Dead Man's Oak is one of the most haunted hotspots in all of central Florida. Its also one of the hardest places to find since its a local urban legend and hang out spot. I learned about this back in 2004 ran into a few who visited the area and had actual experiences. Then near Halloween someone gave me directions to it and for that I am pretty grateful cause at least I can say I visited it.

The area the tree sits is very old and still very unsettled but sooner or later I am sure it will be cleared out for urban development. Its an area full of wildlife, swamps, dirt roads, pastures etc just to give you an idea of how hard it might be just to find an oak tree in over 1500 acres. Some websites say its not even in the location we were in but based on interviews, research, tips etc this seems like the probable area since there is an old oak tree in this area which is all bent, twisted, etc To some  it sounds like an urban legend started by kids back in 2000. But who is to say there is not some truth to it or the horrors that surround these woods?

The story goes that under an ancient oak tree of a man who was beheaded for stealing a horse of course others tell me bread. Some say the Spaniard Soldiers beheaded him others say he was a Spaniard. Again I hear to many different versions point being that someone was beheaded under this oak tree. More then likely it happened in the 1700s that was a time that the Spaniards marched through most of Florida claiming it Spanish Territory.

However if that were the case the tree we seen probably did not exist at that time so again the entire story does not totally add up. We know something is happening in the woods surrounding the only Oak we found however the true story may be one big mystery. One man I interviewed two years ago told me he seen a white horse gallop past him then vanish into thin air. The tree you seen in the photos is a dead oak with alot of grapefruit trees growing so close that the branches intertwine with eachother which again makes me question if this is the location. Nonetheless the ghost activity near the tree you see on this page was AMAZING. Something happened in these woods and it may always remain a history.

However most people that have sightings near the Oak claim to see a headless man riding a white horse. They say he is harmless and perhaps what happened was they beheaded the man threw him up on the horse slapping it on the ass. Something common they would do centuries ago to make an example out of anybody who steals. The sightings of the apparition date back to more then a century ago so this has been a long-term haunting to the area.

Alot of the ghostly photos you will see from our first investigation here take place in different areas some take place in the back woods of an abandon house, another part takes place behind a plantation on some unused trails and the final part takes place on a dead end trail in this open area where we met this twisted and bent tree maybe dead man's oak but the entire area is eerie and said to be haunted so with great news you will see this turned out to be quite the investigation.

Those that dared to venture to the oak tree have told me its a disgusting site lots of dead animals hanging off the trees, occult symbols, and signs of rituals. I did not see this but it looks like to be alot of branches were cut or broken off the tree overhanging the trail. So again its hard to say since they are clearing the woods a machine could have did this.

Then lastly there is another story passed around about a two story ranch house that stood between two lakes today its now a nature preserve. But a century ago their was and outlaw by the name of Parker who sold cattle to Cuba and they would pay him in gold. Eventually when the loot added up he buried it on the property.

There was also a well on the property which often drew travelers and Ranchers. They would camp here but would not dare stay in the house cause all the doors would not shut. When someone shut a door another one would open some claimed it was haunted. Over the years people seen a headless rider in the area some say it was Parker's ghost. Nobody however knows how Parker died.

So see we have two separate areas with Headless Horseman tales guess the only way we will solve this is I will have to investigate the prairie where this ranch once stood. However point being is we have tales from two separate locations maybe both are haunted by a headless horseman or maybe one is urban legend while the other is not it is very hard to say.

I do know that this area we spent time on was a massive investigation we off roaded in my truck down rough dirt unused roads, hiked down trails, made our way across prairies etc it was not a nice walk in the woods. The area we found this oak tree not only has tales of headless horseman Haunting's but a monster, pioneer ghost and heavy occult activity. So it definitely made a wonderful Halloween and news story for our organization!
