The Arcade & Attic Railroad was at one time known as as the Tonawanda Valley Railroad which was incorporated in April of 1880 and by September 1880 a 3 foot gauge line was routed for curriers and mail service. In 1881 this railroad was extended to the village of Arcade. Many new roads were formed and a new running into Cuba NY were formed. In 1892 railroad operations were cut back from Cuba to Freedom and the company then named this line the Attica & Freedom Railroad. Then in 2 years later it was called the Buffalo Attica & Arcade Railroad or rather A&A.  One year later in 1895 the tracks were laid to a standard gauge which is much larger and could carry more. In 1917 the towns of Arcade and Attica purchased the railroad and incorporated it which would give them full operation of the railroad. So from 1917 to 1951 a very nice passenger service remained operable which was a 17 mile excursion. In 1951 that service discontinued and the railroad was abandoned.

Then in 1962 an excursion service started and now as of this day the railroad station has been turned into a museum, the engine and cars have been restored and anybody can enjoy an afternoon taking a little 17 mile trip and back on this historical train. Even for every season the train cars are decorated for the holiday such as Christmas Wreaths are on the train cars, and Santa rides on board then in August they do a Civil War Reenactment where the Union and Confederate soldiers stop the train and duel hopping on board the train and interacting with passengers. So basically this is a very family orientated type of  service for all ages.

I became interested in this train for 2 reasons. One it is one of the only operable steam locomotives in the country. Two when I was a child I use to beg my father to take me but never did we go. I was telling Mark I remember one time fishing as a child and seeing this train go by. I stood read close to the tracks and came very close to being hit. It is funny how you remember such incidents the train that almost hits you, you turn around and investigate it years later. But none the less our organization loves trains and railroad stations. Because often you get a lot of residual energy and sometimes you find these to be the most haunted places and if they are not you still get the history to go with it all.

We found this to be pretty haunted. Honestly it is not always what you get on film that makes a place haunted it is what you hear, see, smell, feel, when you are out investigating. Some cars seemed colder then others, while other cars you could feel watched from. Today some cars await restoration, while other cars are locked for tours. The steam engine is kept in a warehouse during the winter to protect it from weather and vandals. While outside an cab from an old steam engine, snow sweeper engine, freight engine, box car, cargo flat bed car all remain as the tracks do end. If I was not moving out of state I would investigate this place more often as eventually I know I could get something really nice on film. But from what we learned here the ghost are very happy and very shy as this is a peaceful happy place. It is the type of place any ghost would want to spend there afterlife at. As children's faces light up when they board this train. But mainly we investigated this because it was meant to be fun climbing up on trains, pretending like we lived in the ole West, hoping to catch a glimpse of a 1800s ghost peering out a passenger car window.
