be harsh and it takes time to work your way through it. At one time you could cross using the bridge today the only way through the mountains is by traversing the wilderness or taking some of the rugged milling roads that are back here.	This is our ascension to the top of the ridge line which overlooks Carson City, Carson River and off in the distance the Brunswick Dam. I ended up falling lets just say this rock is like glass up here. Sunset was starting to set in and we had much more work to do as most of the mills reside along the river below. As we climbed I came across another canyon separating me from making it over to the dam. I would like to return to get closer to this mighty dam by returning here and hopefully see if the upper reservoir still even exist or still retains some water. At one time the canyon was filled with many dams so that the mills could harness the water by producing steam power. The Pine Nuts are full of pinions and a very vast expanse of high desert as you can see from up above we welcome you to sit back and enjoy the view.

As the sun was beginning to set we had to find an way down off the ridge and back to the bottom of the canyon. Along the way we found this old wooden tree house hidden in the Pine Nut Mountains forest. You could see allot of cans, canvas, wood boards and even a tent. Somebody perhaps a bushwhacker may have lived here or even a hermit at one time. We would eventually descend down tot he river where we came across cess pools of Mercury. This is a clip of us crossing the Carson River lucky for us it was winter but due to a warm winter the melted snow made the water icy, cold and flowing fairly fast for this time of year. In the Spring the river can rise 15' deeper I have witnessed it and so we give you "Mercury Rising". The fish are not safe to eat as mercury was used in early ore processing which polluted some parts of the Carson River only later other safer methods were used by then it was to late as even the river today is still not fully healed from its old milling days.	I invite all our viewers to enjoy this amazing series of clips of the mighty Carson Canyon. The road that runs along the rim of the canyon is the old V&T railroad grade which runs along scenic overlooks, cliffs and precious views of the Pine Nut Mountains. Below at the bottom of the canyon is the Carson River & remnants of mills that once were part of old Empire City in the 1860's. This is like a wild roller coaster ride so hang on tight sadly the road will come to an end and turning around meant we had to do this twice. Twice the adventure and twice the fun the old grade is full of surprises believe me lol. At one time train tracks ran through the canyon importing and exporting supplies at each mill. Eventually when the milling stopped the train did stop in Empire City so back in the day the early pioneers also had a means to do business in nearby Carson and Virginia City by using the Virginia & Truckee Railroad as a means for transportation.

Evening is setting on in as the sun is going behind the sierras our journey has come to an end where we would stop at the Red House. I would pay my tribute to this Victorian piece of history with this clip and some history regarding old Empire City. Honestly it brings me joy to stand in front of the Red House knowing that something remains of old town but saddens me to know this is all that remains besides the mills which are fading back into the wilderness! One can see the pictures of the home from afar in the gallery at the very end of this clip which includes a stunning photo of a UFO hovering over the mansion over the mountains. I cannot say for certain it is alien but no less I like to anything in our skies that may not belong. Empire City was a large boom town full of saw mills, ore processing factories and a fairly large town. It had a school, large homes, stories, dance hall, saloons, hotels and many mills. Today many news sub divisions and housing were built over the original town site not much remains! My son has been inside the home he says it has a giant grand fireplace and although he is not big on history he took an interest of this home. Homes like these hardly exist anymore especially when it belonged to the Superintendent who ran one of first steam powered mills for hundreds of miles which makes this area very historic today!	The video clip you are about to witness was filmed hovering over a peak bordering Empire City Nevada and the Carson River Canyon also known as Brunswick Canyon. It is situated over the Pine Nut Mountain Range known for its strange lights and occurrences just outside the state capitol of Carson City! It is also an area that has been home to the Washoe Tribe for thousands of years eventually to be used by early pioneers who harnessed the power of the river to mill logs floated down the river from the sierras and to process ore from the Comstock Lode of Virginia City just miles away. Today the canyon is quite desolate allot of wilderness and mill ruins. So its rather vacated of humans and very offbeat the further you go up into the canyon. This phenomenal footage was caught around midnight of November 16th-17th when I went for a late night drive out to the mouth of the canyon and this object caught my attention so I grabbed the gear. Pay very close attention to this UFO as not only does it strobe three to four color spectrum's a second but in the center of the object is a sphere while within its corona their appears to be some spinning motion. This spinning motion is sort of kind of like a top might look if you were to spin it fast enough on the floor or a flat surface. At one point in time you will see the object lunge towards me while other times even though I have it on a tripod it tends to move very quickly out of focus. Its as if whatever intelligence operated such a craft may have wanted to stay out of the limelight of my cam or knew I was trying to film it. If you continue to watch the video I have also attached a UFO photo taken over the Red House one of Empire Cities last remaining historical homes remaining as it hovers over the mountains beyond it. The photo was taken during the day while I was out hiking and exploring some of the mill ruins within this ghost town on the edge of Carson City. Although UFO's are very common in this region of Nevada this truly is some amazing footage of an unknown object in the night sky as to where most sightings can be explained this cannot! Given the facts that the object strobes multiple hues of color strobes, moving at a high rate of speed, extremely large in size and has spinning motion within it we can safely say that this is an Unidentified Flying Object that might be alien technology possibly from another world!
