Como Lake Park was once known as the Lancaster Municipal Park in 1923. It is one of the oldest parks in Erie County and in 1926 Erie county acquired it through a special village election. At this time the park was only 80 acres. The parks name was derived from a tourist resort in Italy and was Erie counties 1st multi-purpose park. It is one of the largest in Erie County as well besides 2 others.

The park contains today 350 acres of trails, woods and nature. There is a man made lake that is over 4.5 acres which is used for fishing and an ice skating rink. There is a lighthouse, damn, 220 ft sledding hill, a bridge, groves, small zoo, fireplaces, lodge, shelters, many playgrounds and many more attractions. Many people just spend the day at the lake, biking on the trails, walking there dog, or holding hands walking. My son had his cub scout picnics here as one of the shelters belongs to the boy scouts of America. The park over the last 80 years expanded and the lake has been dredged a few times making it deeper and wider. The park is divides the Cayuga and Ellicott creeks as well since it sits at the mouth of them both.

There are 2 cannons in the park one is from the civil war. The park also has a memorial for all the men who fought bravely from Lancaster NY in the civil war, Vietnam, WWI & II mentioning all the branches of the military. In the 1930s when the mouth of the creek had over flown many houses surrounding the park were swept away whether people died I do not know however disaster did hit near the park. This is also at one time native American lands where crops were grew and the Indians fished to feed there villages. So naturally there are ghost here.

Last summer I took an ex girlfriend up here and we went into the woods laying under the stars. I do remember seeing a ghostly figure watching us. But the place has many more memories such as the egg hunts my tiger scouts pack had here. Or when I was a child how I would eat pizza by the lake. At one time I use to fish here everyday for about a half of year straight. It was great I caught a white perch, some nice size Cats, and even a very large small mouth base. So the fishing is really good near the water falls especially during trout season. Ha see now I am talking about fish instead of ghost but the point is that the park has everything you could want it is haunted, there are fun things to see and do, even a sledding hill that's 220feet in height where we went sledding it was a PGS thing.

I noticed the most haunted area of the park is near the lighthouse which also sits near the lake. The lighthouse also has a pentagram carved above the doorway perhaps this has some hidden meaning or why the lighthouse is so active. There is a photo of the pentagram above if you look. Why this is I do not know it could be what existed once there in the past or that there is an electrical power box which entities can feed off of within the lighthouse. But there is much to see and explore here and if you ever walked here at night you could feel a gloomy sense about it and give it a try. Some night take a walk on a moonlight night and walk down some of the roads and paths you will feel it and now I am able to share it with you.

Update: A member and friend of mine told me a story that his Girlfriend was 4 years old and was playing hide & seek near the lighthouse. Well her babysitter was a mentally unstable man and shot himself right near the lighthouse in Como Park. We must question ourselves and ask does his ghost haunt Como Park?
