The Buffalo Fine Arts Academy was founded and formed in 1862 and today is now the governing body of the Albright Knox Art Gallery. This is one of the oldest public arts organizations in the country. In 1905 Albright Knox Art gallery was opened to the public funded as a generous gift by philanthropist and Buffalo entrepreneur which it was intended to serve as a fine arts pavilion of the Pan-American Exposition in 1901 but due to its complicated architecture it was completed 4 years to late.

Edward B. Green was responsible for the building of this monolithic structure or least the original building. The building had 102 columns more then any building in the country except our capitol, was made with 5000 tons of marble, and was designed similar to Greek structures.  At this time it was called the Dayton Art Institute and Toledo Museum of art which very few people know. But in 1962 with additions of new wings designed by Gordon Bunshaft, Owings, and Merrill the gallery was in a major grow stage. With donations made possible from Seymour H. Knox Jr, his family and other contributors. In 1962 the gallery reclaimed its name as Albright Knox and an additional wing of galleries was built in Clifton Hall which connects to the main gallery underground.

It is said that the museum today has some of the most stunning modern and contemporary art collections in the world. There is many pieces of art from the post-war American time period as well as European art acquires mainly from Seymour H. Knox Jr. such as pop art, abstract expressionism, and 1970s art from artist such as Gorkey, Pollock, Warhol, and Johns. There is also a panorama of art threw the centuries from a Mesopotamian figure dated 3,000B.C. and renaissance paintings and sculptures. There is also paintings from French artist of the 19th century such as Gauguin and Van Gogh. There are even some famous works from Picasso which were works of art dealing with surrealism, cubism, and constructivism.

Although I did not investigate the inside of the museum I have visited here and its a very gloomy place. There is many different halls and wings leading to some pretty eerie looking paintings. Some of them even appear as if they are staring at you just watching. I bet the security guards here have some good ghost stories to tell. Much like the art that is here the ghost are very artsy or shall we say classy. You have to have been there to understand how each time the flash went off you could see such beautiful entities. However the photos show many beautiful whites, blues and very clear shots of many of the ghost that roam around the art galleries grounds.

Approaching this place is amazing as you walk up the stone steps and the main building is surrounded by columns and statues that look as if they guard the building. Then seeing rod iron around the windows gives it a prison feeling. Some say the gallery is very seductive or rather intimate. I remember as a child my father would take me here and I would place in the house of mirrors which was a little tiny house with mirrors on the floor, ceilings, and walls. But at that age who would ever think it would be haunted? So honestly I was really proud to be able to show you a little bit of the art gallery, exhibits on the grounds and some of the ghost that roam around. Does the Knox Family still watch over its gallery? You decide the answer lays here.
